I like your overconfidence.

I was with you until the last sentence, good sir! Joseph Addai was the 2nd runner up for OROY!

It's a results-driven world. Addai helped his team win a Superbowl - I'd have been happy to see him get recognition for that. MJD or Colston would also have been acceptable candidates, seeing as these were all players who were among the best at their position, as opposed to being among the worst.

if you're in that team's local region, the game will be broadcast on your local network... NE's region was changed this year, that might be what he's complaining about.

if you get boston's network broadcasts, you'll get the game.

It's supposed to be on channel 5..I have NFL network so it doesn't really matter.

Well, NY is showing the game on local TV. You should double check your area.,

Oh shit, thanks guys!

Yeah, I always thought it was idiotic... I'm happy they changed it.

you're happy? I thought they made it smaller... what was the actual change?

I read your post wrong :/ , so they did remove it? :( I have cable at get the local Boston channels... so I should be cool. Would it be other states that have issues? (CT, RH etc)

I think their market was bigger within Mass... now it shrunk down closer to Boston, if you get boston stations, you should be fine.

pollo-

A keyshawn jersey will get you on TV!

The ironic thing is, isn't Gholston the first draft pick in years that the fans approved of when it happened?:lol

Pretty much--but despite all his potential, he hasn't played much football at all, really, even if he wasn't currently warming the bench. So for now he gets a pass.

I'm more worried at who the hell's gonna stop that modern day Chrebet, Welker.

Play Law at Safety. Problem solved...

I have no idea what he will bring to be honest or how much he will even play. I guess signing him made more sense when I read that the Pats wanted him as well. From the one year he was with us, the biggest thing that stood out for me is that he has the freakish ability to always be around the ball, either making a straight INT or somehow getting a hold of a tipped pass for one.

bob_arctor said:
He retired due to concussions. I think they honored him at one of the games. I could be very wrong though.

iirc, he owns a restaurant, but has a tough time w/day-to-day memory. really sad story.

Well I've watched every game he's played minus his KC stint. He's good in zone and bumb and run. He excelled at jamming receivers and re-routing them but became much less effective once the leaugue changed the rules because Bill Polian and Indy's failures at the time against the Pats. He hasn't played in a long time so I'd be shocked if he played alot but he shouldnt' have any problem being a nickel back or in dime packages. When the Pats were thinking of aquiring him I thought he would be better suited at safety because of his lack of speed but he's always had great instincts.

Interesting analysis of the running game and its affect on the win-loss records of top NFL teams this season:

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/2008/11/the_power_of_the_running_game.html#more

"The top five teams in terms of time of possession - Baltimore, New York Giants, New England, Arizona and Skins - are all 6-3 or better, and have a combined record of 32-13.

Team (record) - number of rushes vs. opponent rushes

Baltimore (6-3) - 343 rushes to 200 for opponents - plus 143
Atlanta (6-3) - 312-221 - plus 91
Giants (8-1) - 295 - 202 - plus 93
Tennessee (9-0) - 302-218 - plus 84
Vikings (5-4) - 286 - 202 - plus 84
Skins (6-3)- 282-201 - plus 81

Here's their ranking against the run - Baltimore (first), Minnesota (third), Skins (sixth), Giants (seventh), Tennessee (eighth) and Atlanta is an exception at 21st.

None of these teams have statistically dominant quarterbacks; in fact, Jason Campbell is by far the highest rated of any passer in the bunch, ranked seventh in the NFL with a 92.4 passer rating. Matt Ryan (Atlanta) is 11th with an 89.9 rating, Eli Manning (Giants) is 15th with an 88.8 rating, Joe Flacco (Baltimore) is 20th with a 79.7 rating, Kerry Collins (Tennessee) is 21st at 78.8 and Gus Frerotte (Minnesota) is 26th with a weak 74.0.

By comparison, the teams with the top five rated passers - San Diego (Philip Rivers), Arizona (Kurt Warner), Dallas (Tony Romo) and Green Bay (Aaron Rodgers) are a combined 23-23, and three of those clubs are below .500."

Giants better not fuck up against the Ravens.

I will proclaim them as flukes and frauds if they blow that game. And if they win I will of course say that it confirms Eli's place in my football religion and the Giants are the best team in football.

Reggie Bust doing what he does best; anything else but football.

Oh yeah, back in the thread for real now. Time to take it to the streets!

Thu, Nov 13
NYJ @ NE. This is a statement game for the Jets. Put Cassel on his back, and they'll be forced to run on the Jets - and die trying. Favre was signed to win this kind of game; he'll get up for it.

