According to ESPN and Newsday, the Giants and Rams have put out feelers for a possible trade of Orlando Pace.

It would be an interesting move for both teams. Though at the moment Pace isn't signed and doesn't have an agent.

Yes, if by "interesting" you mean "Worst trade idea ever" for the Rams.

There isn't one player on the Giants that I could say giving equal value for Orlando Pace.

Shit, there aren't three players on the Giants that I'd be comfortable with if I were in the Rams' position.

LOL@ Charles Woodson

He screwed the Raiders over BAD

cause he signed the contract, the Raiders are $15 Mil over the cap :lol

they can't even get Moss til they trade Woodson...

They're 15 million over the cap without Moss OR Porter's contracts. Including those two, they're realistically about $26 million(a guess based on the early numbers given for Porter's contract) over the limit. Meaning, they're hosed. Hosed bad.

Yeah, that's another thing. No one on the offensive side of the ball for the Giants would be any good for the Rams. On defense, as I mentioned above, Osi Umenyiora, our budding DE would be a good trading chip and would be great opposite Leonard Little, but even then, he's the only one that might even be decent for the Rams. Our LB corps is aging, and isn't very good to begin with. Sounds like a bad deal all around for the Rams. :lol

If this deal goes through, I am going to own ass in Madden 2006. :D

Yes, if by "interesting" you mean "Worst trade idea ever" for the Rams.

Well even though Pace is a Dominant player at his position the Rams have a lot of holes to fill, including elsewhere on their O-line. Will Allen, Luke Petitgout, and a decent Giants prospect/pick seems like about as good as they could get in compensation, that would be a better deal than what the Vikings are getting for Randy Moss.

But I'm not really convinced at this point that the Rams are serious or that the Giants would be willing to give up even that much to get him (though GM Ernie Accorsi may be on the hot seat if the Giants have another bad year). I'm just glad to hear that the Giants might be serious about finally upgrading the O-line this year.

:lol @ bears

mushin isn't worth that money. his stats were horribly inflated due to the following:

a. no run game in carolina for a big stretch of the season
b. no other receivers
c. a QB with the balls to throw passes he has no business throwing... and completing them!
d. he scored 3 TD's against our garbage D last year

add his age (32) on top of that and you have an overpaid receiver. i could understand him going to philly, who could use him for a year or two cause they're making a superbowl run, but not the bears. but on the plus side for the bears they can draft something other than WR in the draft if they wanted to. mushin just isn't the answer past 2 years, and they are going to be sorry when they cut him and take that hit

i'll take a proven wr like muhsin over the trash we have now, or an unproven wr coming out of the draft.
williams would have been nice, but i'll take the security of a veteran guy.

It begins dude. Just like the Colts building the team around Peyton, the Giants will build the team around Eli. He will break the single season TD record set by his bro!

Shut yo mouth, FMT! If Muhsin would have signed with the niners you would have had a two hour feature film documentary already produced on his greatness! :lol :lol

Now we can draft a WR in the first round and he doesn't have to worry about being the #1 receiver with Muhsin here! :D

Muhsin is going to help one more Bears WR come into his own this year as a huge playmaker threat: Justin Gage.

Possibly, but that only raises the question of why you would fill your O-Line holes with players from a team that is full of O-Line holes, abandoning a likely hall of famer at the most important position on the line (especially in pass protection, something the Rams kind of need...what with their insane coach and all)

And as for getting more than the Vikings got for Moss...I could trade you a stick of gum and you'd be getting pretty much what they got for Moss.

uh, real life isn't bullshit ESPN NFL 2k5 where justin gage rapes defenses at will. that guy is sheer garbage and the proof will be in the pudding this season

Mushin wouldve been a great #2.

The 'phins should jump on Jeff Garcia. Between Chris Chambers, Marty Booker, and Randy McMichael, that passing game could be fuckin' serious.

Jeff Garcia behind that offensive line, are you crazy?

Hopefully the Panthers can pick up Mike Williams or Troy Williamson to replace Muhammad in the draft. The thinking is that if Williams runs a 4.6 instead of a 4.5 or better, then he'll fall out of the top 10, which is good because he might fall right into the Panthers lap. Hopefully that happens because, regardless of how fast he runs, I know that Williams is the real thing.

Well I think the answer to that question would be cap relief. The penalties of slapping him with the franchise tag consecutively are starting to add up. As it stands he's taking up about 1/10 of the Rams 2005 salary cap and if they can't sign him to a longterm, back-loaded deal then trading him would be the only way to get more cap flexibility.

