Official Fable II Thread

So I got a LE edition, and inside it comes with a card with a code thing and some hints on how to get to the spot to unlock the downloadable dungeon and also mentions a
chest near the first teleporter in the game. I got to the first chest and it mentions going to www.fable2.com for details.

How do I get the spartan armor and energy sword? The site says nothing about it, only flash games that apparently unlock some items.

That chest you found is not the one that has the Spartan Armor and Sword in it. The card tells you, just like you typed "it is next to the first teleporter". The chest you found has been known to be tied to the Fable2.com site. While that is a teleporter, it is not the one that you need.

I can confirm that those that have the 48 Hour Trial sticker on the front of the L.E. Boxes "ARE" the ones that have the code card and the 48 trial card. My Gamestop had over 50 L.E. without the sticker, the Game Crazy 2 miles down the street had about 15 L.E. all with the stickers and the code inside.

This is really f'd up by any standards. There is still no timing on when people that got screwed will get the codes.

Play-Asia just shipped my order! So psyched.

I finished Dead Space last night, I have a week to get through this before Fallout 3, which I only have a week to get through before Resistance 2. I think I'm gonna need a few sick days. :lol

As many stated, don't rush the game. Explore and you will get more "game" out of the "game". Also, Gears comes out on the 7th, so your time between Resistence and Gears is going to be murder for you :lol :lol :lol

No, I won't rush. This is one RPG that certainly demands to be played as organically as possible. And I'm still not soured on the co-op yet, either, so if anyone needs more 360 friends for this, hit me up (same as GAF username).

I'm on the fence on this.

Don't know what to get: Fable 2, Dead Space, Far Cry 2 of Fallout 3.
Eventualy I'll get most, but what right know. Never played Fable.

I totally lost interest for jrpgs years ago btw. This isn't one obviously and it kinda keeps my interest.

I have no idea if I'll like it, I can't remember last time I played similar game if ever.

But I want to risk.

I don't play on live. You guys think it's worth to get the game only for sp experience without any dlc?

Oh and question: Hard Drive isn't required for this, right?

You're wrong. That chest is the one you get your LE items out of. It is also the one you get your items from fable2.com as well. I posted pictures of it earlier in this thread. To get the LE items, you have to go to Xbox Live marketplace and enter the redemption code, download the content, then access that chest to get your loot.

Ugh, Xbox.com is a piece of crap.

I played the game to get the chicken costume, right? And I click the button to go to the site and redeem my suit and it asks me to log into Windows LIVE.

So I use three different email addresses that I have or have had in the past and the password I would have used and none work. So I tell it to look it up. But none of the addresses are valid.

No problem, so I click Register. Third step of registration it asks for an Xbox LIVE gamertag. So I enter mine.

Next page it says it's ALREADY TAKEN. Yeah, it's taken.. BY ME YOU FUCKERS! So I click the nice link that says "Yeah, this is my tag." and it takes me to a registration page and won't let me log in.

So I go to live.Xbox.com to get around it and try just logging in from there, but the "Log In" link keeps taking me to a Signup page. Not a Login page.

Fuck you, Xbox LIVE website. I curse you to hell. Such a horrible site. Now the tab that had my costume redeem button in it is closed. I WANT MY CHICKEN COSTUME!!

I like the setting (and the dog, of course) but other than that I'm not impressed so far. All the Sims aspects seem pointless, combat is very easy and basic and the quests and dialogue aren't interesting. It's still fun though and I've only played for a few hours so perhaps it will improve.

I'm thinking about getting this but I'm worried it's not long enough. I don't want a game I can blast through in two days and never touch again. I know the main quest is a bit short and that's ok as long as there is plenty of side quests and other content to keep my occupied for tens of hours. Is this the case?

I've logged about 15 hours, and I think I'm 2/3rds of the way through the main storyline. I also skipped a lot of side quests, but I did all the jobs and always dig for treasure when the dog finds it.

VGplus processed my order, can't wait til it arrives

Question: I'm probably gonna do my first playthrough on my own, anyone else waiting to do co-op until they've finished it once? For me it's kinda beneficial since you get to know the world and the game.

Look you could probably finish everything in 20 hours. It's not Oblivion, but then, it doesn't need to be.

Same here. I want to explore and experience the world at my own pace. I'll also be shutting off orbs completely on my first play-through, since I don't want any dirtbags to gift me money.

Online coop is an abysmal failure. I can't believe they fucked it up so bad. Not only can my friend NOT bring in his character, but it forces us to share a screen as if it was couch coop. The fuck is the point of playing online if it's forcing us to share a screen? That's like an FPS doing split screen when playing online. Fucking retarded. My friend and I played for 5 minutes and decided never to do coop again.

