Week 3 is in the books, and after another dominating performance by my Bucks I am stuggling to find ways to keep my team motivated week to week. Reminding them that a copy of Madden 07 is up for grabs always gets them focused on mauling the opponent.

NEXT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111oneoneoneone!!!!!

Talk about a game of no defense. Did you guys go eat sandwiches, use the restroom, and check the mail when it came time for defense?

After the second quarter, my defensive backs stopped jumping.

They were almost always in position to make the stop, they just looked like they tripped on a damned banana peel when I pressed a button to make them jump(or if I ignored them entirely, assuming they could knock it down themselves).

Also, the game was played at approximately 7 frames per second, which puts the offense at a slight advantage.

Was up 35-10.

Lost 65-52.

Momentum aka Rubberband AI strikes again :lol I've lost about 5 games where I was up 3 or more TDs at half so I feel your pain. My guys just stop playing defense somehow.

EA calls it "momentum" :D

I'll try to see if I can get that game in, DCX.

BTW, are we going to do another vote soon? I kind of like doing that.

Gee, Shawn, you DO have one of the better teams in the game, everyone kinda figured you'd do well. Could have tried playing with a team with things called "flaws"

We picked teams well before the ranking were known in this game. I can't help the fact that my excellent coaching combined with my excellent players would have my team playing on a completely different level.

This is like like watching thhe Bulls go 72-10 or watching the 1972 Dolphins going undeafeated. We should all enjoy this moment. :D

Well, I don't know about you, but I knew going in that Texas, ND, and OSU would be hand over foot better than the other teams!

And Ted Ginn is overrated in this game. GIVE HIM MORE 99's!!!!!!!!!!!1

OSU is ridiculous. They completely dominated #6 Florida's offensive and defensive lines like it was a high school team. Also, completely unlike real life, Ginn is impossible to tackle in the game. Not only is he fast and shifty, but he breaks tackles like no WR ever should.

Anyway, look at the latest stats - Kenny Irons (AU #23 RB) for the Heisman!!!

Well, if Kenneth Darby had NEARLY as many carries, he'd have 300 more yards than Irons. 7.7 YPC 4 LIFE.

You bitches are crazy. How bout Gaines "I'm ****ing coming for you" Adams.

3 games. 14 tackles. 8 sacks. 3 tackles for loss. It's about time a defensive player won the Heisman.

PLEASE

Juwann Simpson. 3 INT's, 2 Defensive touchdowns, and 2 fumble recoveries. And some tackles and shit.

Or John Parker Wilson. 25 completions, 8 for TD's

That's a TD pass every 3 completions!

BITCHES LEAVE.

And Ted Ginn's numbers prove the point!

Ginn Jr., Ted (WR) 9 188 2 69

More than half of Smith's completions to Ginn, and over half the yards thrown to. Nevermind that other dude WR that probably is overrated as hell too.

I say, FMT vs Shawn, both use OSU. I'll take FMT 49 - Shawn 14. Any other takers?

8 sacks > 3 picks. And I can't help it if those bitch quarterbacks won't drop the ball when I lay the wood to them.

By the way, my left end has 7 sacks. Pick your poison, mother ****ers!

I already told you, the quarterbacks wouldn't fumble! :(

Adams did have one forced fumble though, so he was responsible for some points maybe? I say give it to him!

Did you control Gaines? Cause most of Simpson's stats are mine. I say Lonestar for Def player of the year. Nevermind we've only played 3 games.

Yes, I control Gaines. You are free to ask stooge, woody, or lukin about that.

P.S. Noticing now that you use bama, I hope we don't have to play each other. My girlfriend goes to Alabama and would punch me in the cock and withold sex if I won. Pretty much lose/lose for me.

Sounds like Mr. Wilson played someone who can't play defense worth a lick. I guarandamntee I will finish the league averaging 50+ points per game. Ginn is my star receiver, I will do everything I must to get him the ball as he is always my first option. Your commentary wont stop me from making him the runner up to Troy for the heisman. I can take FMT just like anyone else. LOL, you better pray FMT does not schedule me to play you. I am going to open up the entire offense when I play you. It will not be pretty!!

