Official Fable II Thread

Not familiar with those games, but I can confirm that you're able to disable the gold breadcrumb trail (you can also change the brightness of it, so that it'll still be there but very subtle).

Hey man thanks very much. Did you keep it yourself? Or did you get rid of it? I was wondering if fable was the type of game where you had lots of things to do or you would want to know where to go.

Can you come back to the Tomb of Heroes later in the game? Just in case I missed some silver key or gargoyle, I just want to know if I will lost the possibility to get any achievement in this game by missing it early.

You mean the place in the middle of the Lake where you eventually equip yourself with the first Will power? Then yes, you can return there.

I got rid of it right away and I haven't regretted it. Although, because the in game maps pretty much suck this makes navigating a little more difficult than it should be, but the more you play the more you remember where everything is. To me, having a big sparkling line pointing to where you should go next is a massive turn off, and thank god they let you turn it off.

Someone, somewhere really needs to make a nice Fable 2 world map, though. There isn't even one in the strategy guide, which is preposterous (and probably at Lionhead's request). I might make one myself this week if I have the time.

Well, I searched around and it's ANOTHER game-ending bug I stumbled upon. Pissed beyond belief and sent Lionhead a love letter:

Hi!

I just put up 60$ to buy Fable 2 and after seven hours of gameplay, I'm stuck at one of the numerous game-ending bugs that are reported through-out the web.

I can't believe Lionhead or even Microsoft haven't informed the general public about these problems by telling them how to prevent them and/or that a patch is being worked on to cover these problems.

The game was released on Tuesday and still no words from Lionhead or Microsoft. This is unacceptable and shows a great deal of disrespect to the consumer.

I'm a game-developper myself in one of the biggest studios in the world and I know products aren't perfect and contains bugs and glitches. However, game-ending bugs aren't tolerated and if the games would ever to be released with them in it, a communique would immediately be sent to warn people and reassure them before they purchase our product.

I hope Lionhead and Microsoft will address this problem immediately.

Sincerely,

a gamer who won't be buying into Lionhead's next trap.

It's a good thing he never promised you that then.

Exactly. Game is excellent really loving my dog.:lol

The general atmosphere and quality of the game is just superb can't believe some people are still asking if they should buy it or not.:lol

I like using my Will...

How to chain attacks work? I don't get it at all. I tried mashing attack, I tried delaying the presses(long and short waits, etc), but nothing. The tutorial said I've done it a few times(when you see a blue streak, I guess) but that seems really sporadic to show up.

Turn it to low brightness. When moving around, you'll hardly notice it unless you really need to.

So how do I get villagers drunk? I beat the game and forgot that was even possible.

Get the people to like you then just gift them the booze. It's pretty funny doing it to a group of people.

Simple question:
Is there armor in Fable II? I haven't seen any mention of it.

X26 said:
Nope

Good reasoning for it though

Fuck! I'm only two hours in so I obviously have no idea why there isn't any (I guess I find out later in the game?), but I'm kind of disappointed in hearing this :( When I think of the original Fable, I think of all the massive, hulking armor that accompanied the game.

Edit - I have high hopes for the DLC this game will have. The possibilities are endless.

This game needs two things:

1) Armor DLC, at a reasonable price, if not free (take a cue from Criterion!)

2) A LEGITIMATE MAP, PLEASE

Then it'll be poifect.

I can't emphasize the importance of the second one enough.

Need free DLC clothing and armor packs, weaponry packs (maybe quests to obtain some of these/ add them to the stores stock) and of course new areas via DLC.

Yeah, have no idea why there is no armor in the game. We dont care about if it adds stats, we just like they way it looks. Light and heavy armor variants would be nice to mix up with the current clothing options.

I wonder if the Lionhead community forums have a suggestion section? I mean one of the staff members there posts here...maybe he can lend an ear?