Sun, Nov 16
DEN @ ATL. Atlanta's too tough for Denver.
MIN @ TB. LOL VIKINGS.
BAL @ NYG. Are you really picking against the Giants? Really?
DET @ CAR. So I'm expecting that this'll be the 40+ point beating for the week.
PHI @ CIN. A balanced game from the Iggles on both sides of the ball.
CHI @ GB. Not enough SHIN ORTON to win this one.
OAK @ MIA. Chad and the Fish win this one, and make the AFC East more interesting.
NO @ KC. :lol @ Herman Edwards.
HOU @ IND. It's Houston.
STL @ SF. There's no option for both of them to lose, so I'm picking this for Niners-age!
ARI @ SEA. Resurrection of Kurt continues!
TEN @ JAC. They will continue marching towards perfection!
SD @ PIT. If the Chargers weren't the most maddeningly mediocre team...
DAL @ WAS. ...the the 'Boys are :lol

Mon, Nov 17
CLE @ BUF. AFC Beast confirmed.

J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS.
Go get 'em, Gang Green. Put up or shut up time!

can you watch tonights game online or something? or do you NEED t ohave the stupid nfl network?

I'd like to watch my jets beat the pats tonight :D

I dunno if you want to edit out that link. Might not be kosher. Any given Sunday, you could probably get away with it, but not during a primetime game when everyone pops in here. NAHMEAN?

Is this a not-so-subtle sign to the Eagles front office that Ocho Cinco wants to come to Philly next year?

Chad Ocho Cinco is crediting Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb with helping him adjust his attitude at the start of training camp.

Ocho Cinco, who had spent the offseason criticizing the Bengals and broadly hinting to the media that he would appreciate a trade out of Cincinnati, said McNabb helped convince him to put his teammates first and forget about his personal disappointments, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

Ocho Cinco, calling McNabb a close friend, said McNabb reminded him that while he might feel miserable, millions of people would gladly trade places with him.

"I blew his phone up," Ocho Cinco said Wednesday, according to the Inquirer. "Donovan was a big influence. [He] really is one of the reasons why I really turned myself around and looked at my situation as more of a positive outlook and just thinking about all the people that would love to play this game, you know?
Johnson turning a new leaf?

"He took me in that direction, instead of thinking about, 'Oh, I'm tired of losing and I don't want to be here anymore,' but just thinking about, 'Man, a lot of people wish they were in your shoes just to have the ability to play in the NFL.' That kind of turned me around, and that's why I've been as positive as I have been this year, and even though we're losing, man, I've just been plugging away."

McNabb was not alone in helping Ocho Cinco get focused on football. Earlier this season, Ray Lewis said he also counseled Ocho Cinco spiritually.

"What I told him is just whatever you have going on, think of God," Lewis told reporters at the time. "Let God deal with that. Just understand that you're a role model for so many people. So many young kids want to be in the position you're in. They want to follow Chad Johnson."

At the time -- before Ocho Cinco had changed his name from Chad Johnson -- Lewis said his friendship outweighed the fact he was a key player on a division rival.

"You don't care about wins and losses when it comes down to brotherhood and competition," Lewis said. "That's why I love when we play against Chad Johnson and play against those guys like that, because you're going to get their best, and that's why you play the game."

Jones opines on playoffs, Pacman, Phillips in interview

VING, Texas -- Jerry Jones "absolutely" believes the Dallas Cowboys will make the playoffs, would welcome Adam "Pacman" Jones back to the team if he's reinstated and isn't considering a coaching change.

The Cowboys owner, in an impromptu gathering with reporters during practice Thursday, said he expects his struggling Cowboys to recover. They have gone from Super Bowl favorites to a 5-4 team tied for third place in the NFC East after losing four of their past six games.

"That's not optimism," Jones said. "I just see that we were going to have to be a team that [was] playing well and won a lot of games at the end of the year to be what we want to be anyway."

Cornerback Adam Jones was suspended indefinitely last month for violating the league's personal conduct policy. Commissioner Roger Goodell said he would determine the length of the suspension after four games, which would be after Sunday's game in Washington.

Speculation about coach Wade Phillips' job status has intensified in the past month.

The Cowboys were already struggling when quarterback Tony Romo broke a pinkie in a loss at Arizona and missed three games. Dallas lost two of three without him, and the only win was notable for being the worst offensive performance in a victory in franchise history.
