Official Metal Gear Solid 4 TGS Thread

It just seems prety ridiculous that people doubted Kojima would pull through - it's not like he's caught up making other games.

Well that is the Japan release date from Famitsu.

Metal Gear games always come out in the USA first.

I'm expecting November 2007 USA release, with a December 2007/February 2008 timetable for Japan.

In stills, there was no doubt.

Now, in motion...MGS4's gameplay animation will make or break the hype machine(for me). Come Friday we'll see...

Kojima also had some saddening news to report to the magazine. Konami has previously promised a 2007 release for Metal Gear Solid 4. Apparently, the release will take place, at the earliest, late in the year, as the game still has over a year's development time.
While that does suck, I hope they stick with the anniversary 7.7.07 date even if all we get is 95% complete game then have the full Integral version of it the following year.

I like this. I like this a lot. Freedom is good.

That was pretty much the case in all metal gears... You were on a sneaking mission, but, as long as the job got done, you were golden. The only thing affected was rank.

Rambo was one of my favorite ways to play Snake Eater. It gave you a lot of injuries and wounds to enjoy in the Survival Viewer.

My favorite is leaving in crossbow bolts from fight with The Fear; if you let the wound heal around them, they stay in permanently for the rest of the game.

One of my favorite things to do in previous MGS was occasionally busting out the big guns and going on a rampage. Ah, good times.

I got this info from ruliweb but apparetly Kojima doesn't want the players to feel as though they are shooting with their back against the wall in mgs4. So I am guessing we will be able to strafe and move with while aiming.
In the MGS:PO videos it looked like a player was strafing in first person aim mode while firing an xm.

That will greatly improve the game mechanics for online play. Metal Gear Solid 3: S was annoying online cause it was tedious to fire the weapon in first person mode and not be able to move.

I hope they learn the lessons from Subsistenence. Other than that online was fun.
I think the MGO system worked great until people got good enough to snap headshots at any time. Once that happened you couldn't really play as a casual.

I just want you guys to know how much I hate you for getting to look at any of the info/media about this game. I'm starving myself on purpose.

I want to know absolutely nothing when that shining day arrives that I finally get to play this game :) Bliss.
I would do this if i knew i'd have a ps3 when it came out but I am not so sure so i'll soak up everything as buy a ps3 evidence.

That's a step the series has to take even if Kojima's more about not having you do that. You're finally in a war in the game so you can't be thinking about always keeping that person you're fighting alive.

Exactly, what MGS games were you guys playing. Last time I check you can just run around and kill everyone if you wanted, it didn't matter.

That may wind up being the case, but Kojima has stated before that he wants the game to launch in all territories simultaneously, replete with all languages.

Damn The Patriots!

Well, that means its definately 2008 for Europe.

I'm sure it'll come late 2007, Konami will probably issue a deadline they did with MGS2, something tells me they'll be rushing the development of this towards the end like they did with MGS2.

Anyway, it looks AMAZING! It's a great time to be a gamer :) can't wait to see the gameplay footage, TGS rocks!

not if kojima is planning to use BD's 25gb to its fullest and include both PAL and NTSC versions on one single disc
You know, you guys keep bringing this up, but the time to localize (and get evaluated & approved by each regional ratings board and each regional arm of the platform holder) is going to be the biggest reason you probably won't see a lot text- and voice-heavy titles release near-simultaneously, IMO.

Kojima and team can take as long as they want. I want a magnum opus free of release window constraints.

I like how they're pushing the idea of giving players the option of playing it as sneaky as they like. It's always been a big part of the MGS series so I'm interested to see in what directions they take that gameplay aspect in.

well whos to say they wont be recording audio and voices for all versions, simultaneously? isnt resistance including many languages and is launching globally at once?

Perhaps. It's not impossible, just unlikely for, IMO, 3rd party titles. MGS4 is probably going to be the first massive franchise to hit the PS3...so it might be done that way. I just don't expect that most 3rd party games will do the one-package deal. It'd be cool to be wrong.

HQ scans! Thanks to duckroll.jpg

2008 release isn't that bad. More time to crank up the awesomeness.

And thanks for the new re-scans! Looks nice! Is MkII electrocuting that soldier?

I really do. I hate Sony just as much...

I don't have $600 just lying around... I don't have the money!

DAMN YOU KOJIMA

How much money do you have to spend?

2008 is fine with me, 2007 already has a load of stuff coming... plus it gives me longer to save for a PS3. And more development time can only lead to good things. Also, it can avoid the Grand Theft Auto IV and Halo 3 storm, so it doesn't get drowned out like Metal Gear Solid 3 did when it came out around the time of Halo 2 and San Andreas. :lol

I'd say it can still make next November though.
