Official Fable II Thread

I'm surprised there haven’t been more print reviews. Where’s Game Informer, Gamepro and the like?

Also, to those who have it, how hard are the achievements to get?

I hear that besides the game being great, getting fat is the new getting old. 2 beers, a piece of pie and your a fat wonker for the duration. Anyone of the earlies can confirm that?

Certain vegetables like celery will lower fat.

Ahh, just found out that you get all the items you unlocked in pub games by visiting a game master in any pub in the game. There is one in the first major city you visit.

Sweet, thanks man! I was looking for a way to do that.

Also, to whomever asked: it probably won't be necessary to play Fable 1, but there are a few cool moments right at the beginning that pertain directly to Fable 1, and some references as well.

I played the original Fable this summer to get ready for Fable 2, and I'm glad I did.

EDIT- The Master Chief armor is awesome. Running around at night, all you could see of my character was the glowing energy sword.

So my boss isn't letting me take home a copy early because he's scared that if I play it while connected to LIVE I'm somehow going to get banned and it'll look bad for him.

Live has never banned anyone for playing a game early. I'm sure you realize that, though. Sucks that your boss doesn't.

Also, there is a privacy setting where you can make your that nobody sees what you are playing. (of course Microsoft does, but after the retail and the warez leak does it really matter...?)
Did you actually bother to read the link? He tried to get into a internal beta with a exploit and got banned for it. In fact, I remember Microsoft saying last year they werent going to ban people if they got the retail game early.

Cocopjojo how are you doing on expressions? I'm trying to obtain them all.

So far I appear to be missing for the earned ones.
"Scary Laugh"
"Kiss My Ass"

Rude: Assuming that is "Kiss My Ass" that is the only one missing.
Scary: Missing Top Left, Right, Bottom Right.
Social: Have all.
Fun: Missing Top Right, Bottom Left.
Flirty: Have all.
Dog: Missing Top Left.

So I just watched the first ten minutes of the game and the breadcrumb trail that takes you to your next place of interest kinda has me concerned. It looked very annoying to begin with, plus I don't want my hand held like that. I enjoy figuring stuff out in games not being pointed to where I need to be the entire game.

Does anyone know if you can turn the breadcrumb trail off? For those that have played the game, is it super annoying or what is your take on it?

Your boss is an idiot. Microsoft would not ban someone for obtaining a retail copy of the game before its release. If they did that then what would happen if some parent who knew nothing about the game found a copy at like target or something before release and gave it to their kid? There is just too many scenarios plus this is a worry when EVERY SINGLE GAME comes out early and people are never banned. I cant think of any stories of a ban for any game for playing early.

Yeah you can turn it off and also adjust its brightness.

Time to play :D

banning from XBL is the very least of his boss' worries.

How is the framerate during combat with multiple enemies on screen? This was the only problem I had with Fable 1.

The game is very smooth, I never had any slowdown. I think it's 30fps locked.
The only technical issues are some pop-ups (not as much as in GTA IV though) and maybe the IQ could have been better. But it looks really good, thanks to the awesome lightning and art direction.

Microsoft CANNOT ban you for purchasing a game early. It is perfectly legal for you to buy whatever is on a shelf, no matter what the street date is. All they can do is penalize the retailer for breaking the street date.

IT MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE TO THINK MICROSOFT WILL PUNISH YOU FOR PURCHASING A GAME FROM A STORE AND TAKING IT HOME TO PLAY IT.

(Now, when I say they can't ban you, of course they technically have the ability to ban anyone they want. But they would quickly and justifiably be sued for it, and face bigtime issues with the government and/or consumer advocacy groups.)

Ok, so we know that you gain money from all your shops/rented houses etc. even while your 360 is off; the longer you've gone without playing, the more money you get. I'm wondering how the game determines how long it's been since you last played? I'm hoping it's not by the 360's internal clock, because my xbox is connected to a surge protector and for whatever reason that makes the system clock reset to November 2005 each time I turn it on (and I can't connect to Live in my dorm room).

I don't think this works as advertised. In-game, you get money/rent every 5 mins or so. I turned the game off and went to bed. When I woke up, I was hoping to be rich, but it looks like I earned no money while the game was off.

I have a question :

How do you basically... uh... fuck ? I just got married and I bought a house but nothing happens when I come into it with my wife :(

So I was able to pick up a copy early at a Meijer. I also have the limited edition pre-ordered. Do I play the copy I got (regular edition) or wait for the limited?

Trade in your regular edition for the limited.

Play the copy you have. You got the game to play Fable II right? WTF are you waiting for.

Admittedly, but I do like the packaging and the armor/weapon included in the limited edition...

Yeah, I've ran into him a few times in various places around the world.

Also thank everyone for their kind words and help the other day about my illness. At first I didn't want to mention it on GAF in fear that people would treat me differently. Thanks to everyone's kind donations in Bowerstone I'm STD and corrupt-free. I have a beautiful wife Stacey and a young daughter now. I now spend my time in Old Bowerstone giving free sock puppet shows to the less fortunate children as a way of giving back to the community. Also I killed that cunt of a barmaid carrying the hiv....fucking force pushed her into the fucking ocean.

Ok..that was funny....We need someone to get all of Sanjuro posts in this thread and put it together in one message, just reading all of them sequentially would be really funny!!!

Good job on executing that bitch.....

Ill tell you what Fable 2 needs, and what it probably doesnt have, is like an incredibly hard boss or creature like in the final fantasy games that you have to max out your character and find all the ultimate weapons and everything before you can face them. Fable 1 i lost interest in doing all the secret stuff cause there wasnt a point to it beyond being curious. I hope fable 2 better implements this stuff.

Unfortunately i think achievements may be the only thing that compels people, but that may be enough...

I saw a video uploaded by some guy who imported about 100,000 glitched gold. All that happened was he got some corruption points.

Cool. I've got a bit over 800,000 and I'm going for 2,000,000 by tuesday.

Well, the first one had the arena which was kind of difficult. That's sort of an optional, endgamey, boss mode style game.

Not sure how hard it is though. Maybe it need a good dragon or two.

Don't you worry that's going to ruin your entire game experience?

Buying the best equipment right at the start of the game never seems very fun to me. Though it would be cool to invest it in a nice big house.
