The Orbs system really gives it an MMO type feel. I love it.

Thanks in advance

if you want the game that badly and its a collectors, how does it hurt you to put 5 bucks down?
Billen said:One of the main things in fable is the appearance of the character changing according to the players behaviour. Another thing that Molyneux told people about was the lack of armor, because everyone dressed in the same armor and without it everyone could dress the way THEY want.
So what if they don't? That's their prerogative.soldat7 said:Do any of you people bother with single-player games anymore? Sheesh...

As the Masterchief suit/armor and his weapon are located in a chest early on in the game. I've only just reached that stage myself, and I know once some people have passed this chest they can't figure out how to get back there (though I would assume it would have to be possible).
John Harker said:There is no reason to pre order a game these days. Unless there is special incentives you want from a publisher. It aint like it used to be. The industry is far more mainstream, you can go into gas stations and buy games. Retailers stock up on so many copies, and so many additional non-traditional retailers carry games, everything is generally available.
But that's not the point here anyway.
It's rotten that you can have product visible behind you and refuse to sell to someone who didn't opt into your pre order program. That's just generating ill will. Consumers have choices now. So now I'll choose to spend my money elsewhere this time, your loss GS.

LunaticPuma said:I think the point is, if they have LEs that are not reserved for pre-orders, why wouldn't they sell them today?
The answer is because they're stupid.
zaidr said:I actually get why this has been done like this. I was under the impression that it was a technical hurdle they didn't have to tools or the time to undertake...but reading though this thread, I've come to the definite conclusion that it was a part of the game design (I am talking about not being able to take your character into another player's game, not same screen co-op).
This game has a lot to do with your character developing because of the decisions he makes though the game, and the world changing around him because of these decisions. How would you be able to do that if you play though sections of the game through your friend's game if you're your own hero? It just makes sense for you to be a henchman. Also, it allows the host game to retain the level of difficulty and gameplay that the host player is supposed to have. If you do it where some highly leveled character enters your game and the enemies level to match, you're saying back and doing nothing because the high level character is the only one able to take them on. Or, if it doesn't level up the enemies, the high level character is just killing everybody and you're left doing nothing, ruining your experience.
To compensate for the fact that you want your friend with you when you play, with you both experiencing the same things story wise, you have the orb system. It just makes sense.
People should think about the game design, and what kind of game Fable 2 is.
This. The orb system is literally perfect for a game like this.zaidr said:To compensate for the fact that you want your friend with you when you play, with you both experiencing the same things story wise, you have the orb system. It just makes sense.

And scaled leveling wouldn't work? In other words, if I invite my uber friend into my world, it could just scale him down to my level - problem solved.zaidr said:Also, it allows the host game to retain the level of difficulty and gameplay that the host player is supposed to have. I'm jealous. You guys have some awesome friends. I got my friend Bioshock for his birthday and when mine rolled around... :'(Dunlop said:Nice, my buddy bought me ShadowRun once back when it came out, I had no freaking clue why...In the end I played that game like crazy.
I'm dying to get home to play Fable but forgot I have Aikibudo class tonight so won't be back until late : (
I didn't pick up the LE because of the problems I was reading about the missing codes and the extra's didn't seem too great. I have one last chance to exchange the copy before I leave work...Should I do it?
I had no fucking idea what Aikibudo was either until my buddy had me sign up with him...think aikido with swords

Kiriku said:I am 100 % convinced he will do the same with his next game, and that a lot of people will buy into it completely - again (including a good number of people now going "oh, I'll never fall for that again, Molyneux!"). Which is expected, because so many people WANT everything he says to be true as he usually makes it sound so awesome and ambitious. He's like a PR machine.![]()
zaidr said:Ok, so what you're saying is, just have the same thing as the henchman system here, but have it so he looks like the custom made character. But doesn't your character look different based on the things he does? If he can't do the stuff he leveled up to do, when whats the point? Just a cosmetic difference, as its been said before in this thread.
Y2Kev said:I think I can marry this woman like 20 seconds into the game. It's easy to impress people.
Hit the nail on the head, bro. I bolded the good parts.Haeleos said:That cosmetic difference is one of the big selling points of the game. Having the character's look, stats and equipment ported into the game. There's no technical hurdles to overcome other than sending a small file to the host that says what the character looks like and what gear he has. All the graphics are already in the game!
It's been done in plenty of games before... I realize there has to be a host player and the storyline is told through that character (because otherwise you'd have to rewrite dialogue and plot points, so it makes sense to ghost the other character out), but it just reeks of "rushed feature" that the second player can't at least look like his own character from his save file... even if he doesn't become more good/evil throughout the course of the co-op game, you should at least be able to bring your character over from your save file, along with bringing back loot that you found during the co-op game. It's really disappointing.
People just don't want to play the pregenerated characters that Lionhead are sticking you with, since it goes against this whole game's philosophy. It's also like: if in Diablo II co-op, players could only play the henchman characters that you could hire instead of rolling their own characters. That's a huge difference. Instead, you get to choose between spear man, amazon lady or caster dude.
Totally legit concerns. He wanted to play the game with his gf and he cant do it they way he thought he would be able to.gnarkill bill said:picky, picky, picky. Im sorry but I find that ridiculous. You're missing out on a great Singleplayer game.

I really don't see how any of this was misconstrued when there were on-stage demos and videos of said demos. He said in those that the henchman would be "based on" the 2nd player's character. Last time I checked, based on doesn't mean "is or exact". You could even see how the camera would work in those videos. The only thing I was surprised about was about not being able to bring in your weapons. Other than that, nothing was shocking to me.Psychotext said:The henchman vs your char thing is a shame (if nothing else, they should look like you). I must admit that I'm not too worried about the shared screen thing though... would be a hell of a lot better if you could control the camera independently though.
The people complaining about what Molyneux promised this time... what exactly did he promise? Think carefully because his PR handlers allowed him to say next to nothing. Assumptions made by us doesn't mean something said by him.
It's worth a go I would think. Has anyone else posted that they aren't able to talk to their friends too? Or are able to talk to their friends?Cocopjojo said:GAF, your opinion (on whether or not this would work - the fixing the problem part).
