Anyone order with release date delivery on Amazon? I did and mine still hasn't shipped. I hope Amazon doesn't let me down.. :/

I took my sweet ass time with Fable 1 and still only got 25 hours out of it. I'm seriously worried that I hear all this talk about the the play times being 10-15 hours. Grinding gold for houses doesn't sound like fun side activities for me.

Is there a LOT of side quests?

Only 25 hours?

Only? How many hours are games supposed to last?

It's gone. Which is a shame, because that Hobbe looks great.

Seriously. I like games I can beat within 6 months :lol

Mine says "shipping soon" but hasn't gone out yet. I'm pretty close to a distribution center, so I'm not too surprised.

yet when fable 1 was released people stated it was a 6 hour game... and 25 hours is short now... you kids need other activities.

Got a question for those with the game... can you buy dog elixirs anywhere? My dog keeps dying. I'm wondering if it's because I'm casting Shock level 4 as an area effect spell. That's not frying my dog, is it? It keeps dying and disappearing. It could be because the dog is only level 3 fighting, and I'm going up against Bulverines, but I can't keep it alive, despite fighting pretty well, and I'm now out of dog elixirs.

I swear I read that you get a bottomless dog healing potion right at the start?

I'm pretty sure you can't hurt your dog. I cast level 5 inferno all the time and he doesn't take damage from it. As to your other question, I'm not sure. I've found enough potions to keep him in good health. Did you try checking the potion shop in Bowerstone? If not him, maybe the general store to your right just as you enter the town gates. I know he had some dog-related items.

Wrong pic..
A few pages ago, pics of the Limited Edition were posted:
  • Regular DVD case, with the silver boxart..sideways (front: good with evil shadow, back: evil with good shadow); inside a cardboard slip.
  • Inside: Instruction booklet with the same silver cover as the LE, card containing the code for the downloadable content; 2 discs in their own trays.

The actual content of the Limited Edition are:
  • Otherworldly set (i.e. Master Chief-like armor and Energy Blade-sword)
  • New dungeon available at the beginning of the game, which unlocks an exclusive (and powerful) weapon.
  • 40+ minutes documentary with interviews
  • Art gallery

Posted this in the IGN Review thread but another good review.

Figured I'd post this in here:
http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/fable-2/review/

9.4 Take it for what it's worth coming from an achievements site.

I like how in their score summary they have a seperate rating for achievements, very good :D

Dude real rpgs last at least over 100 hours. For teh tru xperience. ;)

25 hours sounds good. I'm lacking the time to invest 50-100 hours in an RPG.
Fuck, Persona 3 took me 80 hours and that's about as tru-RPG as I can handle.
But seriously, this game sounds like it gets its replay value from customization and co-op. 25 hours is fine by me.

Hahaha. I love achievements but that's funny.

I've been charged and my status is shipping soon. It's been at "shipping soon" since 7 a.m. :(

I'm starting to think that 'Release Date Delivery' is just overnight from the day before. I don't know how late overnight shipping usually ships, but I guess it's after 5pm (5:30 for me on the east coast).

I know there's this mentality that RPGs need to be a 100 hours long, but i couldn't even get myself to finish Infinite Undiscovery/Lost Odyssey/FFXII. And IU is supposed to be short, too bad the story sucks.

Seriously, just stop with the filler shit. I want a a game with pace in the main story quests, with more awesome shit happening at each hour instead of every 5 hours.

Just throw sidequests in there for the people who think 15 hours isn't enough.

I ordered Saint's Row 2 via Amazon's release day delivery and it said "shipping soon" almost up until midnight the day before release. It went out ok and was at my house by 10am the next morning. Don't fret you guys, I'm sure they'll go out in time, some update slower than others is my guess.

Nah, release date delivery means you get it on the release date, sometimes Amazon updates really late. Mine has been shipped and i have a tracking number.

Unless amazon fucked up it will ship soon or has already shipped and they haven't updated yet.

I just think it's very silly to call something GOTY (with a review, not just the term being thrown around casually) when there are handfuls of other big name, high potentials releases later in the year. Now, Fable II might end up being the GOTY for some magazines and websites, but I just feel that it's too early to write off LBP, Banjo, Gears2, Left 4 Dead, (I want to put a Wii title here... :/), etc.

I haven't used Amazon before, does it require a signature on delivery?

Ah come on LO is only ~35 hours. And XII is long as hell, but try to finish it eventually, it's so fun :O
I think they should keep releasing both kinds of RPGs, the Fable/Oblivion kind, and the Persona/Final Fantasy long as hell kind. But the mentality that RPGs NEED to be long is BS.

The fuck is this shit?

I went to Gamestop to preorder it and they said they were filled with orders. Then the guy tells me they took all of the stuff out of the LE edition so now it's just the same as the regular but with a different case?

Is that guy just an idiot or did I miss something?

Well worst case scenario I'll just cry T_T
I just hope they don't mess up with Gears, since that comes out on a Friday and weekend shipping might be slow/nonexistent.

I've never had to give one with a video game order.

Naw, the differences are in the OP, but they did change some items in the package from the original LE. When you say they were filled with orders was he just talking about the LE version?

lol nice. I already have to wait at the house on the 22nd for my 360. I really don't want to spend two days just sitting and waiting so this is good news.

Well my local GS wouldnt let me preorder Fable II this late either. I mean its hot, but its not THAT big of a title.

Sometimes amazon delivers via USPS as well. Especially if its just a DVD size case.

Do the 24-7 Walmarts sell big release games at midnight? Im going to be near one, and was thinking about stopping by after MNF.

Yea, I couldn't change my pre-order from SD to LE on my lunch break today... Switched my Fallout 3 pre-order to Fable II on Saturday morning, though.

Can someone explain the offline co-op more in-depth for me? The OP says this...

*Offline co-op guest can be chosen from either a prefab character or can be imported from an existing Fable II save on the systems harddrive or memory card.

but IGN made it sound much more limited.

"Here's the catch: A henchman brings with them all their experience and skills but none of their weapons or their character model. The henchman must play with a preset character design."

Someone help me out here.

Nope, the potion shop in Bowerstone doesnt sell dog elixirs. Also, the general goods shop has collars and treats, but no elixirs. I think they're the only thing that can cure your dog if its on its last legs. The dog treats dont seem to heal when your dog is near death.

I've called my local Walmart which is 24/7 and the electronics guy said "I don't know if we have it and I can't find out." and I asked him if I showed up at midnight whether I could buy it and he said "I'm not sure. You'd have to come in and see."

Great. I'm planning on calling back around 9 or 10pm and asking the electronics person working then if he's going to be the same guy working at midnight and if I came in whether he could find the game for me or not.

My guess is that he or she won't know and won't be able to do it without a manager there, and they have skeleton crews at midnight so I'll be fubar.

Shitload of side quests. Main storyline is about the same length as Fable 1's. This has way more to do overall than the first game, though.

I just finished. Really interesting ending.

Musings that don't reveal what the ending is, who the boss is etc... but just why it's interesting:
The game has more of a 'moral choice' than a final boss. The final boss is a moral choice, so to speak.

I very much sense a Fable 3 or "Lost Chapters" DLC, though. The ending to Fable 2 is as 'cliffhangery' as the ORIGINAL ending to the original game.

Unless something changed during development, there was a video that showed Peter using a healing spell on the dog. Have you checked your spells to see if there is one of those?

edit: Granted that video was the actual first introduction of the dog to the public/gaming writers.

Yeah just the LE version was filled.

Do you think Walmart will have the LE edition? All I want from the LE really is the Spartan Armor and that special dungeon to be honest.
