Dr. Strangelove said:The Yankees should trade for Todd Jones and try to bring back Gabe White. That would be awesome to have that many porn staches on the same squad.

bob_arctor said:QFT. If Fasano can hit even a little, fine by me. This move will allow us to rest Jorge more too. Damon's a go for tonight as well. We need to finish this sweep, have a well-earned day off, then Wang goes on Friday (we're skipping Ponson until 8/5).
evil solrac v3.0 said:and then...? i mean, what then? we cant be as lucky as we've been. we need to go on another hot streak and keep the pressure on the bosox.
bob_arctor said:We've been playing well overall since the break save the Toronto series. I say we keep on being the "slow and steady wins the race" team that never goes on an extended streak but somehow, some way, is always right there in the standings. And anyway, you know where all this is headed:
5 game series in Boston.
As for hot streak, we can sweep tonight, then sweep Tampa and there you go.

His numbers are pretty good for a shortstop I guess, OPS is a little average but OPS doesn't matter. /joe morgan.
bob_arctor said:By this point, how can you not have faith? All the injuries, Randy pitching like crap for a long while, useless 5th starter, the A-Rod circus. We have less losses then the Mets for Chrissakes. 1/2 game out of the wildcard. Bosox see us in the rearview. This is a team of necessity built to confound everyone, even the haters.![]()
Dr. Strangelove said:Don't kid yourselves. Yes you've had a rash of injuries, but your everyday lineup still has Slappy, Calm Eyes, HGH, John Damon, and Passedballa in it. Despite having to shuffle turds in and out at the back end of the order, your lineup is still better than most MLB teams.

Strong words considering your team has been swept by Houston, Florida, and Washington, and you've lost series to plenty of crappy teams.Mrbob said:Mets proved over the last 3 days they are complete garbage.
NL should just send an extra AL team to the world series to represent the league so we have a competitive series.

Omar= GM of Year.from Dr. Dooby of mlb.scout.com Mets Boards said:A funny statistical comparison:
Maine / El Duque combined in 2006:
133.0 IP, 4.67 ERA, 129 H, 21 HR,48 BB, 126 K
Benson in 2006:
133.2 IP, 4.71 ERA, 140 H, 21 HR, 46 BB, 62 K
Maine & El Duque cost about half as much as Benson does in 2006, so I guess overall, this looks pretty good for the Mets, especially considering that Maine is 25 and under control for 5+ more years.
Every team is going to drop a series against a crap team once in a while. At least you seem to have let go of any chances the Cubs have to go anywhere this year, though.Mrbob said:And the Cubs just took two out of three in New York against the Mets, and it took the Mets 10 innings to score one run to win the game, so what does that make them? A mediocre team which is only winning because they are in a pourous division!![]()

Angelus said:So if the A.L. is that much better then what does it mean when teams like the Devil Rays put it to the Yankees and RedSox? Or when the WhiteSox loose 11 out of their last 14? Its means about the same as it does when the Cubbies almost sweep the Mets-its a long season and anyone can be beaten. Atleast keep the shit talking down till the playoffs begin.:lol

Which is better, to think your 1st place team is good or to think your 2nd worst record in NL team is good? And I NEVER ONCE mentioned Mets wining WS on this board. I know the playoffs are a different animal, but I like their shot over the other NL teams.Mrbob said:I feel sorry for the Mets fans. You think your team is good but they won't even make it out of the divisional series...
Fixed for what 75% of Cubs fans hope.Oh I gave up when DLEE went down. Thankfully it sounds like Dusty will be run out of town next year so everything is peachy!
