im back from my spiritual journey. here are some interesting things of note!

1. ramirez is back! thanks for toughing it out old friend, you will be rewarded with the steelers in madden 2009 season 12!

2. rules changes are upcoming.... actually just 1, but potentially 2. one of them is putting your #1 in the slot. i tried to let it slide after the vote, but i still get the same complaints. shawn, or anyone else, if this alters your ability to play and enjoy your league games let me know and we can find a replacement or figure something out. i don't want anyone leaving but you have to do what you have to do.


lets get our games played fellas! what's the holdup? i know gunstars 360 died. can someone fill in for a couple games?

we're almost to the end.... finish strong, shaun hill style!

what time do you think you will be around. I am usually home around 5:30 pst, so we can get our game in then if that works for you.

Does the new rule change affect the WR swap packages that just switch the #1 and #2 receivers but does not put either in the slot?

I'm also curious about this too. Does this only affect the package swapping? I assume default layout is ok for everything.

I'll refrain from making any rash assertions before I actually read the new set of rules. The new rules you write are going to have to be very specific as there are many default packages that have #1 recievers in the slot (e.g. Twin Wr, Weak Twin WR, Singleback Trips, Shotgun Trips, etc).

This season has been a dissapointment for me for a multitude of reasons. People aren't playing their games, people are making others players wait weeks before games are played, and almost everyone hates the fact we don't have our default teams. I'm not trying to affect league morale, but that's my 100% honest assessment of why the apathy is palpable. Hopefully people can renew their commitment to each other to make sacrifices to get the games played.

The only reasons I've hung in there this season is due to the fact that I don't like to voluntarily quit at anything and I want to maintain my stranglehold on the Cowboys as the default owner....

Shawn (or CJ if you get a copy of the game), can you play our game tomorrow night around 9pm EST? I've been sick all day, and I don't think I could sit up long enough to play a game tonight.

Perhaps we can play Friday since tonight is not a possibility....

I will have to say I just played a great game with dammitmatt

1st half I played just like the chiefs do in real life 17-0 with a bunch of 3 and outs :(

2nd half I clawed my way to my 49, had a 4th and 3 and took a chance to convert. LJ caught a pass in the flats, trucked the shit out of Chump Bailey (I think), and ran 51 yards for the TD. Stopped him on his next drive, he punts, my Chiefs drive to the redzone and Tony G catches a pass for 6. Now its 17-14 with about 4:30 left in the 4th quarter. With a gift from god clipping call I push him to 3 and out and he has to punt to me. I have the ball in Denver territory and ***** says NO you are not coming back and picks one from the true noodlearm (Huard).......SHIT.......I hold him to just a field goal. It's now 14-20 and I have the ball with a little over 2 minutes left. Start driving down the field and AGAIN ***** says FUCK YOU with another INT. I am out of timeouts and the game is over.

L.ynch is filtered due to the E.idos/C.net/Gerstmann fiasco (K.ane & L.ynch). It was indeed a great game. You had all of the momentum in the second half as I couldn't stop LJ in the flats and I couldn't sustain a drive. Thank God that L.ynch bailed me out, especially when Cutler threw an INT RIGHT AFTER I had picked you off for the first time. I blame inconsistent Jay for that one, though, because Walker had a step and position! I really felt lucky to get away with a win.

As for my second game with Ramirez, let me just say that sometimes Madden hates Eli and LOVES Champ. Is it too late to redo the week 6 player of the week? :)

Also, what's up with everyone not having fun this time around?!? I finally have a good defense so I'm having more fun than ever.

I don't know what's up with the mood right now. I have every reason to be a negative nancy about this season (2-4) but I am still having fun every game I play. Except, of course, for the shutout that was dealt to me by of all teams the Dolphins!!

There's a lot of people out there with only 4 or 5 games played. I know some of it is beyond your control due to your opponents' situations, but everyone please don't forget that you made a commitment to this league and try to make yourself available for an hour when your opponents are available. I hate to see this league slowing down, and it's not even Christmas, yet!

And True, you need to learn to convince your daughter that she's controlling the other team so you'll catch up with your games!

Yea when does this current week (8) advance? Theres 7 games unplayed, 5 from week 7, and 4 from week 6. Crazy.

Oh, man...I played my first game as soon as the week advanced. Now, I have a bye week and my next opponent will probably dodge me for weeks. And before my last game, I hadn't really played. It's gotten so bad, that I've resorted to playing "Play Now" games vs the CPU. They aren't even Franchise games! :'''(

Gonna be super rusty for LJ.

Sickboy, as soon as Week 9 opens, let's try and get it in as soon as possible if you're available. I'm out of town Sunday afternoon until Wednesday night for business, then I'm out of town again from Saturday (the 22nd) until January 1st.

Really sorry folks... I've been trying to sleep off a really nasty stomach bug today... god, if it isn't one thing it's another. I don't think I'm going to be able to sit in one place for long enough (or have the necessary concentration) to play a game of Madden. In fact, I've got a small handful of things to do online, plus a call to work to tell them I'm dying and then it's back to bed for me...

On the flipside, I'll post if I start feeling any better.... I've got enough bloody games to play that I'm sure someone will be available to play if I somehow pull out of this later this evening.

NCAA Football 08 got a patch today, and they extended the defensive play selection clock during online games.

What about Madden!

EDIT2: I'm going to have to withdraw that offer... 1 - starting to feel iffy (I'm up and active for the first time today)... 2 - I'm also probably toast if my wife gets back and I'm in the middle of a game.

EDIT: If you are around, just a word of advance warning.. I need about 2 min to fix my roster pre-game.

It will at least replace your IR players, and move guys like RBush into kick return roles when they clearly are the best available. Two minutes sounds like a major overhaul!
