Wow I picked a lot of road teams. Should be a fun as hell week!

ns-barber.gif

Eli: 400 yards, 5 TDs, 0 ints, 2 rushing TDs.

Atlanta at Buffalo --I know, they made me look like an ass last week, but I'm slow to learn from my mistakes.
Carolina at Miami
Cincinnati at Chicago
Cleveland at Indianapolis --So who did Peyton blow to get this schedule, anyway?
Jacksonville at N.Y. Jets
New Orleans at Minnesota--Absolute lock of the year. Not only is Minnesota far better than 0-3, but the Saints are a bad team coming off of a road Monday Night game(I'm sorry, it's a home game that just conveniently happens to take place in a stadium named after the opponents) and playing on the road again. And they suck. And I'm sick of hearing how emotional they are. Get the fuckers some paxil and balance them out.
Oakland at Philadelphia
Tampa Bay at Green Bay --I'm thinking Aaron Rodgers was drafted to be a career backup to Matt Leinart.
Tennessee at St. Louis --Yeah, I'll start picking St. Louis immediately. They looked oh so convincing in weeks one and two.
Arizona at Seattle
Dallas at San Francisco
New England at Pittsburgh
N.Y. Giants at San Diego --The best 0-2 team hosting one of the two worst 2-0 teams. This is a tough one.
Kansas City at Denver

And the hate continues. Fetch me my rolleyes icon.

Just take comfort in the fact that I wouldn't hate the Giants at all if it weren't for you. You're my inspiration :D

edit: Why should I hate the Giants, anyway? If it weren't for them drafting and trading Rivers, the Steelers never would have ended up with Roethlisberger. I love those guys!

Archaix the comment on the giants game is uncalled for but hey..play that game. I picked the chargers to win because they are my second team next to the Redskins.

Here's hoping I do better coming off an early bye week.

:( Every time I have ever picked the niners they lose, maybe they will win since I picked one of my most hated teams to win.

I'm trying to reverse my picks,I mean im picking teams I hate...a NY team,Bears,Dallas...ugh.

New Orleans at Minnesota
Oakland at Philadelphia
Tampa Bay at Green Bay
Tennessee at St. Louis

New England at Pittsburgh - Tough call.
N.Y. Giants at San Diego - The most underrated 2-0 offense in the league will hopefully gain a little respect when they go 3-0.
Kansas City at Denver

Last Week: 9-7

Season: 17-15

Atlanta at Buffalo
Carolina at Miami
Cincinnati at Chicago
Cleveland at Indianapolis
Jacksonville at N.Y. Jets
New Orleans at Minnesota
Oakland at Philadelphia
Tampa Bay at Green Bay
Tennessee at St. Louis
Arizona at Seattle
Dallas at San Francisco

New Orleans at Minnesota
Oakland at Philadelphia
Tampa Bay at Green Bay
Tennessee at St. Louis
Arizona at Seattle
Dallas at San Francisco
New England at Pittsburgh
N.Y. Giants at San Diego
Kansas City at Denver

Atlanta at Buffalo- It pains me to pick against my Falcons, but I don't think Vick will play, or that he even SHOULD.
Carolina at Miami- I like the Dolphins, but c'mon. The Panthers beat the frickin' Pats.
Cincinnati at Chicago- I think Carson Palmer stole Peyton's mojo, and he wants it back. Bears D can't save them from this.
Cleveland at Indianapolis-Who does Cleveland have on their team again? Gonna be a long season for Romeo Crennel.
Jacksonville at N.Y. Jets- I still think the Jets suck.
New Orleans at Minnesota- Will Culpepper have more INTs than the Vikings have points scored? But I bet he still doesn't miss Randy.
Oakland at Philadelphia- Tough luck for Oakland, they should have won that game last week(BS call on that Moss push off). Westbrook well on his way to an MVP award(oh yeah, I'm callin it- over 1000 yards rushing and 1000 receiving with around 20 TDs).
Tampa Bay at Green Bay- Cadillac. Nuff said.
Tennessee at St. Louis- I flipped a coin on this one. The Titans aren't very good, but come on. The Rams lost to the 9ers. :lol
Arizona at Seattle- Arizona lost to a team that lost to the 9ers. :lol
Dallas at San Francisco- The Cowgirls are gonna air it out against the 9ers after their pitiful, conservative display earlier tonight.
New England at Pittsburgh- Tough call. I don't think Rofflesburger will continue to play this well, but at the same time the Pats are in the middle of one tough stretch.
N.Y. Giants at San Diego- Week 2 of the Difference Maker will make a difference.
Kansas City at Denver- Denver is freaking terrible. I wouldn't let Jake Plummer babysit my fictitious child.

