Wow, that was a crazy game. I thought it was over too early and almost choked. gg Gunstar :lol

edit: Here's what happened:

I somehow kept him out of the endzone all game even though he was in the redzone 5 times and got some lucky tds to take the lead. So I''m up 7 with a minute left and I kneel 3 times even though I could have run and got in FG range. Just dumb lol

He had 3 tos and used them all so he got it back with 39 secs. I play prevent and he somehow bombs one inside my 10 with like 10 seconds left and the clock running. He was hurrying up and I got a lucky pick 6 in the endzone as time expired

It was a crazy game, but that lag was killing my screen game. :( I haven't had any lag since the first 2 Weeks the game was released. Were you downloading anything on your PC?

Fifty, the rushing/recieving stat is broken. The touchdown side of the 2 is only showing running backs.

It's a work in progress. I can't seem to figure out a way to have it do exactly what I want (add rushing and recieving stats, but not exclude a player from the list if he has 0 in one of the categories) Right now it's adding "Recieving Touchdowns" to "Rushing Touchdowns". It's not putting players on the list that don't have any rushing TDs. Originally I had it the other way around, so the problem was RBs were left off the list that had no recieving TDs.

There should be a stat for # of onside kicks attempted and # of successful onside kicks.

I made 2 successfull attempts in the game with LJ and I want credit for them damn it!!!

edit: Truelize, send me an AIM when you want to play

rules updates! 2 new rules:

1. no backwards laterals
2. don't run the score up (although this isn't new) or you will get a loss.

So you did cheat in our game last year... hmm. :)

Speaking of laterals, does anyone actually do them on purpose? I don't even know how to do one, although I did accidentally lateral once or twice last year. I'm sure our league folks can exercise their judgment in figuring out whether it's being done intentionally, though...

remember when you destroyed me with the falcons? it was like 28-3 at half, then i conceded!

That was one game and you quit in the third. That would have been only my third win ever with Madden 08 and it would have looked great on my stats graph. But nope, you couldn't be a man and see it through to the end. :)

um, i conceded, not quit. you still got the win. stop being a baby about it ;)

if you didn't properly go to end game and exit back to the lobby then EA won't record it.

not my problem they can't get it right! you had your chance for revenge in our late matchup last season :D

By that time all my luck had run out. Sucks that I wasted it all on a preseason game against you. :(

Hmmm the auto loss poll is tied 5-5. Imho before we start dishing out auto losses there should be some determining of exactly what constitutes running up the score. What if I run the ball up 40 and have a wide open lane to the endzone? Is scoring it running up the score? People seem slit on interceptions and fumble returns too. I think there are plenty of obvious situations, like passing in the 4th up big or returning a pick with like 10 seconds left but there are also some iffy situations.

it's not by score. read the rules as i posted them. if you recover a fumble in the endzone, if you are just trying to run the ball to run down the clock and get into the endzone, fine. if you are passing when you're up 35 points in the 4th quarter? come on now.

I would love to but as of earlier tonight, it was still locked.

FMT/Fifty,

Any chance of opening up Week 3 to make it easier for the league to get their games in with Thanksgiving coming up?

R0rs,

I haven't seen you around since our game. Did I piss you off or something? I hope not because I made a concerted effort to run out the clock at the end of the game by not running the Champ pick in and ending the game on your 3 yd line.

Truelize, that was a good game.....the lag was mother fucking horrific. Sometimes I would be pressing A to hike the ball and it would lag so bad that it would hike the ball and throw to the A reciever almost all in one motion.

It was a back and forth game that was capped by a Brody Croyle to Duane Bowe 30 yd TD pass to take the lead with 0:22 left in the game!!

yeah that was a gg.

Game started pretty bad for me. 2 fumbles, 1 returned for a TD. And then at the end of the second I run a counter and LT gets tackles inches from a TD and I had no timeouts left. I don't know if you are forced to waste one on an injury or not but I thought I had one left. Oh well. So LT lays there looking at the goalline and I go into half down 17-7. I would have had more time on the clock but they reviewed a fumble by me and overturned it giving me the ball back with 15 seconds left on the clock. Is the clock supposed to run during that kinda of stuff? If the clock was stopped after the turnover wouldn't it stay stopped to get the offense back onto the field due to overturning the fumble?

I receive the ball at the start of the 3rd and run the ball 80 yards for a TD on my second play. Not a bad way to get things going. I continued to shut down the Chiefs and got a couple of quick scores and was right back in the game.

1:28 left in the 3rd, Chiefs score and put me down 3. K all I need is a FG in the 4th and I'm tied and forcing OT. For me that is decent enough. First possession of the quarter doesn't give me anything. I punt and then stop the Chiefs and get the ball back with less than 3 minutes left. I work the ball down the field, get shut down on 1st and 2nd down then hit Gates for a one handed grab TD with 1:41 left. NICE. Now I'm up 4 and he's only got a minute and a half.

