Official bitching about Hudson abandoning VC support. [VC/WiiWare = lost cause]

I'd forgotten how awesome the music is in Secret of Mana. I loved it as a kid and I think I might play through the whole thing again. Can't wait to play it with friends.
You should do yourself the favor and buy the soundtrack which is still available in some online game stores. VG Music may actually be sold out. Hell, if you like, I'll even send you a copy (not an original though lol).

For anyone who hasn't played it, though, absolutely snatch it up. It's my favorite game ever and I'd buy it if I didn't still have my SNES cart

I knew there was a reason I love you Rimmer. Secret of Mana fans unite.
Not enough love to justify another Tournament of Champions though. The thought of sending you another Grand Prize pack of goodies for the third time in my life positively sends shivers up my spine.
:P

JERK! All those Saturday nights with all those social engagements broken so I could sit around and do trivia, and what do I have to show for it? NOTHING! (except maybe all the tears of all the sexy, sexy ladies whose hearts I broke)

Ok, a few more levels in and I can declare World of Goo to be THE premiere Wii Ware title. It wasn't Toki Tori or Lost Winds, this game is the real deal, something that can be held up to the best dlc games on Xbla or PSN.

I'd make one myself, but I'm quite busy today, earliest would be sometime tonight. If you have the time, you can go ahead though.

I'd do it, but I have no clue how to make one cause i've never entered one. But SoM definitely deserves it

If there's not one by the time I get back from a friend's birthday dinner, I'll put something together, hopefully it won't be too bad! :o

I'm starting to think there's a real shot that Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia and the sought after Terranigma will make it to VC now. Or am I hoping for too much even after today's release?

I'm the kind of person who would hope for Ogre Battle Saga to show up on VC before anything else SE has been sitting on; however, Quintet series would be just as good. Here's hoping, afterall, the two aforementioned series is just as dead as the Mana series.

Tres bon. (I really can't believe how much french I've forgotten over the years.)

And it would be nice to see the Ogre Battle series pop up.

We've already gotten one Quintet game so it's not impossible.

Never been an RPG kinda guy but when researching the SNES after I got one some years ago I was a bit interested in SoM as far as my want of RPGs goes.

I didn't think my 6000 points I got from TRU would go very fast but Nintendo has been on fire with it lately.

While I'm still not crazy about the speed with which VC titles are getting released, it's impossible to deny the epic quality of the last few month's releases. I'm going to throw this out there, then back away from it, and possibly not check this thread anymore but:

I hope they put Secret of Evermore on the VC.

Oh come on, I hear your rage and anguished wailing and feel you're overreacting. SoE was an awesome game in its own right, and if it wasn't as good as SoM it really doesn't matter because it wasn't a sequel to SoM. I really freaking like that game and would be thrilled if the (reformed...?) Nintendo VC team (do they have a team? that would be an awesome job.) got it out there alongside Pocket Pool Party Games or whatever shovelware they're releasing for WiiWare that week.

also, inb4 rabid Squaresoft fanboys saying "Oh you like Evermore? try Final Fantasy Mystic Quest lawl sick burn"

There really is no reason not to release them. The question is when, not if, but unfortunately Squeenix seems to be spacing things out. Still, we now have Secret of Mana, Actraiser, and Super Mario RPG (who knows how much input Square had in that release though) in less than two years, and Japan has Treasure Hunter G, Front Mission, and Hanjuko Hero besides. Besides the Quintet titles (and Ogre Battle series), I'd like to see Robotrek & EVO: Search for Eden as well. No chance they'll be rereleased, updated, or tapped into any time soon, so there shouldn't be any excuses not to put them on the Virtual Console.

Sorry to get between you and Bear Hugger, Rimmer. :( I know how much he means to you. Just think of how all those poor contestants who never won anything feel though. ;-)

Edit:

Secret of Evermore certainly isn't terrible - it may even be good. But when I stumbled into a nasty bug in the middle of the game that forced me to completely restart - I completely soured on the game. That's why I haven't included it on any of my Squeenix wish lists so far. Plus I still have the cart. :lol

Honestly, for eight bucks Mystic Quest would be a pretty decent buy. It's got great music, the visible enemy damage is a cool feature, and the game is actually kind of fun, albeit simple. It can't hold a candle to any of its SNES Final Fantasy brethren, but it's not bad.

Really, the only Square Enix games I would think are impossible for the VC are the FF and DQ games (as well as a couple other exceptions, such as Chrono Trigger, what with the DS release). Obviously, they aren't chomping at the bit to get their back catalog up there, but I wouldn't be shocked at the odd release now and then.

So i see that Nintendo was keeping the big release for the fall seasons. It's been some weeks in a row they have an update with games people were waiting for.

Looks like they manage the VC just like the retail releases! I thought they'd be different.
That's really bad, with an online service like that i would have bought more games while there's not many retail releases. I also thought they said VC was manage in order to patch holes like this but it's bull. Now it's fall time, there's plenty of games and their downloads will simply wait.

Also, release Alien fucking Crush already.

So, you're saying you don't know.

AFAIK all fatal bugs in the US SNES release of SoM are replicable in SoM VC. The only specific one being when Jema gives you a Sword Orb in Tasnica, if you've glitched the game (which can be reproduced) to already have a LV9 Sword, the game will crash and you will be unable to continue on that file. You will then be required to start a new save file as there is no way to advance the plot otherwise.

If you like great physics, quirky puzzle games, polished presentation, unique gameplay, etc. etc. etc. you should be ashamed if you have not already downloaded and started to enjoy World of Goo.

I have no money, so no Secret of Mana or world of goo or, well, anything for me.

Unless someone's feeling generous :-P