And there's no way that this game is 10-15 hours. If you absolutely book it through the entire game and don't spend time doing ANY sidequests, then maybe it could be 10-15 hours. But that'd be dumb. I would check how many hours I've played, but I'm not sure how. I can almost guarantee you, though, that if you enjoy the game, then you won't feel like it is too short. There are plenty of things to do, even after you've completed the main storyline.

Friend of mine finished the game in about 7-8 hours first time through and said it was shorter than Fable I. Of course, he didn't bother much with side-quests etc.

This is the worst news of the year. Went from must-buy to no buy. Thanks.

You don't see / hear anything either way in the E3 demo.

Edit - was originally talking about the offline co-op

I guess to be fair...online co-op wasnt originally planned. But shared screen is sorta lame. Even playing a game like LBP, shared screen online co-op can mess you up.

Still waiting for more impressions though. Could still be fun if gone into with an open mind.

Shared screen is very lame, all I remember reading about how great co-op was going to be with all the great features. They seemed to have forgetten one small aspect through all that PR work obviously.

It's definitely long enough. Much more content than the original. I'm around 25-30 hours in, probably quite close to the end of the main quest, but there's a lot to do in the game. The main quest might not be much longer than the original's, but there's more sidequesting to do.

Rent it. Seriously. Just rent it. First to see if you will actually like it, then to find out if you blast through everything (main story and side quests). Make it a weekend rental and you'll probably do just that.

"This game is meant to be explored..." is code for "If you stretch it out..." to me. The vast, vast majority of people who play this game won't or can't be bothered to do so. So, just rent it and see where you end up.

Anyone knows if your able to get ALL of the items from the flash game, or does it just give you one?

Thanks in advance

What I dont understand is why you can trade with orbs over XBL or just give them items, yet it seems you cant give a "henchman" anything in online co-op. I can understand shared screen offline, but online just doesnt make sense.

And both ways for using your actual hero. Think there is a way they can issue a patch to let you play as your hero online with others? Generic henchman/woman makes sense offline so people can just jump in whenever, but online?

When we first started our coop game (after the initial shock of realizing we wouldn't ever be able to quest together with our own characters, and the fact that we had to share a screen) there was a glimmer of hope in the combat being fun. Little did we realize that navigating to each combat area is the biggest chore in the history of moving your character from point A to point B. The camera is just terrible and you basically end up running your character against the edge of the path in the general direction you want to run. It's just....unforgivably awful.

:( Damn. They need to find a way to fix this stuff.

And I hope they dont pull some lost chapters crap where you have to pay for extra DLC that enables you to use your hero online with others.

Yeah, I have it worse.

I'm picking up R2 as well, but Gears is going to be my main MP game. I'm really just buying Resistance for the campaign, and the beta didn't do much to change my mind.

AND, my wife discovered the Rick Springfield DLC for Guitar Hero, so now I have to pick that up too (I was just going to stick with Rock Band this year!). So screwed.

Oh, and I'm only at the beginning of chapter 8 in Dead Space. Heh.

Looks like that 1up review is going to end up docking a couple of points when they finish up then.

/conspiracyon

I wonder if that's why they patched in online co-op after most reviews were done

If you're afraid that you have to go out of your way to make the game longer, don't be. You might be able to do the main quest in ten hours or so if you really really hurry, but the rest of the content is exactly as easy to get to as the main quest and it doesn't feel like stretching it out at all. I'm not talking about the sims thing either, which you can certainly waste a lot of time with, but I didn't bother with that aspect at all (although I did all the money-making games to five stars and own loads of property)...there definitely seems to be enough normal RPG-type content. Not at all like TH for example, which is way, way too short.

Edit: and by really hurrying, I mean leaving out all sidequests, always using quick travel when you can, and generally just rushing through. I think I'd probably have needed ten hours or so to get to the point in the story I'm at now. If you do play at this pace, then forget this game though.

I was giving him an option to check out the game with really no pressure. That's all. I'm only a couple of hours into the game myself (if that) and I can see what you mean, but it all depends on the kind of person you are. If you're unsure, $5-7 rental is better than a $60 purchase.

Yeah, you're right of course, but I think people were quite afraid that this'll be as short as the first one. I just want to emphasise that the game has quite enough content. You said ""This game is meant to be explored..." is code for "If you stretch it out..." to me. " which, in the case of this game, doesn't really apply (unlike for example TH). You *can* finish it in 10 hours but that's more like finishing Fallout in fifteen minutes - not indicative of the amount of content in the game, which is there, just optional. If someone can't bother with anything but the main quest, they should just forget about the game :-)
