Not to pick on Shawn because he kicked my ass up and down, but I was reading through the rules and after playing a fill-in game with him, I would have to say that he was in danger of violating the following rules with some cheesy play:
2. Following up on the sim-league issue, please don't play *** Mike Vick ball. I'm understand some people have scrambling QB's, and that's awesome. But PLEASE don't hike the ball and start running around like a chicken with it's head cut off. If you want to run the option all game I'm cool with that. Just try to play legit.
I would say that at least 1/3, if not more, of his passes were the type where he immediately sprints out of the pocket after the snap, running around like a chicken with his head cut off while waiting for the crossing routes to open up. Yes, this play does happen in real life and no, it does not happen very often. It's very hard to defend because the receivers will get open 90% of the time and no D-lineman can hang with a fast QB like Troy Smith. Also, on these plays the passing cone doesn't come up until the very last minute, right as he's releasing the ball. We are going for a realistic league and this type of play doesn't fit in, and it's sure as hell not fun to play against.
5. DO NOT RUN UP THE SCORE! Yes we are doing rankings and that could have an effect, but be respectful. If you are winning 30-0, let that *** die.
When you're up by 30 points in the 4th quarter there is no need to be chucking the ball around like you did. Run the ball and run the clock out. That stat-padding was just not nice.
6. Vision Cone is to be on FOR ALL PASSING PLAYS! There are some exclusions: if you are throwing a QUICK screen (WR screen, HB screen), then fine. But any throw downfield, regardless of whether it is a 5 yard button hook or a 2 yard slant, turn on the passing cone. It's not fair to everyone else who uses it on every play (I even use it on quick screens, it's not THAT hard to accomplish fellas)
This is debatable due to the shitty implementation of the cone by EA, but on most plays it only flashed on for a brief second right before the pass. It's like you hike the ball, make your reads, and then hold LT while pressing the receiver's button twice, which is essentially the same as not using the cone at all. Again, it's not against the rules, but I think it's slightly against the spirit of the league, especially since most people are making such a great attempt to use the passing cone as it's meant to be used - as soon as the ball is snapped.
Again, Shawn, I'm not trying to pick on you because you are good at the game and know what you are doing. This is not sour grapes because I was just playing a fill-in. You seem like a cool guy and I enjoyed seeing your tactics and talking with you after the game. However, it was the least-enjoyable game that I've played this year due to a combination of the factors above and the east-west coast lag, and it wasn't even necessary because you STILL would've kicked my ass straight-up without the cheesy QB play.
This is my first time to play in a GAF league and I want to make sure that it's an enjoyable experience for everyone involved. I don't know if it's cool or not to bring this stuff up, and if not, I'll remove the post and move on, but I at least wanted to speak my peace.
