not trying to be a dick(since i haven't been able to watch any colts preseason games, and i honestly don't know this), but how much playing time did peyton have?

Actually, I don't know. The only Colts preseason game I watched was the Denver one, where he played the first half and I think 2 series in the 3rd quarter.

edit: Falcons game: 1 qtr and a bit into the 2nd qtr
Bills game: 3 snaps
Bears game: 1st qtr and half of 2nd qtr
Brocos game: 2 qtrs and 2 series in 3rd
Bengals game: dnp

Ugh, have enough people picked the Colts to win? The Ravens will take this game..it'll be tough but doable.

I have no faith in Kyle Boller... I have questionable faith about our O-line's ability to pass block and create running lanes... just like last year. I'd love to be wrong though.

I wouldnt be surprised if it was less than the ones picking the panthers. Dont forget, carolina is not a playoff team. The guys picking them never give any reason for why they expect such a massive turnaround.

How about the fact that they almost made the playoffs last year with a team that had no #1 wideout, no #1-3 RB, a couple dozen offensive linemen injured, a top defensive lineman injured...

Nah, it must be because they have a vendetta against the eagles.

So would I so would I

You know who im seein as a good contender? Maybe not this year but next the Lions. I mean the got one of the best combinations of WR, and a good RB not great yet but good. If the O-line gets a little better and Joey starts playing better theyll have a great season.

Don't try to argue with him, it's pointless.

I love this excuse. NEWS FLASH, OTHER TEAMS DEAL WITH INJURYS TOO. Its a part of the game. The panthers just werent a very good team.

Now I'm not a Panthers fan but last season they lost some really key players that I think actually did have an impact.

no other team has injuries except the panthers. That's the only reason they didn't win the superbowl last year. how dare you call them a mediocre team, sean salisbury says they have heart!

Every team loses key players. Its the bad teams that cant overcome. The ones that use it as an excuse.

I hate to be defending the Panthers here, but come on, I can see your point if the Panthers lost one or 2 players, but they lost like 6 or 7.

If the Eagles lost McNabb, Westbrook, T.O, Trotter, and Dawkins and they went on to be 6-10 or whatever would you say they were just bad team that never had a shot at a Superbowl?

I hate the Falcons [;)], but I appreciate your support :)

panthers did have a lot of injuries, but they also benefited from a very easy schedule to get into the playoff hunt. 49ers, bucs, saints, cards, rams (with chandler lol), and the bucs again. it's not their fault they had an easy schedule, and you still have to WIN those games (god knows we didnt and we had an "easy" schedule also), but i don't know that they deserve superbowl recommendations. then again, i don't know that any team does right now. i think people are (correctly) basing their praise of the panthers on the fact that they have one of the better teams in the nfl when healthy. they probably have the best defensive player in the NFC on their squad, and an above-average QB/RB/WR, so i can't necessarily argue when people say they think the panthers are going to win the superbowl, but it's just too early to call. but that is what people get paid for, so who gives a crap

Saints to move?
By Robert Travis Scott
Capital bureau

New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson is leaning strongly toward moving the Saints permanently to San Antonio following the devastation to the city and the Superdome by Hurricane Katrina, a state senator who has spoken with a top team official said Saturday.

Sen. Mike Michot, R-Lafayette, said he spoke with Saints’ chief of administration Arnold Fielkow by phone Friday morning about Benson’s potential plans.

Team officials could not be reached Saturday. The team had previously announced it was looking for a new home for the current season, and San Antonio was one of the options.

Michot said he was told that Benson has not made a final decision, but the owner is serious about moving once and for all to San Antonio. “We may lose them permanently,” Michot said.

A possible move by the team is a “huge concern” among a few state officials who have become aware of it, but every significant political figure in the state is preoccupied with reacting to the storm aftermath.

State officials want to convince Benson to delay a decision so that the state can focus on the rescue and rehabilitation effort and later find a way to keep the Saints at home in New Orleans.

“This is like pouring salt into the wound,” Michot said.

Michot said decency dictates that Benson should postpone any decision on a permanent move until state officials have had a chance to talk with him.
“Give us time,” Michot said.
Another state official confirmed a similar conversation with Fielkow.

Michot is the vice-chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee, a key committee for legislation related to state agreement with the Saints.
He said that in the long run the Saints might be better off staying in New Orleans because a revived city with national support could provide a better stadium.

Wow, sucks for NO fans :(

Not cool if he's going to move now.. I could have sworn that I read he had alot of local businesses in NO... car dealerships or something?

I know sports is a business. Loyalty and ethics have no place in the fukken equation.

Still if the Saints ditch NO for another venue permanently, I hope that fool dies without sniffing the playoffs again.

Well, San Antonio does deserve a chance to have a team. And we can't ignore that New Orleans was being a bunch of assholes to the team before the hurricane hit just because it did.

I'll admit some extreme circumstances were put on an already rocky situation.

Ford might know less than a dogs ass about running a football team, but he's loyal to a fault.

Sorry if this sounds incensitive, but after seeing all of this why would ANYONE rebuild ANYTHING in New Orleans? I totally understand why he'd move now.

