It's $25 for the license wich is a one time only purchase. If we're 20 teams, it's $1.25 each. FHL is the best simulator there is and like I said, it's a one time purchase, we'll be able to run on it for years if we want to.

So far we're four!

Malakhov - Montreal
Dem - Edmonton
Drensh - Colorado
Tedesco - Leafs

The problem is... I dont think we have 20 hockey fans on this board. Nevermind 20 who will buck up even a dollar. Annnd.. all the hockey fans on GA are fans of like.. 5 teams.

Who cares if you dont get your team though, we'll be doing a fantasy draft. We'll see how much peeps we can get, if we can get at least 10-15 peeps I could chip in for the rest. That's how much I'd like a GAF FHL league.

Then we'd all rip off Mike and Bishop in trades ;)

Something tells me this won't work. People are so hungry for the real NHL season to start that I doubt we'll stay interested in this once the season starts. I hope it works out for you but I'm very skeptical.

Actually it works the other way. In all the leagues I'm in people lost interest since there was no hockey and now everyone is back in full force since hockey is starting again.

Only league that kept going pretty good that I'm in is the Ubisoft one.

Hey Kingpen, sent you a trade offer that I think will be mutually beneficial, assuming your willing to trade the guy I'm asking for. Counteroffer if you want.

They offer Datsyuk 5 fucking million and he says no. ARGH!!!

......well at least I didn't fantasy draft him. :lol

Calder, sent you a trade offer, last chance to get Iginla. Read my explanation in your email, I think the deal is fair.

Is Datsyuk really that important?

Ever since that Calgary/Detroit series, i've never thought highly of the guy. He was NOWHERE to be found in that series. Totally shut down.

Detroit will most likely make the playoffs again, maybe spend the money on a guy who can put the puck in the net in the Playoffs.

What's that mean? I can't find anything on it.
Argh, I fucked that up. I remembered reading earlier today around the time the Datsyuk story broke that Colorado had lost a player, and I thought it was Svatos. Turns out it was Riku Hahl, as I read this headline:

Riku Hahl signs with Davos, Switzerland

and the 'Davos' portion ingrained 'Svatos' in my head.

Datsyuk can somewhat back up a comparison to Heatley (although with Heatley being bigger, 3 years younger and having a better career offensive year to this point it's a comparable that might not last long) but mainly because Heatley lost a season and has questions about his future. But saying he should make as much or more than Thornton is just stupid.

Datsyuk has potential, but he hasn't done anything that's justified 6 mil. Jesus. Peter fucking Forsberg doesn't make that much, and Joe Sakic only makes a little more. Naslund, Iginla, and the rest of the elite don't make much more than six. And Datsyuk, who has talent, but has never done anything wants 5-6?

I wonder if Riku Hahl is still going to camp? He's on the new camp roster.

Damn,
P. Sykora, O.Kolzig, A.Zhamnov, R.Jackman all grabbed from waivers?

This roto league is getting easier for me to win....

You guys are asleep at teh wheel! J/K

Yeah.. Kolzig is going to get alot of wins in Washington :lol

AND PROPOSE A FAIR TRADE FOR SMYTH GOD DAMMIT

SMYTH FOR PALFFY IS NOT FAIR

getting a starting goalie as a bench goalie is always good. besides, Olie the Goalie will be dealt by the caps this season... they won't keep him and his bloated salary.

How about S.Sullivan for Pallfy? The stats don't lie

R.Smyth had better stats in every category then Pallfy in the last season. Sullivan is even better....

S.Sullivan always seems to be on the verge of becoming a great player but then he justs stops scoring every year.......

Still an exciting player to watch.

Palffy was hurt all year!@ Ofcourse Smyth had better stats... but per game its not even close.

2003 LA 35gp 16g 25a 41pts +18

2003 EDM 82gp 23g 36a 59pts +11

This isnt rocket science my dear. I offered you a hell of a deal.

:lol

True about Pallfy... LWs are harder to get in Fantasy Hockey then RWs though.... Hence the Smyth for Pallfy trade proposal

Shit, I could still go pick up Zherdov for a RW and still get good stats....

*Hint Hint to the rest of you guys.....

Yeah, but you wanted to gouge me from my best d-man in Kubina as well and give me a scrub in Boucher, who won't even play on the Stars PP with Zubov and Skoula on it full time..

That is why I backed away... My D-men are my weakness, I don't have that many of them...

I wouldn't pick up Kolzig in a 20-team league. Bad stats, bad team going nowhere, and he's 35 freaking years old and has been trending down in all categories for years. If he does get traded, the only teams that will want him are other shitty teams with cap room and young squads that need a veteran goalie to soak up some losses for a year or two.

This roto league is getting easier for me to win....

You guys are asleep at teh wheel! J/K
Says the man who not only drafted Owen Nolan and took a 18 year old rookie over guys like Sakic, Kovolchuk and Naslund but then took Back Spasm Belfour as his #1 goalie... in the third round! :lol :D

Still can't believe you turned down my offer for Fleury. You should be all over that guy!

Why the hell would I want Fleury when the kid will only play 20 games this year? That is why they went out and got T-Bo, to play 55 games for them. Sure, I got my Fleury jersey #29 in my closet, but I sure as hell am not picking him for a fantasy league until he gets the starting nod next year.

Yeah, i know Kolzig sucks, and so will the Crapitals but name another starting goalie that is available....

