Official Fable II Thread

Goddamn these talking doors, they're mean asshats some of them.

I'm coming up to the
crucible
in the game, and I feel like I want to be a bit more pimped out... I don't have any slotted weapons except for Hal's sword, and that thing kinda sucks. Also I'm curious if there are any 'legendary' swords and armour in the game, Oblivion style.

Right now though, I wanna own everything, or at least get good at turning houses. Does anyone here turn houses? I can see how it would be profitable (buy a house at a good amount, buy furniture when it's on sale, decorate - profit). I guess the real question is, resell or rent out?

And is polygamy something that can fly with your spouses? I mean, if your wife(s) love you enough, they'd have to be cool with it.

I need help with one achievement:

I currently have 2 children and 6 strangers all surrounding me because I just stood there and kept dancing. I want that "make 5 villagers dance with you" achievement. How do I do it?

There are legendary weapons in the game.

More like sounding awesome. It's about playing dress up with your character and not just following the stats around. It's grand.

Not lame as in no stats. Lame as in we cant wear any cool looking armor combined with the various clothing options.

How the hell do you gift people? I have a master chief costume i want to give a friend.

I had a horrible experience wwith co-op. Crazy bug removed my character sound fx and the camera was pretty spastic.

Utterly adore single player though. Have bought most buildings and have a few wives. Two in the same town. Once i beat the game and have a few mil I'm gonna kill all the men and try and have a wife in every house :D

Also, how do you teach tricks to your dawg. Books?

Come on, share that armor with me. I'll hook you up with plenty of books for dog tricks, or money, or whatever else you want. :) Spare me from having to buy the LE and sell my regular edition.

Alright, before I quit on this entirely, cursing, tell me this: the original Fable was hyped to have this big-ass dragon fight. The game we got was relatively short on content and of course, no dragon, massive letdown.

The question I'm asking here is as self-evident / obvious as it is spoilery.

Also how's the game balance in terms of difficulty? If too easy, is there at least some worthy end-game side content?
I distinctly remember fighting a big ass dragon in the first Fable, though maybe that was part of Lost Chapters.

Regarding the Demon Door in Rookridge:
The Memory Lane one. There's a door to a house there that you can interact with. It looks like there are people through the window, but when I interact with the door nothing happens. Doesn't open, doesn't say it's locked, nothing. Is this a bug?

I just picked this game for $20 :) Can't wait to play it tomorrow.

I traded in Far Cry 2 (PS3) because I don't have a PS3. Hope I made a good choice of getting Fable 2 over Far Cry. I just figured there are too many shooters, plus I have Gears 2 and COD5 coming up.

Sorry bro. Reserved for probably the most retardedly loyal Halo fan i know. He'll probably fart a hail of angels in happiness.

Otherwise I'd totally hook you up.

I'd like to know this too. The people look frozen in time though.

How long does it take in the game to get that armor? If you get it at the beginning couldn't you start a new game, grab it, and pass it along? Hmmm, I wonder if that will work...

I distinctly remember doing everything in the first Fable and being quit perturbed that was all there was.

I didn't pick up TLC; I was pretty scornful towards rebuying the game when I heard the additional content wasn't all that much, but if they put the dragon back in, and it was cool, I may have to figure out a way to get ahold of that.

I wouldn't be interested in even giving Fable 2 a chance if not for the co-op, but I'm not liking what I'm hearing ITT so far.

Same here.
And
Where the Demon Door are supposed to lead to ? Past ?

It's right when you start adulthood in a chest next to your start point.

Good idea btw...

Will do this over the weekend.

My gamertag is Wong Shun Leung. Send me a message when you add me so i know it's you.

I love my dog. I just noticed that he has gradually changed from a neutral greyish brown into a tan colored mutt. So amazing. And the villaigers love him. They pet him all the time. If I go in a building, I'll hear people outside remarking about how good a dog he is.

Which raises the question....

Why is my dog the ONLY DOG in the entire game?

I mean none of the other NPC's have pets? And why are there no cats? Would it be awesome if occasionally a cat would cross your path and your dog would chase it. You'd find a book to train it to not go after it. Just weird that there's one dog in the entire game and no cats. No deer either. Hell, there isn't much in the way of animals at all aside from rabbits and birds.

