Pat Williams heads to Minnesota, and Jonas Jennings moves on to San Francisco. Good god did the 49'ers overpay for Jennings. a $12 million signing bonus, are you nuts?
Hallelujah motherfuckers! We signed Jonas Jennings, finally solidifying the most important position on the offensive line. Now we can move beast-in-the-making Kwame Harris to the right side where he belongs. Some say we overpaid for Jonas (12 mil signing bonus), but that is like saying you overpaid for a condom that prevented you from getting genital herpes: you cant put a price on the health of your penis (QB, as it were).

Panthers land coveted offensive lineman
The Carolina Panthers made what's likely to be their biggest splash of free agency Thursday, agreeing to contract terms with offensive lineman Mike Wahle.
Terms of the deal weren't available immediately, but it's believed Wahle was seeking a signing bonus in excess of $10 million.
After spending the first seven years of his career with Green Bay, Wahle, 27, was released by the Packers in a salary cap move earlier this week.
Considered by many to be the top free agent offensive lineman, Wahle can play guard or tackle. It remains unclear where the Panthers plan to use Wahle, but they have pressing needs at right tackle and right guard.
Wahle, 6-foot-6 and 304 pounds, had his best years with the Packers at left guard, but played left tackle early in his career. The Panthers had problems on the right side of their line last season. Right tackle Adam Meadows retired in training camp and Matt Willig and Todd Fordham struggled to replace him. Right guard Tutan Reyes was inconsistent in his first season as a starter.
Wahle has started 83 of 97 games in his career and hasn't missed a start since 2000. Last season, according to Stats Inc., Wahle allowed two sacks and was called for three false starts and two holding penalties.
Damn, the Ravens needed Wahle.Bowser said:Panthers get Wahle

Fucking right, with Kevin and Pat Williams at the DTs and Harris playing MLB behind them, we might actually be able to stop the run! :-O
FOXSports.com has learned that minutes after getting lineman Mike Wahle to agree to a major deal, CB Ken Lucas agreed to a massive contract that is believed to average $8 million per year over the first two years. The deal is also believed to have a split bonus and will total $13.5 to $14 million over those two years in bonus money.
Lucas was extremely attractive on the open market because of his size and athleticism. The Seahawks didn't re-sign him because they viewed Bobby Taylor as their No. 1 corner, although others around the league love the potential that Lucas shows.
Lucas has missed just two starts in the last four seasons and in 2004 had his best season by picking off six passes. Lucas will likely team with Chris Gamble as the starting corners for Carolina, although Ricky Manning, Jr. will figure into their plans as well.
As for Wahle, the Panthers are pondering whether to start him at guard or tackle but will likely begin with him at the left guard slot.
FOXSports.com has learned that the Jets have continued to keep a dialogue open with Coles and the team is scheduled to talk to Coles' agent Thursday regarding terms that could make the trade work.
If the Jets and Coles can come to terms on a new contract that both sides view as mutually beneficial, the Jets will make the deal. Redskins sources also said they were keeping hope alive that a deal would get done in the end.
"Yesterday there was a five percent chance of this getting done," said one source close to the situation. "Now I really think it's 50-50. We'll see how talks go (Thursday)."
Both Coles and now Moss are desperate to get this deal done. Otherwise, the Redskins will retain a player who clearly does not want to be on their team. The Jets will have a player who, like Coles, has become disappointed with his status on a club. It's expected that like Coles, Moss would also covet a new deal.
Moss and Coles have actually talked about their swapping of locales. Coles has not only told the Redskins his feelings, he was even at the Pro Bowl as a guest of Jets star DE John Abraham and has a great working relationship with QB Chad Pennington.
Several people inside the league said Wednesday they caught wind that talks had started again as Coles may be softening on his stance. The Jets are encouraged enough to give it one last try.
soulja224466 said:damn, very nice. rams are looking to sign claiborne to be our MLB. Whats your opinion of him?
Slo said:Adequate but unremarkable. He played outside for us, and he was definetly the best that we had, but that's not saying much. Our other two LBs were a rookie and a second year guy, and they were both completely lost in pass coverage so they got picked on more than Claiborne did. I dunno, he didn't seem like a playmaker. Despite being out 4 games with injury he had 98 tackles so he was producing, but you almost never saw him stickin' a guy for a loss, or making a key open field tackle. Nobody on the Vikes really did, with the exception of Winfield. I was suprised to find out his numbers were that good. Maybe he's the guy getting dragged for a gain of 12 and gets credit for the stop? :lol
I mean, he's only a 6th year guy, and he didn't stand out in either Detroit or Minnesota. Not exactly a glowing resume...
Alot of people in Detroit didn't like Claiborne, I loved him though. The two things he's inconsistent but full of potential. He wasn't alway noticable. But when he did make plays they were HUGE(many game changing).soulja224466 said:I read the first paragraph, i couldn't tell if you were talking about the rams LB's or the vikes :lol
Just read he signed a 3yr/$10M deal, not too expensive. Let's hope he pans out, he's better than robert thomas anyway.

