Official Fable II Thread

f all the haters... the ending to this game was wonderful and different...

I agree with you.
The fight against the giant shard was the climax. I don't think it would have made any sense to have a fight against Lucien. At no point in the story does he have anything other then a lot of money and ambition. It would have ruined the story to have him an actual boss fight with him flying around and shitting lightning out at you. Instead they have you kill him the same way he killed your sister and tried to kill you

finally someone who friggen gets it... people are so locked in the typical gaming conventions that they missed this circle.

To be fair, plenty of people get it, but this thread is 130 pages long, most of us lost the will to argue back on page 50.

It's simple really, the alternative to the non-fight is the fight that makes no sense (aka Bioshock end boss). Fable 2s approach is much better.

Dont know if Sam still reads this thread, but can we expect that big announcement today?

While I was playing I kept thinking that there was something about this game that was making it less "charming" then I found the first game to be. It's been bothering me for a while but I think I've finally realized what it is. The lack of the West Country accents. I would pay for dlc that just brought back those hilarious English hillbilly voices.

I dunno why everyone is saying what they did at the end. I saved before the final boss and then moved the save to a memory card, now I can continue the game and experience it 3 different ways. so far I went with the money option so I could get the 2.5 mil property achievement.

Um, there are still those accents in the game. I didnt notice any difference between this and the first.

Really? I didn't notice them to the same extent as in the first game. I want every fucking person to sound like an English Hillbilly or the trader from the beginning of the first game.

There were a lot more 'Black Country' accents for the everyday folk out there in the game this time, it felt like I was wondering around Dudley town centre at times!
It's also great for us Midlands locals as on XBL we sound just like an NPC :lol

Also Stephen Fry as Reaver was frankly an inspired choice. Bung his name into You Tube to see how fantastic this guy is. :D

I have over 3 mil in real estate, with cash to spare with the left option ending! I've been giving 100k to new players to get them started.

Is there a trick to moving the save? I have mine on the HD and it will not let me copy it to the memory card. It keeps giving me the "this file cannot be copied" error message.

I want so much more man, i want to travel to Samarkand, come on and announce some DLC!

I'll buy anything just announce it!

Well I'm fucked. I started up my game today and got a disc read error in the game, unfortunately just at the time I got a loading/saving message. I restart, but the game freezes at the loading screen. So long save, goddamn it.

With my DRE number ever increasing, I shouldn't have started this game before NXE anyway, got about 5 during Gears too. This sucks, I'll probably have to start all over again.

edit: installed the NXE leak and it just gives me a black screen after loading my save. yay!

I've spent some time playing it, but am I wrong or is the Bowerstone marketplace blacksmith bugged or something?

I can never find him, appointing a waypoint just takes me to the house, but there's noone there.

Sorry, Peter. Mirror's Edge, Valkyria Chronicles, and Prince of Persia mean that I can't yet come in for Fable 2. Goddamn - I want to play it. Sounds like you succeeded.

Postage Stamp Project sounds interesting, though. One need hardly say - tell us more...

The big announcement got delayed a few days, according to the Fable 2 Dev Blog (http://community.lionhead.com/blogs/fable_2_development/default.aspx):
The big bods over in Redmond decided that, this week wasn't the time to tell you what that announcement is we have ready here in Guildford. However, there is some G o o d [Good] news. To celebrate the launch of the New Xbox Experience, we've created an all-new Fable II theme for your dashboard. Go show your Fable pride!

For those of you who are waiting for the "big one" - stay tuned, Microsoft assures me that we can announce it on Monday 24th. If not, I will fly over there and slam my fist on a desk. Like, really hard!

At least it's only delayed till Monday, I had a bit of a scare thinking this was gunna be like Bungie's new game announcement all over again.

dont wait! i just started with fable 2 a few days ago cause i wanted to finish dead space first.
a really wonderful game... best game i played for a long time.

I hope its something new quest and co-op related.

Also how do you shoot that gargoyle in the guild cave? Its like on the ceiling of the cave but I cant hit it...even when aiming.

Whoever is in charge pf PR for Microsoft needs to relax, go home and take a fire bath. Quit using the choke chain on your studios and fucking up their interactions with their respective communities. Let them know up front (weeks before) when they're allowed to say something. Stop calling stuff back at the last moment. Thank the devs for being more leak-resistant than anyone in house. =D

What a horrible glitchy game. I just got lighting powers and when i was crossing the bridge the main character jumped off into a glitch and i was stuck there then i tried to quit the game but damn it, it saved!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I have to play the horrible intro again. WTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just finished it. The beginning was so exhilarating with the litany of options before you. It was like I was a kid in a candy store and I couldn't begin to pick out what to do next.

I spent more time working, winning over the locals, and buying houses than the main quest. I'd be at work thinking about the fake work in Fable 2 and how even that timesink in the game was so amusing.

I won't dwell on the problems with the game, ones that became all too apparent after I got towards the end, having experienced most of what the game gave me. I can't help but think this is still "not quite there," but unlike Fable 1, the gloss lasted much longer and that first week was just as amazing as any. I am kinda glad it wasn't too long, once the shine wore off and the repetition set in, I am sure I wouldn't have played much longer.

If you have an active quest, that's probably easiest. Just go into the quest and press A to Set Path and Travel. Otherwise go into Regions and you can travel to any region you've been to from in there.

"You are now famous enough to use the 'kiss my ass' expression"

This game is golden. Its rad how the town just starts gravitating to you.