Do you mean the Pied Piper one? Just play your Lute for a bunch of admirers. At least 5. And do it well. Succeed and they'll love it and you'll get the points.

Yup, that was the final (final) fight with the Jack of Blades in Lost Chapters.

So they made the dragon like an extra form for Jack? That's kind of lazy compared to what I was expecting originally, but IIRC they already had the graphical design and everything for the dragon already done and on the disc, it just wasn't content you could access in game.

But at least that's something. Was that fight cool enough to warrant tracking down TLC somewhere?

Why did you have a game for a system you don't own in the first place?

Got my console back! :D Hot damn! Buuuuuuuuut, I'm going to wait to play because of the World Series game. If it gets out of hand, I'll hop on (I mean seriously, no team will be coming back from a huge deficit again this postseason..right? right?!)

The fight alone? No, but the Lost Chapters adds a good bit of 'endgame' quests (both story and otherwise) and items, so it's worth it in that regard.

Man... how does I orgy?

I got four women, one being my wife, to follow me to my house. Used the Come Hither expression and chose a sex option. (I am out of condoms) It went to black for a second then back to the game. No cut scene. When I came back my wife had stormed off. And was coming back into the room. She said "I won't stand for this much longer". So I tried again, this time choosing her to start. It went to a cut scene during which I could hear the other ladies chattering. Lights came back up and my wife loved me again. (Dammit. I need to dump her.. but I can't kill her. I am to nice!)

Plus I didn't even get any extra STD's. (I have one. From Alex. From the one time I did it with her unprotected when we had the baby.)

How does I orgy??

Ugh, and now two more women have come into the room.

A special notice to all achievement point whores --

At the end of the game you will have a choice. These are tied to 3 Achievements worth 25 points each. If you turn off the console right after that (no rush, you have plenty of time before it saves) you can go back and choose the other options one at a time. You will only have to replay about one minute of game. This way you do not have to play through the entire game 3 times to get them.

Good to know. :)

So this chest I can't access... it says go to fable2.com to find out how. Is it only accessible if you played Pub Games?

play your lute
thats how i got it i had about 10 people around me and i just kept playing (i was trying to woo this girl) and all of a sudden achievement unlocked

So my friend told me that in order to get the items you've won in Pub Games (talking about the tournament items, not the gold which I already transfered), you have to go back to the first cave at the beginning of the game that says "go out of your path to get stuff, do this, do that, etc.". What is this called so I can travel back there or am I not allowed to travel back there anymore?

To get the tournament items, you just need to speak to a GameMaster and initiate a game. Then quit the game and you will get the PubGame items. The chest in the Guild cave is for the online items or the DLC items.

What's up with the Gargoyles anyway? I always hear them yelling shit at me but I can't find them.

Dunno. I havent hit one yet. Saw one back in Bowerstone at the top of the gate, but I just got aiming a few seconds ago.

About difficulty...dunno if its the combat system, but those hobbes are aggresive lil bastards. Just had my first death.

They are usually on buildings or walls, shoot them to unlock items in the underwater cave. You get an item for every 10 you find. There are 50 total.

The first item I got was
Growl expression for the dog

I just picked up a copy at GS this afternoon. I'm playing it evil so far.

Graphics are pretty so-so at first, the outdoor areas in the sun are a bit better, but lots of screen tear and pop-in.

Wow. If it wasnt for the trail you'd REALLY get lost. Just made it outside that little seaside cave. Talk about off the standard path.

EDIT: Think I just found some stone megaliths...

Technically it's not that amazing, other than the wonderful lighting. The animation in particular is pretty wonky.

The art design and composition is fantastic though. Some of the best this gen. I think it's a great-looking game due to the combination of great lighting and art. I'm a lighting whore, though.

Whoo. Just made my way back to Oakfield
after doing the whole Hero of Will chapter in the Tattered Spire
. Yay. I got my doggie and stuff back. :)

I defied a lot of orders and lost a bunch of experience, but it was worth it.

Garth is Book. Nice to hear his voice again.

Jesus, the Gamestop is about a mile away from my apartment, but since I'm so swamped with school work, I can't muster up the will to go...