Well that's not exactly fair because at least 1/3 of Irons' carries came on HB Dives/Guts while trying to run the clock out in blowouts.

Also, as you said, TDs > Yards and Irons' 10 TDs through 3 games > *

Lonestar said:

4 things -

1. The Gators are NOT high-powered and that #6 ranking is a joke

2. The Gators DBs did not attempt to knock down or intercept a single pass the entire game, and the defense in general just did not tackle Ginn

3. I haven't figured out how to defend the cheesy-ass "run around in the pocket until the crossing route opens up" tactic that was employed the entire game - don't deny that this is cheesy and is nothing like how the real game of football is played - that happens maybe two or three times a game in real life

4. I really, really sucked it up without my home team, and that spread offense playbook sucks

When I get back in town, I want to have a friendly game or two with my Auburn Tigers, and maybe an OSU-OSU game to see if I really suck or if it was just a combination of a crappy team and a poorly played game!

Mine does, too. Where do you go to school? Spent a lot of time in the slums of T-Town? What about the Houndstooth?

I don't have a QB that can run around like Vick. I don't have 1 WR over 90, let alone 2 (what does Gonzo have?) I don't have much of an offensive line. And I do believe that Georgia and Auburn are quality teams, and Malley and Matrix are Sports GAF veteran's...though why Matti picked Houston...poor choice!

He did that? POOR SPORT, BAN HIM!

Also, Darby does have 2 WR TD's, to Iron's 0. But really, with Bama's OLine, goalline offense's are hard to manage. I think I failed against Houston for Jebus sake.

I go to Clemson (obviously, heh). I've only been there a few times. She visits me more than I visit her due to me being a grad student doing research and trying to write a thesis and her being an undergrad with much more free time. I was up a couple weeks ago though and she took me to the houndstooth. It was in the middle of the summer so it wasn't packed like I assume it would be on game weekends. Either way she got me a ticket to the Iron Bowl this year so I'm stoked.

I used to be at the Houndstooth every other weekend - still my favorite place in town, and it is absolutely crazy during the football season. I was there last year after the Florida game and it was just insane. As annoying as the song is, it's pretty fun to have a few hundred people crammed into a bar single Sweet Home Alabama and yelling Roll Tide Roll in unison.

Congrats on the Iron Bowl tickets, but I think it's going to be another ugly one for Bama. Fear the thumb indeed. Hit me up the next time you're in T-Town and we can get together for some beer and NCAA 2007 if the woman approves!

Hey, you never know how a season might turn out. Alabama sure has an idea. Any team is an injury or 2 away from disaster.

That's why depth is so important. I think alabama is on the right track, especially with shula, but after they got in trouble several years back which resulted in some subpar recruiting, there was just no one to fill in for Prothro and the others when they went down.

Well, the limited scholarships hurt alot, and of the 2 classes that the "Coach Who Will Not Be Named" recruited, I think the only worthwhile players were Croyle, Peprah, and Demarco Ryans. He did not recruit any OLine players that were worth anything.

This year, don't know how it'll be. Darby will be good, we've got a good Dline, and 2 maturing WR's (though not Prothro). If our LB and DB crew mature, they'll be good, and if our OLine can improve, we'll have a good season. JPW could be a good QB. I mean, he was the only bright side to last year's Iron Bowl. Singlehandingly making the final score seem not so much a blowout as the actual game really was.

Not to pick on Shawn because he kicked my ass up and down, but I was reading through the rules and after playing a fill-in game with him, I would have to say that he was in danger of violating the following rules with some cheesy play:

2. Following up on the sim-league issue, please don't play *** Mike Vick ball. I'm understand some people have scrambling QB's, and that's awesome. But PLEASE don't hike the ball and start running around like a chicken with it's head cut off. If you want to run the option all game I'm cool with that. Just try to play legit.

I would say that at least 1/3, if not more, of his passes were the type where he immediately sprints out of the pocket after the snap, running around like a chicken with his head cut off while waiting for the crossing routes to open up. Yes, this play does happen in real life and no, it does not happen very often. It's very hard to defend because the receivers will get open 90% of the time and no D-lineman can hang with a fast QB like Troy Smith. Also, on these plays the passing cone doesn't come up until the very last minute, right as he's releasing the ball. We are going for a realistic league and this type of play doesn't fit in, and it's sure as hell not fun to play against.