I do my best to go into prevent mode but I have never used a 3-4 and I couldn't find anything I was comfortable with on defense against the constant pass. I would stop him and then on 3rd or 4th he would just barely get a 1st down, it was killing me emotionally. Talk about mentally draining. And then with 21 seconds left he lobs a ball into coverage in the end zone and Bowe brings it down for the game winner. I kick over my big cup of Diet Pepsi and wind up running to the laundry room for some towels to clean up my carpet quick while he kicks his extra point. :p

I get the ball back with 20 seconds left and fight lag to try and find a couple of passing routes that might give me some love. Nothing happens. I run outta time and take the loss.

I know this is no where near as exciting as some of the other breakdowns others have written but for me this was a huge game. If I would have had a timeout at the end of the half then maybe I would have won. If LT wouldn't have fumbled twice early maybe I would have won. I'm not even used to having a chance so I'm excited to have anything positive to say.

I might get that 3rd win in Madden 08 that I seek. Then all my goals will be accomplished. :D

A lot of games remaining..Maybe we made the week 2 deadline too short after having such a long week 1. That and this fell on the weekend which is usually less than ideal for games being played. 7 games left, but really only 5 remain due to my 360 and Bluemax's.

edit: Ok, 4..I see Wellie and Chris playing.

GG Chris. I will attribute this loss to extreme apathy. Good win.

My enthusiasm for the league was shot to pieces with the quick turn around, I will admit. Judging by the number of games left unplayed, I assume I am not the only one.

I think the enthusiasm is as high as ever, there are just numerous dead 360 consoles and a major holiday coming up.

AB, you around? You said 1-2 hours at the most so I waited up but it's going on 3 hours. Tonight is probably our best shot to get the game in until sometime a week from now.

GG man. I know you would've killed me if you were the Giants, and I'm lucky to have even won this game, but hey a win is a win. Also, I can't believe I just dove on that last INT return, because I could have possibly taken it to the house, but I was so concerned I would fumble it that I just dove to the ground. Your apathy is duly noted (and appreciated)!

Now move me up in the power rankings FMT, you bastard! (referring to the comment you left me in the current power rankings)

I guess it's just me then.

One thing is for certain though, it felt like I was playing Madden 2004 and the Falcons were a power team again. Felt like I could never bring any falcon ball carrier on first contact.

Well somehow I was able to have a shutdown D for the majority of the game. I was basically just guarding against the run the whole game (except for 3rd and longs, of course) and had some lucky INT's that really helped out.

The Falcons really aren't that bad (in Madden anyways).

-Can anyone tell me how to add Morten Andersen to my roster? I went back a few pages and read Rorschach's and Fifty's instructions how to add a player, but it's not working for me as he's not on the list of players... He was 2 for 2, long of 32 yds.

heh, riiiiiiiight. Tally up another 10 receptions to Souldja. Last seasons reception king, J Walker had 91 for the year. I only need 59 to tie that, in 13 games :p

Guy's, I'm going to throw it to Winslow. Or Edwards.

To add to Wellie's point, it certainly isn't as fun taking the reins of a team you have no emotional attachment to. That being said, I am enjoying putting up a ton of points from my first two games. Carolina's defense isn't as good as the one Dallas has, so I'm going to try and put up touchdowns everytime I touch the ball.

BTW for all my future opponents....if you are blowing me out, feel free to keep on playing your game. Since we will be stuck together playing through a blow out game, we can at least keep it entertaining by playing normally. I am of the minority that feels disrespected when someone does not give me their best game 100% of the time...that ideology comes from the fact I'm such a fierce competitor in anything I do. Play hard, or don't play at all!:D

Yo Malley, how does Tuesday work for our Week 3 game?

Luke, I know you've got company this week. For once my schedule is pretty flexible, so if you have any idea when you might be available, let me know and I'll try to work it out...

That might be a valid point..But I'm sorry to hear that there's "Extreme apathy" from Wellie, who has always been one of our most passionate players. If we had postponed the league for weeks or however long he wanted I feel like we would have lost more interest than we gained from doing that, considering all the people who were eager to jump back in the saddle. That's how we've always been doing it I think.

I will tell you that they aren't that great. I use them in the rookie league and boy it takes alot more to win a game then it did winning games with the Browns ( before Lonestar got the new and upgraded Browns )

I guess the challenge for you is to compete. Make the playoffs, one game at a time. I'm sure alot of people are either loving, or hating their new teams, one thing is for sure, it makes for a more diverse and interesting league. Parody for the win.

I like this slinging and a slanging team I've got. I feel like I can actually generate points on offense!