Bears are gonna snap up Williams at 4! :D

Muhammad + Williams + Gauge = Deadly combo!

I heard the Bears want Cedric Benson at #4 (which isn't going to happen, he's going to the Phins IMO). Personally, I think the Bears are gonna draft Ronnie Brown.

He should find himself a nice guy, move back to canada, get married and retire. Someday he will get the message. At best he is an average qb, any team that picks him up is going nowhere fast. Didnt he also develop an attitude problem in cleveland? Maybe he always had it, maybe thats why TO has so many issues with him. They are better off giving AJ Feeley a chance to develop.

Heh, I'm bored so I've decided to do a little mock draft of my own (I'm not doing all the teams though):

1. San Francisco 49ers
The Pick: Alex Smith, QB, Utah
-I think Mike Nolan knows a little something about Jeff Tedford coached QBs from his days with the Ravens. Kyle Boller and Joey Harrington are the prime examples of why Jeff Tedford coached QBs aren't too good. However, I still think the 9ers could pick up Rogers because he's a local product.

2. Miami Dolphins
The Pick: Cedric Benson, RB, Texas
-Nick Saban has indicated that he's comfortable with AJ Feely at QB (for now, at least) and I think Miami wants a franchise RB. Only thing to note here is that Miami may be weary of Benson, seeing as he states Ricky Williams as his role model.

3. Cleveland Browns
The Pick: Aaron Rodgers, QB, Cal
-I'm kind of sketchy on this pick...I could definately see Crennel drafting defensively with someone like Derrick Johnson out of Texas. I wouldn't be at all surprised with Crennel picking a defensive player to build the Cleveland defense around.

4. Chicago Bears
The Pick: Ronnie Brown, RB, Auburn
-I think with the signing of Muhammad and the recent rumblings of the Bears wanting a RB, they'll take Brown. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Bears trade down from this pick (like they did two years ago).

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Pick: Carnell "Cadillac" Williams, RB, Auburn
-Seems like an obvious pick. Pittman is not the answer at RB and Jon Gruden fell in love with Williams at the Senior Bowl.

6. Tennesse Titans
The Pick: Adam "Pac-Man" Jones, CB, West Virginia
-With the release of Samari Rolle, the Titans will look to find a young corner in the draft, and Jones looks like the top corner prospect this year. However, with the Titans in financial constraints at the moment, don't be surprised to see the Titans trade down.

7. Minnesota Vikings
The Pick: Mike Williams, WR, Southern Cal
-With Randy Moss getting shipped out of town, the Vikings will look for a big play WR to step in.

8. Arizona Cardinals
The Pick: Derrick Johnson, LB, Texas
-The Cardinals don't have a great linebacking core, and with the big three running backs off the board, I think they'll look to upgrade their Defense. Also, Travis Henry is rumored to go to the Cardinals in a trade for OT LJ Shelton.

9. Washington Redskins
The Pick: Braylon Edwards, WR, Michigan
-The Redskins already have a great defense and a good running back. Thier WR corps and the QB position are both suspect. I doubt Alex Smith or Aaron Rodgers is still here (though the Redskins could trade up to try and snag one of them), so they'll look to upgrade their WRs. However, I think the Redskins could pursue Plaxico Burress in free agency and could draft a CB, possibly Antrell Rolle, seeing as Fred Smoot plans on leaving.

10. Detroit Lions
The Pick: Heath Miller, TE, Virginia
-The Lions will add to their formidable receiving corps. If only they had a QB that could throw to them.

11. Dallas Cowboys
The Pick: Dan Cody, DE, Oklahoma
-It's obvious that the Cowboys need to upgrade their Defensive line, and Dan Cody looks like one of the best defensive lineman in the draft.

12. San Diego Chargers (via New York Giants)
The Pick: Erasmus James, DE, Wisconsin
-Adrian Dingle didn't look too good from what I saw of him (Panthers game and Jets game in playoffs) and James would work well with the Chargers 3-4 defense. The Chargers offense is already pretty stocked with Brees, Tomlinson, Gates, and McCardell, so I think they'll look to upgrade their defense.

13. Houston Texans
The Pick: Shawne Merrieman, LB, Maryland or Alex Barron, OT, Florida State
-I think the Texans will either add to their defensive scheme or get one of the best OT prospects in this draft to help protect Carr (who hasn't had the greatest O-Line throughout his career).

