Official Metal Gear Solid 4 TGS Thread

I never noticed alot of the things you guys are pointing out. Perhaps in an hilarious twist of irony, the young one will be Big Boss and old Snake, Solid Snake. Or maybe the other way around. Funny though, if he's younger than his two children. People seem to think BB won't be in it, but stranger things have happened in the series. He's far too integral not to be in it after the 60's saga. Perhaps that would explain why "Snake" was saluting at the Boss's grave.

It would explain why he's there. Kojima did say alot of it is no accurate to the story in the trailer (like how Snake will be "shooting" himself in a different place to where the trailer took place) so that could explain some of the indiscrepencies.

BTW, don't download that GS trailer. It's about 500mb and it's NOT HD, 480 x 270 res. Why it's so large, I have no idea.

I really like this scene

If that's being played out in real time, then it really strikes home what Kojima means with striking fear into the enemy, the psychological part

People really need to stop running with Kojima's litle joke.
When the trailer begins and the gears walk past "dead" snake, he stands up looks at the camera then his FACE changes.
It was bruised and discolored then returned to normal.
At the end of the trailer, you see him running up to the statues look around then the camera cuts to the soldiers.
Before the shot changes, you can clearly see the grey hairs sticking out from the back of the mask.
Then when the soldiers leave the camera pans up towards his face and we can hear/see his suit and mask changing looks.
We don't see him taking the mask off, and we see his hands as he lights the cig.

As far as how he is smoking through the mask well, if Sigint can make a mask that blinks but cant open it's mouth. I'm sure Otacon can make one that changes looks and can open at the mouth.

Ok, Big Boss being cloned as a young man is one thing but now you're stretching.

Really trying to speculate about whos and whats going to be in this game is pretty much futile, havent we all learned our lessons with MGS 2 Raiden by now?

Though i would not be surprised if we actually see a young snake.

All we know is that this game looks ****ing awesome, and that its going to be ****ing awesome, now we'll just have to wait, and discover the plot ourselves by PLAAAAYIIING it.

Look guys, it's more than obvious that in the way the young Snake is showed in the trailer, it is a joke - the gray hairs, the Solid Eye dissapearing, the body not octocammed, the shit not changing the face when it falls, the ciggarette in his mouth...

But Kojima prodctions never make things like this just for the trailer, I mean it's a whole new model. Remember the Raikov and the Kuwabara Kuwabara funny parts from the MGS3 trailers - they both were used in the game 1:1.

So, if we think that it's just a mask in the game just like the Raikov one in MGS3, yeah it will please the fans who want to controll the young Snake but what its purpose will be in the MGS4 story/gameplay? Because the Raikov mask was serious part of the gameplay...

The way I see it -- probably there will be part of the game in the beginning where you're controlling the young Snake? Why? Because there are many years leap between MGS2 and MGS4 which will stay unexplained and we know Hideo aims to explain everything and complete the Solid Snake and the saga story with MGS4... He can't leave those 10 years of the Solid Snake life in the dark. Also, we know Snake will travel around the world on different missions - I think they will be in different years etc and one of the latest ones will be with the Old Snake in Middle East.

You just can't think that the beginning of MGS4 is the Solid Snake saluting The Boss grave scene, because many things will be left not explained.

That's my point. I am just trying to look realistic on the things, I am not Young Snake fan or something, on the contrary - I love the Old Snake look, he's such a badass.

Awesome. Maybe my subscription to GS for TSG won't end up being a waste after all.

Thus far all I got was that double-disapointing keynote coverage (yay for video downgrade to audio downgrade to descriptive relay that idiot editors talk over) and... I'm not sure what second item I was thinking of... Or even if there was a second item. I spent too long bitterly recalling the keynote I guess.

As of this afternoon at least, Blim > IGN and GameSpot for media. Where do I subscribe?

To be fair, the eyepatch was inconsistent all throughout the trailer.

I think young Snake is just a Koj joke. However, if it is real, it seems pretty obvious to me.
Old Snake is Solid Snake, and Young Snake is Big Boss clone Mark III.

I'm not sure I follow what you're trying to say.

In the beginning of the new trailer, when Snake's playing dead, he gets up and his camouflage pattern changes back to normal (his blue/black suit). I just noticed that the dirt on his face changes along with the suit (the dirt goes away). It's a mask.

There's definately something going on with his face. It's the same mark as he had at E3

I don't know why, but I think we should take special note of how he was specifically called "Old Snake" in the trailer. Perhaps a double entendre, Big Boss could be also considered "old Snake", being the original Snake. Just my thoughts.

Yah I just caught that. I thought you were talking about the end where you see Young Snake.

Despite this trailer not being story driven its turned out to be a bigger mind f'ck than all the previous trailers for the game. I'm not sure what the hell Kojima's doing anymore.

You know, that didn't even phase me. I noticed it the first time I saw it, but for some reason I just thought it was normal that his face changed to look dead and dirty.

But why would it unless his face is part of the suit. So his face has to be covered by the suit material, such as with a mask as you stated.

Hmmmm.

I shouldn't dwell on it. Kojima is crazy so we stand no chance heheheh.

Heh, and to think that only a few months ago MGS4 was thought to be the best-looking PS3 game. I wonder what happened.
It's called a work in progress. Kojima said this footage came right out of a player test build, I have my doubts the graphics are at their best for that situation. I'm sure it'll have some heavy improvements in due course. You can see some clear placeholder textures (or what look bad enough that they really must be) in there

Dammit...did anyone notice that the MkII has octocamo, as well as snake?

It uses it directly prior to zapping that guy in the nuts.

Someone please make an animated gif of 01:46 to 01:49 in the official direct-feed trailer.