I just played this with the gf. Man co-op sucks lol. Camera angles are horrible. Did anyone play test this lol? Seriously though great fucking game regardless. It's like the best brawler of all time. I mean that in a good way.

Yeah the camera in same box co-op blows. There's no way to manipulate it. :\

Just beat the main quest.

I'm rich bitch. Or was, until I bought Castle Fairfax. My butler tried to quit! Instead, I "retired" him. Gawd I love this game.

The local economies are devastated, but since I'm going for the 2.5m gold achievement, it's time to lower some rents and build it up a bit.
I have no idea what happened at the end, and didn't even know I was AT the end. But it was fun. And I've still got lots to do. :D

Anyone? I can hit every other one no matter how far away, but this one just wont break.

Move backwards a bit?

For ones like that, I use a blunderbuss. The spread of the shot is much wider and hits stuff just outside the crosshair.

I have a couple of questions.

- wasn't it possible to get plastic surgery in this game?
I'm bald after what happened at the Spire
and I want to look different. I've now advanced up until Bloodstone.
- I'm disappointed with the clothing choices in the game. I have this white will user robe on now, but I'd like stores to offer way more 5 star stuff. I've never been satisfied with my outfit :p
- Is there someone who'd want to help me get the perfect expression and Dollcatcher achievements in co-op? If possible also completionist? I read that you have to buy Pub Games to get your final dog trick, which counts towards that, lame.

The sidequests in this game are sometimes more fun than the main quest! Love Hurts, T.O.B.Y and Treasure Island were awesome quests.

Just go to a stylist to get your hair back.

Same. You can dye them at least.

My two cents about the ending, I just finished the game.

I absolutely loved the ending. I thought it was cool that it brought back an element that started the entire game (the music box), and I absolutely loved the fact that you didn't kill the end boss. I think I seat there for a good few seconds saying to myself, "wtf, did that really just happen? Is this real?" It was out of left field and funny, I loved it. Small golf clap for Peter for going left when everyone screams right.

Also, I really loved the dream sequence with your sister at the end. It was again not something I was expecting, and the way they handled your sister chasing after you was great. This dream sequence could have came off cheesy, but I thought it was very effective.

Overall, I really enjoyed the game. It's probably my game of the year. I just wished the game was more like the ending and the starting of the game. I thought those parts were very effective at giving you choices and forcing you down certain paths you don't want to go even though they're the "right" paths. Plus, those parts were just good story telling.

989MB???

The LE stuff is in the chest in the Guild right next to the teleporter.

apparently the LE stuff is in the multi language package that MS has on the Marketplace, I got the info from RedFlag deals.... anyone know ?

So I finally got round to installing this and continuing my quest, and I'm seriously pissed off with this game.

On my way to meet Reaver, it took me about 30 fucking minutes to kill that damn Troll. Then when I get there, I need another 10,000 renown. So I go to my quests, and pick a quest called Love Hurts, in Bowerstone Cemetery, worth 8500 renown. So I get to the Cemetery, and get to the point where the breadcrumb trail leads, and there's just 3 NPCs standing there, glitched. I can't fucking believe it, so I exit the area and go back in, when I get back there, there's still two NPCs glitched, so I hold L, and the third one is now floating in mid-air!!! WHAT THE FUCK?!

just picked up this game, a few hours in, mostly dicking around not following the main quest TOO much. So far im liking it. A few questions though: When i buy a house or property, is there any way to set it on my map so i can have my bread crumb trail lead to it? And as early on as i am, are the places to buy weapons/clothes supposed to be this limited? So far i only see one place that sells weapons and am still using the stock crossbow/sword you get in the beginning.

Yeah thanks. For some reason I always passed by the stylists and didn't find them until very late in the game. Both of them were pretty tucked away in the town, they should've made them more visible. At least you get some customization possibilites. Not enough though.

I finished the game today and I'll post some sort of review later since I feel there's a LOT to be said about this game. In short I pretty much had a love/hate reliationship with it.

Gotta say that some of the sidequests are a lot better than the main quest! I'd advise everyone to do most of them, since they're pretty fun and lead you to dungeons that even have small puzzles in them! Treasure Island, Love Hurts and T.O.B.Y are probably my favorite quests in the game.

There are walking weapons/clothes dealers roaming around in certain areas, and as you open up new towns there will be more blacksmiths\tailors.

Hi, I need help concerning the LE DLC...

I'm Canadian and I heard that the English language pack gave you the DLC content. I also downloaded the bonus content with the code sent by Microsoft. I got to the chamber of fate, saved, redeemed the code (I was playing using the English language pack BTW), and opened the chest there. There was a chicken suit that I got playing a flash game online, but no DLC content...

Now, when I open the chest, it says "go to fable2.com"...what's up with that? Where's the DLC content..?

Has there been any sort of ETA given on a general patch/title update? I was thinking about starting this up tomorrow, but I'm still seeing a TON of horror stories about game breaking glitches, and it's happened to several people I know in real life, so I'm thinking maybe it's just best to wait at this point.

I've just moved on to a different game waiting for a patch. Should have came out the week after the game came out, but I don't know if they will ever patch this thing now.

Daravon, I had absolutely zero glitches with anything other than graphics. But YMMV.

Microsoft certification is most likely getting in the way.

They're working on a patch. There's absolutely no fucking way they could put a patch out in only a week with the way things work on 360.

Chill, man. I know the bugs suck, but shit happens.