5. DO NOT RUN UP THE SCORE! Yes we are doing rankings and that could have an effect, but be respectful. If you are winning 30-0, let that *** die.

When you're up by 30 points in the 4th quarter there is no need to be chucking the ball around like you did. Run the ball and run the clock out. That stat-padding was just not nice.

6. Vision Cone is to be on FOR ALL PASSING PLAYS! There are some exclusions: if you are throwing a QUICK screen (WR screen, HB screen), then fine. But any throw downfield, regardless of whether it is a 5 yard button hook or a 2 yard slant, turn on the passing cone. It's not fair to everyone else who uses it on every play (I even use it on quick screens, it's not THAT hard to accomplish fellas)

This is debatable due to the shitty implementation of the cone by EA, but on most plays it only flashed on for a brief second right before the pass. It's like you hike the ball, make your reads, and then hold LT while pressing the receiver's button twice, which is essentially the same as not using the cone at all. Again, it's not against the rules, but I think it's slightly against the spirit of the league, especially since most people are making such a great attempt to use the passing cone as it's meant to be used - as soon as the ball is snapped.

Again, Shawn, I'm not trying to pick on you because you are good at the game and know what you are doing. This is not sour grapes because I was just playing a fill-in. You seem like a cool guy and I enjoyed seeing your tactics and talking with you after the game. However, it was the least-enjoyable game that I've played this year due to a combination of the factors above and the east-west coast lag, and it wasn't even necessary because you STILL would've kicked my ass straight-up without the cheesy QB play.

This is my first time to play in a GAF league and I want to make sure that it's an enjoyable experience for everyone involved. I don't know if it's cool or not to bring this stuff up, and if not, I'll remove the post and move on, but I at least wanted to speak my peace.

CB3

intangibles, motherfucker
Ill Just give a few reminders and thoughts on a few of the rules and ideas we have going on here

*Running up the score is NOT ok. if your up by that much, just let it go. Im sure i speak for everyone when i say this kind of thing is not looked well upon if it happens alot with a certain player

*Because you guys voted against the cone rule that we had (Which is way the **** beyond me why you guys did), i cant really say anything about the cone flashing for only a second before the ball is thrown. Sure, it would be better it you brang it up a little before the pass, but i cant exactly say your too much in the wrong here since its not a rule

*PLEASE watch it with the scrambling around every single play behind the pocket. Its really not fun for the person playing against you, and is not neeeded. the only reason you should be running around outside the pocket right after the ball is snapped is if there is really someone immidiatly on your ass. Keep the Vick Ball out of this league is possible

*mmmlemay, its fine to bring up these kind of things if you feel its needed. I would say it may be better to talk to FMT, DM, or Myself first before you post it, only because people can Get kinda hostile if you call them out for cheesing in the thread. i only say this because i have experience of a situation like this :)

Again, this is just speaking to everyone. If it becomes a bigger issue, then we'll deal with that when it does. Sim League people! Use your Better Judgement!

I have to agree 100% with mmlemay... I knew thats how it would be for whoever picked West Virginia and Ohio State :/ It playing a game not playing football :/ I hope this gets delt with because I've never actually seen someone Run back 20 yards run around and throw it 60 yards over the middle for a perfect pass in any real life game ever... Beh.. Regardless I wanna play some ncaa :D lets go!

If You Can't Beat 'Em, Talk Shit About 'Em
I've done a few tests with the cone and it really doesn't seem to matter. Using the cone only helps you and doesn't hurt you. We messed with it for a couple hours on friday, if you take the cone and have it facing all the way to the right or left of the screen and throw a pass over the middle, its just as accurate as if you don't use the cone at all. But if you use the cone you can put the pass right where you want it. I have yet to see having hte cone not on the receiver matter as far as general placement on a reciever. If their covered by the DB hard regardless if the cone is not on the player or you don't turn it on at all it doesn't matter it'll still be broken up, but if you have the cone on them you can place it ahead of them about 30-40% of the time and get a completion when you reguarly wouldn't have.