14. Carolina Panthers
The Pick: Troy Williamson, WR, South Carolina
-With the Panthers releasing Muhammad, there is now a hole at the WR spot. Steve Smith will be the #1 WR, and Keary Colbert showed flashes, but I think that Carolina will want a reciever that has game-breaking ability and speed (which Colbert does not. Colbert is an ideal #3 reciever). I can definately see Carolina trading up to around the 8-10 spot to try and nab Mike Williams or Braylon Edwards if either were still on the board. We might also pick up an OT, but I think Carolina will look to replace the O-Line through FA rather than the draft.

15. Kansas City Chiefs
The Pick: Antrell Rolle, CB, Miami (or the best defensive player left on the board)
-The Chiefs desperately need to get a defensive playmaker, and I think that it doesn't matter who's on the board, they're going after the best defensive player left. In this scenario, that's Antrell Rolle.

16. New Orleans Saints
The Pick: Thomas Davis, LB, Georgia
-The Saints wanted D.J. Williams out of Miami last year, but had to watch Denver take him right ahead of them. They might also take a DT seeing as how Jonathon Sullivan has been a huge bust for them.

Whew, I'm pooped. I might do the other 16 teams later.

There is no way Cowboys are picking Dan Cody. And looks like Ronnie Brown is gonna be the first RB taken, he had a good day in the combine. Benson is overrated imo.

Looks like Mourice Clarret is done. 4.8 on the 40, ouch!

Yeah, I saw Brown ran like a 4.32 and a 4.4, that's amazing.

edit: The Cowboys might not take Cody, but I'm pretty sure they'll take a defensive player. Maybe Marcus Spears or someone like that.

:lol :lol :lol

My guess is that Clarrett goes undrafted and is stuck on somebodies practice squad all year.

Why would the Bears grab a RB with the first pick when they have Thomas Jones.

I'm starting to wonder if we'll trade our number 4 pick for two first round picks. Or maybe a high first and a third round pick since we don't have a 3rd round pick this year.

Did you not see the times that Brown ran? 4.32. That's out of this world good. Thomas Jones is alright, servicable, but not a star RB.

They are NOT picking a TE(hell ANY offensive skill position) with the first. If they do, even after all I've endured, I will no longer fukken follow them.

Though I do hope they picl up Knott from State or Chad Owens from Hawaii later on.

Charles Woodson to the Cowboys for #11 pick & Dat Nyguen...

yowza there are some blockbusters going down this offseason!

p.s. this is "rumored" to be going down very soon

so the Raiders get a high draft pick AND a decent, young LB in return? So essentially, its like they traded Woodson for Randy Moss? I don't like the trade for the Cowboys. Woodson is overrated imo. A good corner, but not a shutdown guy. But i hate the cowboys so WHOO HOO!

Cowgirls needed a corner badly, this is good for him. Sorry to see Dat go he is a pretty solid LB to be as small as he is.

I dunno... a great CB to fill a hole left by Harris... then again...

Damn man, Al Davis is owning right now. Essentially, now, they gave up Harris, the #7 overall draft pick, and Charles Woodson for Randy Moss, Dat Nguyen, and the #11 draft pick?

Smart moves. I would have gone for Williams or Coakley, myself. But their safeties are serviceable anyway. Smart move for the 'boys as their secondary was ailing. But the #11 pick!? Sheesh. Give up a second rounder!

Woodson is overrated imo. A good corner, but not a shutdown guy. But i hate the cowboys so WHOO HOO!

Dude he is awesome in Madden, I don't know what you are talking about!

So, I've tried to reply to this fucking post twice now, and each time I try and check ESPN.com for Dat's last name's proper spelling, it says "Firefox? FUCK OFF" and causes some fucking error. God damn you ESPN.com and your IE-only bullshit.

Anyway.

Harris and Nguyen(Spelled wrong? Don't fucking care if it is, as a matter of fact) are at least equal. Hell, Nguyen at his best is much better than Harris at his. The draft isn't nearly top-heavy enough to make a 4 spot drop all that significant, and with the 11th pick the Raiders should be able to get either Jones or Rolle to replace Woodson.

I think it's a great trade if it happens for the Raiders, and they will have improved their team a whole hell of a lot by adding Randy Moss. The loss of Woodson will hurt, but their defense sucked last year anyway so who gives a hell.

Unloading Woodson was a must for the Raiders though. Once he signed that franchise tender they got themselves into some serious cap problems. Now they can sign both Porter and Moss with no problems. Man that team is going to be for real in the upcoming season.

(Assuming their coaching isn't as bad as it has been.)

Wait, you mentioned that above didn't you Archaix... :(

they have no defense and their coach is Norv Turner. "For real"? I think not.