Sure, I drafted drunken Belfour, but I got Khabi as well.. that twosome is just as good as your Lehtonen, Luongo combo, if not better (and your trashing me on rookies- lol)....

and that 18 year old kid will be in the top 20 in scoring this year, and is the #1 center on the most offensively potent team in the league right now (paper stats wise)

Owen Nolan was a mistake, just as others drafting Datsuk and Morozov...

should be fun league with the smack already starting up....

After calming down from missing the draft.... I'm actually pretty happy with my team. It picked alot MY BOYS. Lecavalier, Lemieux, Pitkanen, Conklin, Holik, and my super homer pick... MA Bergeron. I dunno how it did that with the way my rankings were setup...

Whoa. This year (hell, most years), Luongo is definitely a better fantasy goalie than Khabi unless the Hawks have some sort of miracle revival. And Belfour is just about the riskiest starter around, and his team is set to take a pretty good step backwards. I'll take the highly touted rookie goalie who's been destroying the AHL for the last 2 years over him any day of the week, especially since he'll be the starter in Atlanta unless he shits his pants in training camp.

No doubt about that. :)

But do you really think Crosby will be a first line center this year? I'm not just saying this to tease you about your pick, but it's been over a *decade* since an 18 year old had a dominant entry into the NHL. Older rookies can have very solid seasons, but to expect huge numbers is a bit premature. I'd be impressed if he has as good a rookie season as Rick Nash, simply because Nash was so big and strong he was ready for the NHL even when he was a 17 year old and Nash finished 155th overall in scoring his rookie year. There's no doubt Crosby is ready to take the next step talent and offense-wise, but I think he'll need more time to get used to the physical side than Nash did.

Crosby is the only legitimate center the pens have. Mario favors left wing, and has played that for the past 3 years. Malkin was going to come over and they were going to use him and Crosby as 1-2 centers, but he didn't. The only other center they had in Milan Kraft (slow developer) signed in the Russian super league.

Nash is a great young stud, but he isn't comparable to Crosby. Nash wasn't even a consensus #1 pick in his draft year (Him, Boumeester and Letonen could have swapped spots interchangibly)

The drafting of Nash didn't sell tons of season ticket packages like Crosby has. The Pens will be the hardest ticket to get in the league this year.

Nash didn't have anyone worth a damn to play on a line with.

Nash didn't have one of the top 2 players in the history of the NHL playing on a line/ pp with him (and that doesn't even include the other guys in Pallfy, Recchi and Leclair)

And quite frankly why the comparison isn't valid is simply put...

Nash didn't appear on The Tonight Show and shoot pucks in a dryer. :lol

Name the last NHL player to appear on a late show - You have to go back to Gretzky. Sure the hype is very large for this kid, but with all the guns he is playing with, and considering the fact he is a recognized gun himself, he should easily put up 100+ points this year, in the new rules NHL.

I may be a jaded pens fan that is in shell-shock because of the way the team pulled a 180, but it for damn sure is going to be a very fun season to watch.

Hey Calder, I know I said last chance but that was when I thought I was getting Khabi from Kingpen so I no longer needed a goalie. Anyway, I offered you a trade you said would be acceptable.

Crosby will not put up 100 points. If youre expecting that... youre expecting too much.

I think a good year for Crosby would be ~60 points.

The new rules will help scoring.. but theyre not going to double it.

You'll see.....

Rico Fucking Fata could get 60 points playing on a top line with Mario and Pallfy/Recchi...

Remember Rob Brown. He had 50 goals and close to a 100 point season by doing the same thing. And he was a scrubby player pretty much.

Imagine someone with talent like what Crosby supposidely possesses.

Scott Stevens is sitting out the season. He ought to just hang it up. That wicked concussion he got from that puck to the ear is probably still ringing hard in his head.

Consider the Devils out of the mix for top defensive teams now...

Haha, yeah, and that's the other thing, how many games do you *really* think Lemieux is going to play? I thought dem picking Mario first overall was risky as hell (I had him ranked like 20th on my list), I just can't believe he'll play more than 45 games. I wouldn't be surprised if he plays like 30 or less - he's basically not retired only to keep the team out of the bankruptcy it was facing a couple of years ago. I have no doubt he's excited about playing again with the better team and Crosby and so on but he's still as fragile a pro athlete as you'll find. If the rule changes do work I can see him getting 1.5 ppg again easy, but I still doubt he'll play enough to get more than 70ish pts. Now that Crosby is the main draw expect Mario to take the night off on pretty much every western conference road game. ;)

I'll predict 50-60 pts for Crosby, a very nice total for an 18 year old, with around 15 goals.

Believe me.. I wouldnt have taken Mario first overall if I was there :lol
About as boom or bust as it gets.

according to the claims of some Swedish newspaper (sorry no link) Zetterberg is demanding a deal similar to Rick Nash's.

Added bonus mindfuck to Datsyuk's demands is the fact he insisted they must also sign Zetts to keep him. Alas, demanding a salary of more than 5mil a season makes it IMPOSSIBLE TO SIGN ZETTERBERG AT MARKET VALUE.
I wish we had some Wings fans on the board right about now :D

Mario should have never retired at 31 like he did in 97... Now that he has a legitimate team around him and the hope that the league will actually call penalties against clutching a grabbing... He will flurish. Sure he was banged up the last season, but that was 2 years ago that he went down injured pretty much. He also sat out the season after the Canada cup because he probably didn't want to play with Brian Holzinger and Rico Fata on the top line. :lol

I'll gladly take Mario off your hands Dem if your so put off with drafting him. Make me an offer. :)
