Wednesday? But every sales paper (including Best Buy) says the 21st. Thats just strange.

Oh, shit. Hopefully Gamestop hands me one with the code.

What the hell happened that caused MS to fuck up this LE so badly?

Microsoft happened. I'm seriously not surprised by their screw-ups anymore.

I'd just print out the ad and show it to them. Either that or grab one from the front if they give you any trouble.

picked this up from a mom and pop game store in my hood tonight and am hooked. i'm sure i'm not saying anything that hasn't been said but it's like a charming fairytale version of oblivion. i predict that after gears 2 this will be the biggest selling ms property this holiday...at least it should.

I wasn't realy interested in Fable 2 until I read some of the reviews and the game sounds astonishing.

However I do have one query, because perhaps its somewhat hard to believe. Is it true that you actually can not die in this game? Like you just keep playing? what happens if a big monster gets to you?

I've never really enjoyed RPGs due to having to level up and up and up but then still be smashed by some big monster but Fable 2 seems to not have this.

I am on the right wave length ? That's what I am gathering from reviews.

Since every copy of Fable II comes with a 48-hour Gold trial, and I encourage anybody who doesn't need it to share the wealth with your fellow gaffers here.
I'll definitely be doing that. Hopefully Amazon will send the "complete" LE copies out. Otherwise, I'm not sure who I would have to call in order to get the extras.

What's the situation at Walmart? I plan to there in the wee hours of the morning to pick up the game after I get done with these midterm papers.

OMG Well that's a first for me.:lol Was so excited for the release and taking a day off from work after playing until 4am. Why the hell was I thinking it was tomorrow night?
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!
I went there and paid it off today also. I'm stunned at my stupidity.

Pretty much. You might get walloped and loose a bit of exp, but you never truly die.

And yes insta impressions please. I wonder if the co-op patch goes live at 12:00am PST as well (since everything seems to run by PST)?

You can't die. When your health reaches zero, you get "knocked out," and you fall to the ground. You lose XP and then you get back up at full health - every time this happens, you get scarred. And the scars are (as far as I know) irreversible. Accumulate enough scars and you'll be looked down on by people in the game.

I think that this works really well. I don't want to lose XP and I don't want to be repulsive, so I've gone out of my way to be sure that I have plenty of pots on hand whenever I'm on a quest.

I can't think of any time during the game where I had to grind to be able to get past a section.

How is the leveling, actually? There's no level scaling, is there? Fable 2 seems like it would be exceptionally fun to explore in, and level scaling would seriously rob it of some of that.

AUS GAF, was at EB today, they where phoning everyone up Fable 2 is out now, think the date got pushed forward because of the K-Mart fuck up, so go get it...... i didnt get it, might be able to get LBP on Thursday.... will see.

There isn't leveling, but you do learn moves, spells, and have access to better weapons as you progress through the game. The enemies have different methods of attack, and that's how things are made harder. The first enemies you encounter don't block and they are very slow. As you make your way further into the story, and more areas are opened up to you, you'll come across enemeis that may block more, or may cast spells to deal damage. I always seemed to encounter these guys right as I had gotten strong enough to deal with them. But even if you aren't strong enough, you can just play it smart. Stand back and shoot at them, roll on the ground to dodge their strong attacks if you can't take the hits. Things like that. Most of the hardest enemies (excluding bosses) in the game could probably be beaten when you're at a low level, if you strategize, and play off of their moves and weaknesses.

Do you stumble upon those tougher enemies while exploring, though, or do you have to advance in the story first? I guess that relates to how open the environment actually is to you off the bat, or if you have to "unlock" sections first through the story.

You know, I don't know how the unlocking of areas works. Your quests, of course, involve going places... so whenever I got to a new place, I did all of the side-quests, and then the main quest. At which point it told me to go to another new place to continue the story. Maybe someone else here has tried progressing further without completing the main quests.
Teknoman said:
So what do you guys think would be the best way for adventuring? Crumb trail on or off?
Definitely on. I was against it at first, but you definitely need it. The world is too huge and confusing without it.

I just have one deciding factor to getting this game or not - length.

I just want to know, how long is the Single Player? I've heard it's around 10-15 hours...but I'm not sure. I'm also not sure what you can do after you finish the main storyline of the game..I mean, is that it? Or is there more to do? I want to get this game..but I can't justify the $60 if it's only 10-15 hours long (with the exception of games that have Xbox Live).

