Why is Trasher positioned as the victim here?

Oh no, my buddies told me I'm getting screwed in a deal that I PROPOSED AND ACCEPTED so I better act like I don't know how trades (and agreements in general) work to get out of this mess I've created.

I will leave this to the powers that be.

Well it was common sense to me that the final say on the trade would actually be accepting it in the fucking game. Of course I was first interested to see if it would get approved in the trade council before making my final decision.

I don't think we are in the business of forcing some dude to go thru with a trade if he had a change of heart. We do a bunch already - albeit in vain, sometimes - to try and keep the spirit of the league fun.

Deal isn't done till its done in game.

You guys are confused. The Shadow Council isn't there to approve trades, they're our own personal trade consultants. Just agree on any trade with any1 for one of their quotes with no commitment!

I agree it really no big deal, but this shit can't fly in the offseason. Too many scenarios where a guy could get fucked cause he thought his trade was going though and didn't need that FA or something. And if it won't fly then, why let it fly now? Idk it just smells of trouble!

I imagine you're the only owner that ever assumed the trade council approval was an initial step in negotiations.

I could see this MAYBE if rinse made the offer, but come on, you just wasted a bunch of his time to let your boy be fickle.

This just doesn't make sense to me.

Tell me that didn't just happen again.

4th quarters against cola are like ticking time bombs.

No shit. I don't get it. It's seriously not me disconnecting, even though this is like the 3rd time it's happened. I'll put myself on auto pilot and you can play against the CPU.

change "some dude" to "my friend Trasher" and it makes a little more sense at least.

Just because the council of Elrond voted yes (has anything been vetoed this year at all?) doesn't handcuff a deal to being done. If people get cold feet dealing with Trasher in the future that's on him.

But I know you guys haven't had anything to bitch incessantly about for a week - so by all means, carry on.

probably just dcx' joke trade

don't shrug this off as bitching. If we were all friends in person, and trash and rinse shook on it, would you still defer to it not being final until accepted in game?

Someone brought up this being an issue in the offseason, especially during FA bidding. It's crap.

It's stupid. If the game didn't exist, the trade would've been processed. Both parties agreed to it and the commissioner (the council in this case) approved it.

You don't see outside GM's in real life telling other teams how to run their team, even if the trade is horrible. That's what the commissioner/council is for.

Also an old rule from Madden 10/11/12 was that you couldn't sign a guy in FA and trade him in the same year, during the league manager salad days!

pretty sure that was abandoned in 12, someone raised a stink about that and fmt called it an old rule that wasn't brought over to 12.

I filled FMT in on all the sordid details. I actually contacted Luke about it a few days ago because I thought he had a vote and wanted to corroborate with him about it. IMO it's a bad deal, but if you guys voted yes I am sure you all scrutinized it thoroughly.

This is fun.

To me, you should probably accept the terms of your trade as final when you say "I accept". From a commissioner stand point its probably hard to hold someones feet to the fire and make them accept so I see Lukes argument as valid.

However, much like the injury issue, trasher should just man up and accept. Its not a league rule but its kind of a bro rule. You put your word in it so just do it. Done deal.

Sanjuro, I can play after 6:30, so whatever works for you.

As for trades, I pretty much vote yes to just about any trade at this point.

Sounds good. I might head to a late class, my availability then would be around 10PM. Not sure if I will be going though.

Okay then.

All bullshit aside, the man thing to do would be for Trasher to keep his word and accept the trade. But we know that ain't happening.

Why the hell would you tell me you're going to ask for council approval and then not actually go through with it, and then just keep quiet hoping I forget about the trade?

Just bad form all around.

It took the guy 15 days after we agreed to the deal to admit that he wanted to back out of the trade.

And this is okay, awesome.

I feel for you Rinse. I know how hard it is to get a trade together and I'd be mad too if anyone backed out. Especially after coming to an agreement on the terms of the trade and agreeing to send it to the trade council.

Yeah, Fitz had a couple homes only for him to come to NE and have shitty players cry about him. He could have vanished in Miami!

You were taking Trasher to the cleaners to be honest, I'm glad it fell through.

I just give everyone the ok when they ask for approval because I don't want this shadow council talk bullshit. Say yes to everyone and then you don't have to hear about it.

Trasher was the one to set up the deal though. I feel that one should overlook the trade multiple times before deciding to send it to the council, that way it avoids things like this. I agree with CB that you can't "force" the guy to accept the trade, but in the end, the trade was pretty much agreed/approved/accepted 100%. Now, since the deal wasn't finished through xbox, Trasher can still change his mind on Rinse, who's moving forward with his new additions.

After reading this, I kind of think trades should be completed in-game before they are submitted to the trade council. It seems like most trades are gonna be approved, so we could just reverse the ones that are denied.

It kind of sucks for Rinse that Trasher backed out of the deal because somene(s) on the shadow council told him he was getting screwed. At least, I assume that's what happenened, since I don't think the trade details were posted in the thread.