Weird, I go on ESPN all the time with Firefox (it's my homepage even) and I haven't noticed any problems.

It's not happened to me until tonight(usually the site just looks like shit and half the stuff--espn motion, for example--doesn't work). But it happened two times in a row, so there's something going on there.

edit: The Raiders are still going to be 10+ million over the cap wihout Woodson. They're not done with roster moves yet, not by a long shot.

i bet they finish over .500

and :lol :lol :lol :lol @ Clarett
Good.

Clarett, who was hoping to improve his stock with NFL scouts, squandered his latest shot at redemption on Saturday afternoon, posting sluggish performances in the 40-yard dash. According to the unofficial times, Clarett ran 4.72 seconds and 4.82 seconds in his two efforts.

How slow are those times? By comparison, four offensive line prospects, all weighing more than 300 pounds, were clocked faster than five seconds.

"It's a rough day," said Clarett, who has not played in a game since Ohio State claimed the 2003 national championship.

Rough day? Looks like you're gonna have a rough career :lol

Holy shit same here. It's happened like 8 times today, fucking pissing me off.

Looks like Bettis isn't quite done yet. Steelers signed him to a new 1 year deal.

2010 would have been one hell of a fucking Hall of Fame class though(And still could be).

Smith, Brown, possibly Rice, possible Favre, and could have been Bettis.

Shit, it would have been a full class made from just first year eligible players(Though, if those five actually did retire, I could see Brown and Bettis both being kept out for a year).

edit: Shit, forgot about Rod Woodson. He's another player who would almost certainly be a first-ballot HOF member.

Rams would be DUMB, DUMB, DUUUUUUUMB to make that trade with giants. I'm 99% sure the rams FO leaked this info to make pace get off his ass and sign an agent. Petitgout and will allen....................for orlando frikken pace? u joking me? lol never gonna happen.

cornerback is not one position that really needs to be upgraded on defense. we need more d-line depth, linebackers, and a free safety. not another average CB and an overachieving right tackle turned LT.

I have to change my tune a bit regarding Dallas' moves this offseason. While I am not too happy about Bledsoe becoming a Cowboy, he is far better than Vinny and Henson is not ready to be a starter. Keyshawn and Glenn (if they stay healthy) combined with Jason Witten could be a decent threat. Hopefully Julius Jones can stay healthy, too. If this rumor is true Dallas may not see a player that will add to the team as much as needed with the #11 pick, and patching the pass defense -- especially now that Darren Woodson retired -- is needed. Dat is a good player, but... yeah it sucks we had to lose Dat

You can relax soulja, for now. :)

INDIANAPOLIS - Giants general manager Ernie Accorsi yesterday essentially acknowledged the Rams made an inquiry to see if the Giants are interested in left tackle Orlando Pace, but he said there are no ongoing trade discussions.

"There are inquiries made all the time about players," Accorsi said. "That's as much as I'll say."

But there certainly is intrigue in the Giants' organization about Pace, and it is possible they will revisit the situation sometime before the April 23 draft. One team official said the team "would love to have Pace." But he doesn't think the Giants have enough to give the Rams in return. The Giants traded their first-round pick to San Diego in last year's deal to get quarterback Eli Manning.

The Giants also believe the Rams are trying to see if they can spur Pace into signing a long-term contract.

Mike Williams ran a 4.61 and a 4.59 in the 40 today. Not good but not bad either. Brylon Edwards didn't run.

I don't think Dallas would give up Dat Nguyen and the 11th pick for Woodson. Yes we need a corner but that deal would put us more in a hole at the defensive side. We would need a safety, DE, and MLB if that deal goes down and we would have only 1 good draft pick left. But Parcells likes bigger LB so who knows.

alejob said:

Yes, hopefully that means he's slipping down other people's draft boards.

...

I can hope, can't I?

Troy Williamson clocked in with a 4.31 and 4.32. Several scouts had him ahead of Williams before the combine; his stock continues to rise.

Mother f.... Redskins pursuing Rolle. That secondary is going to be very strong if they can sign him to compliment Fred Smoot. The entire NFC East is making moves, except for the Giants. C'mon guys. :(

Forgot to mention I was told this morning that rumor has it that the Dolphins are interested in filling their runningback need with Travis Henry. If I were the Bills.... Trade for Randy McMichael. ;) A good receiving TE is the one piece that offense is missing (sans an offensive line).

http://www.nfl.com/news/

Muhsin Muhammad had nearly twice as many TD receptions as all Bears in 2004.

:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