Feel like I'm in sort of a transitional period. Started off as a well-dressed goody little two-shoes fighting for justice and goodness, helping out my fellow man, being nice to people and getting them to like me. But I'm starting to see a lot of temptations and little reward. In fact, if you're being nice to people it feels like they're punishing you. They seem to think that just because I make a public display of my dancing and farting, that means I don't have a right to some privacy. They keep following me, everywhere, even into my house. If they don't stop it and leave me alone I fear I'm gonna have to react. My recently aquired nagging wife who I married purely out of guilt
Alex the ghost revenge woman
doesn't help either. Was gonna hook up with someone nice who owned some property, instead I got this...

Hence nowadays I run around calling myself Joker, stomp into people's homes at night and fart and dance and get arrested and sentenced with community service. Without pants. No one seems to mind that though. One guy even gave me a compliment. "With legs like yours I guess you don't need to wear pants."

Only a matter of time before I snap completely and join the dark side.

I think there should be DLC clothing. I don't think there's anywhere near enough. I haven't found enough hats!

I do wonder if since part of the reasoning of not having "2 heroes co-op", since each Albion only had 1 hero at the same time...
If they could make some kind of ...Fable Arena..on which you could take your custom character and compete against others in a series of challenges or against each other...

I think my game is bugged. I own a house and a bunch of shops, and the Bowerstone furniture store is having a big sale. I got there and all i can buy is some book on furniture. Wtf, none of the stuff there is showing up in the list. Does buying furniture unlock further in the story or something?

So, can anybody tell me if I can play online coop with a friend while both of us use our respective SP characters?

No, but don't let a simple "no" be the end of the answer. You can play with someone who has all of your character's stats and abilities, and you can earn gold for your character, and experience. It just won't look like you.

Well the second player technically doesnt have to be recognized as a hero. He/she could just be a henchman that just happens to look like a hero :lol

In all seriousness though, there isnt just one hero in Albion at this time either, so that really doesnt make sense. Since alot of users and even in every review of the game, has had the complaint about 2nd player online not looking like the other person's hero, I hope lionhead just caves and patches it in. When they patch the other glitches as well of course.

Seen hopes of a co-op patch in most of the online reviews as well.

I dont get the Map hate. Its just like crackdown's system

Thats what a dev does when they WANT you to learn the world. theres a loose map (that functions well as a reference) but no HUD GTA-style map.

btw, the game starts off hella slow, but it finally grabbed me when I died three times fighting the bad dudes dudes on the tall thingie.
'
The combat is the real star here. Wow, what a far cry from the awful, awful random battles of JRPG history.

I like how the game is more accesible than something like morrowind/oblivion. I cam close to ditching it b/c of my utter boredom, but I stuck it out and Im happy. Oblivion otoh, I had to retire after 10hrs...

Grrrr....

Now thats out of the way, I think most people want to be able to zoom in on the large map. Right now, the large map is pretty much useless.

So is there any way to get rid of scars?

I'm thinking of putting some augments on my weapons but it says they make you prone to scarring and such... Is it worth it?

Did anyone else run into this plot bug?

If you invest with the crazy thesaurus-camera guy in Westcliff when you return from the spire he has stopped talking like an idiot and left the photography business and totally reformed Westcliff and then moves on to other stuff after paying your money back. But if you then go and get Revan, after you deliver his seal to the tomb and age (or not) for him the guy is back and talking like an idiot again and Revan shoots him.
Doesn't make any sense, he stopped and moved away, how'd he come to take Revan's picture. Just seemed like a big plot hole

There is no way to remove scars. And I believe you can only get them buy "dieing." Regardless of an augment. Unless there is some cursed augment I don't know about?

I've run into the game ending bug when Talking To The Abbot in Oakfield. I guess I left the room before he finished talking and now the game is dead. I can't friggin believe this. I was having SO much fun.

The Abbot is standing inside the temple across from two other monks facing him. I can't interact with him at all. I can look at his stats and highlight him, but there is nothing else. The quests will not activate. I can do nothing.

This sucks so bad. I guess I'll just put it on the bottom of the pile of games until a fix is released. I hope it doesn't take long and thanks for the warning, Lionhead!

At first I was surprised there was no armor, but then I remembered this is set during "Colonial" times, not "Medieval".

I mean, if I choose
Many or One, will I not get my dog back? If I can't have my dog... what good is it? I need to know! Do I not get my dog back?