what fantastic writing!!1
Preach it. I'm thrilled to see our receiving corps get an overhaul and our line get some help. We're addressing our major problems from last year while freeing up some much-needed cap room. Finally, some fiscal conservatism in Washington. I love it.Willco said:Redskins are going to trade Coles, hopefully for Moss, which along with Samuels' restructured contract, will give them plenty of cap room since Coles commanded a big contract. Moss won't get near the money. Plus, they're unloading Rod Gardner as well. A completely new recieving corps will take the field in Washington next year and all I can say after all the dropped balls is good riddance.
Rabach helps the line, whom along with a healthy and well-paid combo of Samuels and Jansen will be so much better than last year it's not funny.

Lucky Forward said:A few radio stations in Baltimore are reporting the Ravens have re-signed cornerback Gary Baxter to a multi-year deal.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Vikings are considering the possibility of signing Burress or Travis Taylor of the Baltimore Ravens to replace Randy Moss, who was traded to the Oakland Raiders.
"Plaxico's interested in being in Minnesota," Harrison told The Associated Press. "I think it is a good fit for both sides."
Nonetheless, Harrison told The Tribune-Review last night that Burress is not scheduled to visit the Vikings.
"We are just chatting," he said. "We are getting substantial interest and weeding through it. We really are trying to find the best situation. He is going to make money, no matter what. We have to find a situation where he can get used properly and really help the team and showcase his skills at the same time, one that Plaxico is comfortable with."
While Burress pondered his next move, Vikings officials met yesterday with Taylor.
Vikings coach Mike Tice had no comment on Burress, but he said Taylor "was recruiting us, really."
"We had a different strategy, but this young man is aggressively pursuing us," Tice said. "He's a fine football player. Very articulate young man and dresses well."
In five years with the Ravens, Taylor had 204 catches for 2,758 yards and 15 touchdowns.
"Travis Taylor is a player that is intriguing," Tice said. "He has not been explosive in this league. You look at that offense and see that not many people have been."
Slo said:Great, the Vikings may never win a Super Bowl, but atleast we'll be well dressed.
Spectral Glider said::lol
I thought that was a very odd thing to point out as well. It's almost like saying, "Well, he can't play ball for shit, but boy, he sure dresses well."

Also, supposedly Ty Law is visiting Buffalo tomorrow. Law and Lawyer back together again?
Comprised entirely of pro-bowlers!

FrenchMovieTheme said:so for all those reasons and more we will be superior to buffalos D. you'll see how well buffalo operates without a huge presence in the middle (who just left to MN)
FrenchMovieTheme said:wrong! niners secondary is going to be awesome this year. here is why:
1. move mike rumph to safety. he is 6'2 and hits hard, he was always meant to be a safety. now after 2 years of playing corner, he has the hitting ability to take runners out, and the coverage ability to cover WR's
2. draft carlos rodgers or antrel rolle (although rolle reminds me of rumph, except a lot faster). that way if ahmed plummer can still play football, we have good depth
3. shawntee spencer was a lone brightspot in our secondary last year. and he was a rookie playing on a team with no pass rush! he is the real deal

Nice try, but the Niners won't come CLOSE to the Buffalo defense.