Bonus prediction: The Ravens will somehow find a way to get worse this week.

all you guys picking against the rams have overlooked one thing....this game is our home opener. we're the only team to start the season with 2 road games.

yes, we lost to the niners but it wasnt in st. louis so i wasnt all that shocked. i will be shocked if we lose to the titans.

Finally seeing some Jaguars love in the picks. Did that 44.0 passer rating for Manning help make some of those decisions, I wonder?

THOUGHTS. I hate the media. All these incredibly dumb predictions and they never back anything up week to week. They live in the moment, flip flop every damn second, and do it with complete disregard. ESPN and the like anyway. The radio is so much better in this respect. They make a note to repeat dumb quotes and when they're shocked, they tell us. I can't take ESPN. Been getting under my skin more than ever as of late. To start off, Carolina. Did we hear a massive wave of "Super Bowl?" week 1? Yes. Then they lose to the Saints. EVERYONE jumps off mentioning we maybe spoke to soon. If you didn't, the analysts act like you missed the memo. But of course they're the ones who can't find a damn balance. They're blotched Monday Night Football predictions as proof. 0 for 2 across the board. On the season, 1 right pick amongst all of em. 1.

But I digress. I expect Vick to come back with a strong performance. The doubt in that last drive he had to come out on was very apparent though. Knew he had all the room to run but wasn't sure he had the ability. You can see him then try to be Vick and fall. I think he'll regain himself next Sunday though. Carolina meanwhile should ride high off last week. They just need to continue to play tough and put a little bit of points on the board. Miami won't score that much if the Panthers tighten the D but they could if not.

Bears meanwhile have their first showtime match-up. Bengals are playing DAMN good and proved it 2 weeks in a row. The Bears are coming off one hell of a successful week and trying to sustain it. I'm extremely confident in Orton meanwhile. Not in perfection but success. Completely in the moment, without breathing too hard. He's just not one likely to have mental problems, it's all competition. But anyway, Palmer is just looking insane. Bears secondary will have a hard time with him. Need constant pressure on him and a tight secondary. All the while stopping the run is incredibly important. First thing is to make the other team one dimensional. Last week was just about playing. This week is about demanding that great play from the offense and defense. They're both gonna have to play GREAT. Initially the D has a huge assignment, but the D of the Bengals has just come off allowing 8 points. This could be an incredibly competitive match up if neither team let's the other get the ball rolling.

Other things, Jacksonville I mentioned looked tough week 1 going into week 2. After week 2 though, they're only looking tougher. There's impressive teams in my book, and competitive teams. 3 points isn't impressive but the way they played the Colts was extremely competitive. They will have a good record. New Orleans on the other hand are at a disadvantage and will have to get up for every week in a non-conventional way. They'll win some and lose some along the way. Vikings have got to win something though. They can't be that bad and I'm sure they're hungry to prove they're better than that. The Bengals just weren't the team to prove it against :lol But anyway, to finish up.. Steelers were gonna be my team to beat the Patriots first if Carolina hadn't. Now I just see the Patriots taking a beating while trying to find themselves. Bad luck for them. Steelers are playing GREAT. Oakland is not a bad 0-2 team. I thought they maaay win, but Philly is still a fundamentally sound team. They will eventually have problems though. Oh, and Seattle is always looked on to lose or fall off one season but I still think they're a pretty good team. A combo like Shaun Alexander and Matt Hasselback doesn't just dissapear. They dreally don't deserve to be dogged like I heard before the season. And next monday night, KC. They are looking impressive. I think them and Indy may have the defense/offense combo they've been looking for. Colts owe a big part of that to Dwight Freeney. I remember the combine, the draft, the predictions he may fall into the 30's.. Man did I want him bad, and when the Colts grabbed him at 11, I knew they grabbed a great player. I'm still suprised though. He's amazing. Will be really tough to handle for anyone. Scary.

