Labinjo is our backup? Stick Simonau back at MLB. He has perfected the art of slowing the ball carrier down just enough so a real player can make the tackle.

He was dragging around Mathis by the facemask, and he at least attempted to punch him. They both have to be thrown out in a situation like this. It's not like Mathis ran up to Trotter, punched him, and ran away. They got into a fight. Both participants in a fight get ejected. Much like during a game, if you get shoved the guy who did the shoving won't likely be penalized. But if you shove back, you will. Trotter fought back, so he's gone. Dumb rule, but rule.

That's not a rule. That's blind refs seeing only the second action. It's apples and oranges anyway, since this happened in the pre-game. Mathis punched Trotter. Trotter never punched Mathis. It's really as simple as that. I'm not saying a guy who throws the second punch shouldn't get ejected, I'm saying that since he never threw a punch he shouldn't be ejected. Bad call, and the video proves it every time they show it. Telling that the only people sticking up for it are Giant and Pittsburgh fans. Hell Duce22 has given my team nothing but shit for 2 years but I can still see the incident for what it was.

By your reasoning, Trotter should run away when he was punched. I see nothing wrong with grabbing a guy's facemask as he's throwing haymakers at you. As for the shoving example, that wouldn't result in you getting thrown out, just a personal foul penalty. By your rationale, Mathis should be ejected and the Eagles penalized 15 yards. I can agree with that, but Trotter should play in this game. Too bad the refs suck ass in this league.

:lol :lol

Parker didn't play much during his four years as a Tar Heel because he didn't fit the program's style (UNC's longtime football style being, of course, to lose).

Used sparingly as a rookie, Parker busted out for 102 yards on 19 carries in Pittsburgh's 2004 regular-season finale victory at Buffalo, a game Bills fans fondly recall as Drew Bledsoe's last in a Bills uniform.

Parker's dazzling performance on Sunday against the Titans may cause a logjam at running back in Pittsburgh when Jerome Bettis and regular starter Duce Staley return from injury. But even if Parker loses the starting job, he will, of course, get it back very soon when Staley inevitably gets injured again.

Headlines That Are Probably in Newspapers This Morning ...
Baltimore Sun: "Season opener promising as Kyle Boller falls to injury"

+/- 5 -- Days until Jerry Rice signs as a backup receiver with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers of the Arena Football 2 league

(Okay, so I just pasted that because it mentioned my town's minor league AFL team. And, no, I'm not saying that the AFL is a minor league. The AFL actually has it's own minor league, AF2.)

And that explains why I've never heard of Willie Parker. I was wondering about that.

No Hank Williams Jr.?! WTF?! Where's my theme music?!

...although, it hasn't been the same since they dropped the choir singing in the background with him.... :(

:lol I still cant get over the fact that the ref during the fight threw a flag! :lol did they walk off some yardage or something? did he want to make sure the clock stopped?

bob there is no way in FUCK the bears are going to beat us. you guys had to depend on 2 bullcrap calls by the refs to beat FUCKING KEN DORSEY LAST YEAR! there's no way you are going to get close to us this year.

but back to the rams niners game, seriously soulja even YOU have to admit that mike martz is probably one of the worst coaches in the league in regards to playcalling and managing the game. you will NEVER EVER be a true contender in this league if you are putting up 56 passes a game. and the kicker is that you don't do that shit AGAINST THE 3-4! played RIGHT into our hands with our blitzing schemes. the way to beat the 3-4 is to run right at it.

i'm anxious to test our team out against the eagles next week. if we can protect rat as well as we did on sunday against the blitzing eagles (which is probably a pipe dream to be honest) then we will be in the game. but damn we need to get our running game going. gore had some nice runs, i think if barlow sputters out in the first quarter we need to get gore or even hicks in there. 14 for 22 is a fucking JOKE no matter which way you cut it. there weren't many open holes, but even a closed hole is good for a few yards here and there. barlow is jukey mcjuke in the hole, he needs to hit that shit with some urgency

56 passes is not what even mike martz wanted im sure, but the 3-4 has nothing to do with it lol. bulger has torn up 3-4 defenses in the past, and im sure martz wanted to attack the niner young DB's. That was the gameplan, and i have no problem with it. The only problem i had was the cutesy running plays, the counters and sweeps etc. We shoulda ran 39 right up the gut alot more.

on top of that we barely blitzed, when we did we had success. as usual the gameplan was ok, but the in-game adjustments were never made.

