Eh that sentence is grammatically confusing. I only put in the scout points to get letter grades. Once I saw those I didn't put in any more points since all the QBs in this draft are slow pocket passers.

I'll grant that the Wildcat was essentially a gimmick, but that's because there were only really two outcomes. Either the RB kept it for a dive, or he handed it off to the motion guy or a sweep.
The big difference with the read option is that you're keeping the ball in the hands of guys who can throw it. So instead of Wildcat where you have Mark Sanchez getting punked by a corner at the line of scrimmage you have 11 on 11 football again.

It's actually fairly simple to stop, and I'm surprised teams haven't done it already. Probably scared of being penalized.
Send your linebackers in after the QB and blast him, whether he has the ball or not. No team is going to want to see their starting QB take unnecessary hits. Defenders could argue the QB is not defenseless either since they aren't sure if he has the ball.
