I'd say that my favorite Beck albums are Mellow Gold and Sea Change in that order. Not that I've heard them all extensively, just sayin'. Guy puts on a killer live set, but the stuff like Odelay gets on my nerves after a while on record. Also, the new Decemberists record is ace, as is everything else they've done. But for me, coming after The Tain pretty much made it a disappointment. And I think that everything that isn't like The Tain will be somewhat disappointing to me. But Colin Meloy is still a fabulous songwriter, and they do lots of lovely lovely music. Also, fantastic live band.