:lol we'll see.... we have one bad game... Our D finally woke up last game second half, from here on no one should doubt what we can do

Best NFL thread title ever.

Anyone worrying about Eli next week should know he beat LSU at night in Tiger Stadium, as the Ole Miss QB, while being from Louisiana. Nothing those California hippies do between bites of fish taco will come close to the abuse he heard down there from those corn dog scented swamp people.

I love the level of thought you put into your post for your picks J2, but one thing surprised me. You have GB beating TB, a pick that is perhaps against the grain, but in all of that analysis you provide, you don't discuss that particular pick. I would have figured that a pick like that would have gotten a quick mention in your write up.

Sad for Eli fans that you have to hope and try to believe in him while we know we have our qb position filled for the next 12 years with Big Ben.

I know that feeling well.

I forgot to go back and edit my picks last week. :( I went through match up by match up and picked who I liked, but then I counted up and had 10 road teams winning :lol I meant to go back and switch a couple games, but I had a busy week and forgot.

So, week 1 9-7
week 2 6-10

damn cowgirls robbed me of being .500 for the year right at the end last night.

Sunday, Sep. 25th
Atlanta at Buffalo, 1:00 p.m.
Carolina at Miami, 1:00 p.m.
Cincinnati at Chicago, 1:00 p.m.
Cleveland at Indianapolis, 1:00 p.m.
Jacksonville at N.Y. Jets, 1:00 p.m.
New Orleans at Minnesota, 1:00 p.m.
Oakland at Philadelphia, 1:00 p.m.
Tampa Bay at Green Bay, 1:00 p.m.
Tennessee at St. Louis, 1:00 p.m.
Arizona at Seattle, 4:05 p.m.
Dallas at San Francisco, 4:05 p.m.
New England at Pittsburgh, 4:15 p.m.
N.Y. Giants at San Diego, 8:30 p.m.

Monday, Sep. 26th
Kansas City at Denver, 9:00 p.m.

I'll take ATL, from what we saw last week it's likely ATL's D will focus on stuffing McGahee and will probably be succesful. A low scoring game.. maybe later in the year I would have given the buffs the advantage. I'm sitting on the Jets at home partially because I'm not sure how badly Leftwich is hobbled. I'm *not* picking the Vikes again until they actually show me something. Rams normally look a lot better in the Dome.. some concerns about their defense backfield being really thin.

It's tough to pick the Pasties to lose two in a row, but hey.. it's the Steelers at home. Chargers need the win more and it's at home. I'm picking Denver because the Chiefs always lose at Mile High (Invesco blah blah), and picking against them last week worked :)

I hope we get to see part of the Cinci/Bears matchup in KC. Palmer has looked like he's the real deal, but this should be a good test. The bears won't likely let Rudi Johnson/Chris Perry run for 140-160 yards like they have been, and it may be on Palmers shoulders against a tough D on the road.

No... the point of the thread title was to get others to take note. How many third downs did Eli convert last night with his arm? Plenty.

I was just talking shit.

But there were times I thought he could have made a bigger play if he stood in the pocket and took the hit. Then again, they can't all be like Big Ben. :D

Well, he's not dead, so he'll be planning to start the game, at least. :)

Somebody needs to alert Steve McNair that he's gotta break his neck and keep playing or else he'll completely lose his title of toughest QB in the NFL.

Granted, he really started to lose it when Leftwich snapped his ankle and was carried by his linemen to complete a touchdown drive in college, and then when McNair missed most of last season, but he's still got history on his side!

You can do it, Steve!

For the record, in that game Byron's completion percentage, yards gained and QB rating were all better in the half that he played with a broken leg than Peyton Manning's were against the Jags in the whole game this week with both legs intact.

I'm actually starting to think that Injured Byron >>>> Healthy Byron usually. Maybe something about favoring one leg helps his throwing motion or the pain makes things clearer. Will be a good thrashing up in New York, I apologize in advance for this beating, Jets fans.:)

Atlanta's offence is pretty lackluster without Vick, I expect our defence to hold up well and hopefully our offence with rebound after the Tampa Bay embarrassment.