:lol :lol looks like the Falcons are still pretty damn fired up, thought there might've been a late tackle on the opening kickoff;)

Keith Brooking made one hell of an open field tackle.

Now, if only the receiver had gotten the ball before said open field tackle.

and soulja what was with the no-calls on the rams for horse-collar tackles? apparently nfl rules don't apply unless it's that fucking baby terrell owens getting horse collared. (props to DJ for reminding me of this!)

Wait...what?

Neil O'Donnell has the best pass:interception ratio in the history of the NFL?

What?

Neil "Here, Mr. Cowboy, Please take this ball, my team does not want it" O'Donnell? What the fuck is going on here?

Wow the Eagles just said they aren't afraid of the Atlanta offense by attempting that 50yd FG.... that's pretty f'ked up.

football players have to be the goddamn stupidest fighters on the face of the earth. "Even though you are wearing a bigass helmet and 30 lbs of what basically amounts to armor, im going to punch you in the face!"

No worries, it was so blatent. I guess the refs were watching for the retaliation horse collar.

On a tangent, I love Madden, but Al Michaels "this is what Mike Vick does" acts like this is the first football game I've ever seen. It won't get better with Joe Theissman next year.

I think instead of wondering why there aren't 30 good QB's on the planet, we should wonder why there aren't 10 competent football announcers in the world.

edit--Mike Vick "doing what he does" :lol

so at what point are they going to convert Vick to a RB/WR?

edit: :lol haven't these fools in the media learned a goddamn thing from Shaq and Kobe? Just because they hi-five each other on the field doesn't mean they still don't hate each other's guts.

You didn't know that? That's what sucked about Neil's SB30 picks, completely out of character. For what it's worth, one of the damning picks was Neil's fault, the other was Corey Holliday's.

Actually, I did know that. It's just that I have the same reaction every time I hear it, which is about twice a year. Plus, it's a nice thing to remind myself. No matter how bad some throws are, there is no chance whatsoever that they could ever be as bad as the two passes that Neil threw against the Cowboys that day. It gives me good perspective on life.

what the F was owens doing? he could have broken that INT up

Well with that kinda pass play it's more of a timing thing so he hauls ass for X amount of time and then turn and look for the ball which should be coming just as he starts to look for it... he never saw that it was floated, and the cover man was looking back earlier and saw it.

Man Michael Vick is doing his Kyle Boller impression so far...

Couldn't agree more. I figured Hall didn't have a bead on that ball by Owens positioning, I figured wrong.

Good to see McRibb is back in form, damn helmet to the chest has gotta suck. Is there any way both these teams can lose? :(

The rest of Neil's career has become a bit of an enigma after that SB.

I agree with you, I don't think he had a play on the ball.

Koy is comming in, sweet.

I thought that too until i saw the replay. He was running to where the ball was supposed to be and it just never got there. It did look like he made a legit effort afterwards to get to the ball.

Well, he did find a way to fuck over the Steelers again in the 2002 playoffs. The moment McNair went out in that game and O'Donnell was brought in, I thought the Steelers had it locked up. I thought wrong.

Fucking Titans.

That is the largest pad that anybody has worn in the history of football. Giant surprise that he can't throw well. He looks like he's wearing eight fucking parkas.

O'Donnel actually had a handful of really productive games filling in for McNair with the Titans.

now he's probably off on some island somewhere, living off the $10,000,000 Jerry Jones put into his offshore bank account 2 days before Super Bowl 30.

Neil only came in for a play or two in that game. McNair went on to throw for over 300 in that one. You may be thinking of one of the regular season games during 98 when Neil helped the Bengals shred the Steelers piss poor secondary that year. Think he only missed like 5 passes or something that day.

No, no, I'm saying he fucked the Steelers over by not staying in longer. He gave me false hope when I saw him.

edit: As far as the game that's actually going on now, I really thought Vick pitched the ball to himself for the hell of it at first sight of that touchdown run. Maybe he should start doing that. Pitch the ball back to nobody, cause the defense to scramble after it, and all of a sudden he's back there to catch it and run for a touchdown.

haven't i seen this T.O. story before? yes i have in san francisco! bitches about his contract, plays anyways, then mysteriously starts dropping balls and not making all the plays he can (i.e. breaking up that int)

Truelize, you said you didn't want to be a Vick abuser in Madden, but dude...Vick abuses in real life :/ Use him, and often!

DCX

Impressive pass from Vick.

You know I picked the Eagles to win tonight... but man I'd be REAL happy if the Falcons win...