Edit: great review, finishing up dead space before i jump in, would you say this review was pretty spot on?

Somewhat. It's comments on the graphics I thought were way off. Sure, night time can sometimes look drab, but really there are some parts of the game that stunned me. Oakfield (and many other areas) during summer are breathtaking.

The social NPC aspects are key to really getting into Fable 2. If you don't really care how your character is viewed, or for getting and caring for your family and your dog, then the game is simply an above average western action-rpg. If you get into it and take to the systems then the game is one of a kind.

really? what weapon?

Haven't gotten a perfect score, to busy to go back and get one. :D It's the previous record holders weapon, some really good cleaver or something, IIRC. Someone around here has gotten it and can clarify.

Yeah it wouldn't make any sense to have armor when enemies are packing firearms. Gears notwithstanding.

And it's not like you every actually feel you need it in combat. You're pretty fucking tough, and clothes give enough customization.

Needs of the many, few or one?

You don't get your dog back. I couldn't imagine continuing playing without Vincent my dog. So I chose love.

Heh, i think its even called the Cursed Warrior Augment.. Ah well, won't hurt to try it.

Love it is.

ENDGAME SPOILER DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED:
Damn... if I had known the final "battle" was so easy, I would have let him finish his monologue first. I mean I feel like Mr. Incredible interupting Syndrome's "How I plan to take over" speech. Cliché. :lol

Anyone else feel cheated? I mean there was no battle! He was in the middle of a sentence and I hit him with my sword. He fell. And died. From one accidental hit. I mean Fable 1 had a real battle. This one was actually easier than WindWaker's ending.

So is there a list of all the bugs? My "bug" isn't listed on the gamefaqs list of bugs and it pisses me off. Just seems like I can't ever talk to the Abbot again, and the game thinks I'm on the next part of the quest even though he told me to go get more renown. Well I spent over two hours tonight showing my trophy off and giving gold to the bard, but I'll still at unkown in the region, even though I'm gaining tons of renown. Can't even talk to him, he is just purple. Makes me even more angry since I already moved my large fortune over from the pub games (including all the items I had unlocked) and I don't feel like restarting over from fresh in that game if I do have to start over from scratch.

Just beat the game, I "cheated" to get all three end achievements but in the end I chose
love, I wanted my damn dog back. Screw the thousands of lives that were lost.

Great game, I really hope they progress the story a little more with dlc.

Also, are there any new side quests other then the fairfax castle one?

I was gonna do that. But I think I might actually play through two more times and do it normally. Just to play as different things. Maybe I'll be evil this time.

But this first playthrough will be my main one. At least until I own everything.

I've gotten so obsessed with making my character look Noble/5 starish/etc., but Bowerstone and Oakfield's clothes markets aren't cutting it. Will I unlock a good clothes store soon? Can anyone tell me about a place that sells 4 star+ clothing?

If you would have waited
Reaver would have shot him

Actually, if you try and let him finish Reaver kills him him and says "oh, did you want to kill him?"

Edit: Dammit Spud! :D

Well, I still think they should add some sets of clothes similar to the ranger sets (not totally armor, but still has sections made of metal). If not that, then just more clothes period. Free DLC clothes packs would be nice.

Has anyone here been able to get The Duelist and The Sharpshooter achievements? I've been having trouble getting either of them. Sharpshooter in particular, because it LOOKS like I'm hitting three guys but it just won't count for some reason.

Bloodstone (sp? Pirate place) has a tailor too. But can't remember if it is 4 star+. Would also like to know if there are more tailors.

Whats up with that statue facing the ocean on the way to Oakfield from Bowerstone? The one that says "Beware of Ghost"?

A ghost haunts that area and is the subject of a quest where you track down his still alive former lover

As usual with these games, going the good route. However for no apparent good reason, i decided to snap. Went around oakfield and absolutely slaughtered the whole town (cept the kids, dammit). Then walked to Bowerstone and did the same thing, and murdered alex when she tried to divorce me.

Can anyone actually stop this rampage? The guards can't touch me.