Come on, man, wouldn't you want to have an NFL franchise in the world's first flying city? You know it'll happen sooner or later, why not start here and now?

i agree with the decision to move. what happened in new orleans is awful, but it is the right time now. the one thing i'll remember about the new orleans fans at a saints game is on a monday night game against the rams, in a tight game, the refs called a PI on the saints in the endzone. it was a questionable call, but you could see why it was called. anyways, the fans started throwing bottles and trash and shit onto the field and at the refs. totally classless.

beyond that, how the hell are the saints going to have ANY "home" games this year?? their home opener was supposed to be against the giants in new orleans in week 2, now they moved that "home" game to new york. how the fuck is that a home game for the saints!? move the team now i say

I don't like the Texans at all. :D

The Jags played like crap against them last year. It reminded me of those games against the Titans a few years back. :(

Hopefully this year the Jags can score more with the new offense they built and Leftwich can throw fewer INTs. I'd like to see the O-line pick it up a bit more, they scared me in preseason with all the hits and sacks our QBs took.
Taylor is going to be extremely important for the offense this year. We need him to keep the defense guessing.

Get used to them. We'll be fighting them for the top of the AFC South for a good few years to come, once the Colts' salary cap finally gives in.

Leftwich can throw fewer INTs?

Here's a few QBs who threw more INTs per game than Leftwich last year:

Tom Brady, Michael Vick, Vinny Testaverde, Kerry Collins, Jake Plummer, Carson Palmer, Trent Green, Brett Favre, Drew Bledsoe, Aaron Brooks, Matt Hasselbeck, Jake Delhomme, David Carr, Marc Bulger, Steve McNair, Joey Harrington, Brian Griese.

He's not exactly leading the league in INTs. Only Manning threw less per game in the AFC South, and I hear he's quite good.

As for scoring more, the new offence looked pretty good against Dallas. If Jimmy Smith can hold on to the ball, that is.

I think 10 is too much for anyone that threw only 15 TDs.

Leftwich is VERY capable of being a top QB in the league and his off-season workout really has shown in how he looked in preaseason and training camp. He is smart and has a very strong arm, he should have a much better season this year. Especially with this WR core, which I love. Jimmy Smith and crew really need to catch the ball this year for Byron, but I think they'll be alright once the games start to count. I hope and pray Taylor can be the back everyone knows he can be when he is healthy.

I think the Jags have one of the most talented WR cores in the game, they are very young right now (except for Jimmy Smith) and just need time. I can't wait to see the Jags throw it down the field more this year. With our huge WRs like Reggie Williams, Ernest Wilford, and Matt Jones, I can see a bunch of plays where Byron just tosses the ball up there for them to grab. There aren't many people that can defend guys that will just over them to catch the ball, especially since three WRs are 6-4 or taller. Jimmy Smith will be his usual self having a very nice season.

I can't wait to see the Jags play an entire game this season, preseason kept me wanting to see more of the passing game they have, they are fun to watch.

ESPN's 12 "experts' " picks (don't worry Duce, no one picked the Panthers to win the Super Bowl so you don't have to go on a tirade about disrespect or whatever).

Some real oddities here, including Joe Thiesmann picking the Redskins (!) to make the Super Bowl.

5 pick the Colts to win it all
3 pick the Eagles
2 pick the Pats
1 picks the Steelers
1 picks the Rams

edit: Michael Smith is a bit outlandish with his picks. Raiders winning AFC West, Titans making the playoffs, and, get this, KURT FUCKING WARNER FOR MVP?!?

:lol :lol :lol

Looks like Rice's Press conference is 1:30 ET. Im gonna be watching it assuming ESPNEWS shows it.

I almost died of shock when I saw Merril Hoge picked the Cowboys to win the division. Seriously, how does that guy still have a job. Theisman is even worse picking the Redskins to get to the superbowl.

Hmm, remember that profootballtalk.com report about the some Steelers hating Big Ben and how everyone was like "oh that's bullshit!"? Well, now this Seth Wickersham dude from ESPN put this in his blog:

• Big Ben will struggle, and you will hear more grumblings about his "likeability" factor in the lockerroom. There are already whispers that many Steelers hate the guy ESPN The Magazine tabbed "Next."

http://insider.espn.go.com/proxy/pr...proxy.dll/insider/magazine/magBlog?id=2040361

It's ESPN Insider (which I don't have) but you don't need it to see the first two bullets (the Big Ben one being the 2nd bulllet).

ruh-oh.

The only solace I take in these picks is that 7/12 picked Peppers for DPOY :)

But what the hell, there are TWO people who picked Kurt Warner for MVP. I dunno what hit them in the head, but obviously something did.

" YA WELL YA KNOW YOU GO OUT THERE AND GIVE IT 110%"

I think for half of Michael Smith's picks, he just drew names out of a hat, namely his AFC West pick, his AFC Wild card pick, his DROY pick (who the hell is B. Poole?), and his MVP pick.

A few things I don't agree with on that list:

Manning being named MVP. He's not going to do it. It's going to take a hell of a lot to make people vote for him three years running, and any season is going to look like a letdown after last year.

The Colts making it to(and winning the) super bowl. Not going to happen. Too soft, just not going to happen. It's just not. They get bitch slapped by the Pats every year. And if it's not the Pats this year, it'll be the Steelers or the Ravens. Hell, even the Chiefs will be playing a more physical game than the Colts this year.

The absolute insanity of some of the writers: Come on now, the Rams? The Redskins? Kurt Warner? Are they just realizing after years of picking incorrectly that you may as well say the most ridiculous stuff you can come up with?