So, is there really much to do after you finish the main storyline and everything?

Also..how is the freedom? Can I really do whatever I want? Like, burn villages down..break into peoples houses and rob them; that sort of stuff? I would much rather break into the castle and take it over than save up cash to buy it >:)

But doesn't it ruin the experience of exploration? :\
I dunno, I guess it's different for many people..it just feels like they're holding my hand through the game with the inclusion of a crumb trail. It's just like a guide, which make me feel very dirty every time I look into them :lol

Did you ever follow the dog around? I think one of his main purposes is to purposefully lead you astray from the main path and off to explore other things.

You could break into houses and kill everyone in there, yeah. But you'd have guards constantly after you. And you can rob peoples' houses, too. Like, go in and steal all of their gold and items.

And there's no way that this game is 10-15 hours. If you absolutely book it through the entire game and don't spend time doing ANY sidequests, then maybe it could be 10-15 hours. But that'd be dumb. I would check how many hours I've played, but I'm not sure how. I can almost guarantee you, though, that if you enjoy the game, then you won't feel like it is too short. There are plenty of things to do, even after you've completed the main storyline.

EDIT: The dog will alert you when there's treasure. He won't just take you down some random path for no reason other than the fact that it's not the way that you're supposed to be going. And you (or someone) asked about the breadcrumb trail removing the sense of exploration. I don't think it does that. It'd be really frustrating, I think, to know that you need to go to someone's house and just have to search house by house until you find it. Or to know that you need to go to the Temple of Light in Oakfield and not have any idea whether or not it is north, south, east or west of the city.

The best part is, though, that you can just turn it off until you decide that you want it! Or leave it off if you don't want it. It's your call and it only takes 3 seconds to switch it on or off.

Hmm...I guess the dog will probably serve to pull your off to other areas. And if not, you could just go off the trail yourself.

Nah you'll definitely need it. I turn it off at times just to get lost when im not doing a quest but unless you have pateince * 1000 you'll end up turning it back on once you need to go somewhere specific. You can get around by just using the map at the pause screen and reading signs on the road but the world is WAY too big to try and get thru the entire game that way IMO.
I would check how many hours I've played, but I'm not sure how.
Logbook > Stats scroll to the bottom. I'm just over 50000 seconds now (13 hours). My GOTY right now.

Your dog will alert you when you are near a treasures that may be hidden behind a house, or under some bushes or something. He'll bark and you'll follow him for five seconds to a treasure or dig spot.

In rare cases, the dog will lead you to a "quest item" that would be very impossible to find otherwise. For example, a dig spot that contains a quest item - when you enter the forest or the city that contains this item, your dog will alert you that there's treasure. When you start following him and he doesn't lead you to it within a few seconds, you'll realize that it is for a quest item.

In my Logbook (from the pause menu) I only have

Personality
Expressions
Completed Quests
Achievements
Help

The dog also fights with you, right? Does he do anything else?

Since you age as the game progresses, I wonder if the dog ages as well, and if there's potentially an Old Yeller moment later in the game.

Damn. Tomorrow evening needs to be here now. I have too many questions I need answered from Molyneux Part Deux.

My bad. It's under Personality.
Ack, I should have have known that.

Based on my playtime, I'd say that you could probably finish the main story in under ten hours. I'm on my second playthrough now, since my first one ended due to a game-breaking bug (story starts here), and I breezed through the first half of the game this time just to try and get back to where I was in the story. Right now I have about 15 side-quests waiting to be started. I have been really, really impressed with these. They are not Mass Effect-style boring sidequests that occur in generic caves. Some are (like "Rescue the Slaves!", but a lot of them are really fleshed out with their own islands, caves, forests, dialogue, puzzles, and humour.

Very nice.

I just called my Gamestop and they had about 45 L.E. Reserved and NONE of them have the codes. They said they got the email today in regards to the issue and as previous stated, if it does not have the Sticker on it, then it does not have the code. While I got the game early, I promised the regular edition to my Godson, which I sent to him today via UPS...now..I am screwed with the L.E. since I have played about 7 hours of the game, I wanted to have the DLC L.E. Content.

This is a major cluster fuck...first they stripped the L.E. of what they originally were going to put into the game and now they screwed up by not putting the stuff they should have.

I wonder if my Best Buy will have the L.E. with the stickers on them...I can always move my reserver to payoff Gears 2 or Resistence 2...this sucks too as I was going to go to the midnight launch.
