Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Nice to see the Wings put it together tonight. Jason Williams looks like he's fitting right back in on the power play. Can't wait until Zetterberg gets back.

How do the Wings lose twice in a row to the Leafs and then play a third straight night and beat the Pens?

The Pens also lost twice to the Leafs. Therefore simple maths would say Leafs > Wings > Pens. Cup Confirmed!

You should apply this formula to all 30 teams and then reverse it, so we can just bypass the regular season and see what the playoff matches are going to be.

Pens won a single game during the pre-season, out of six. That suuuucks and doesn't fill me with confidence heading into the regular campaign. No hangover, please.

for

Ovechkin
C. Price

2.

Chris Osgood
Mike Richards
Ryan Smyth
Phil Kessel

for

Luongo
Gustavsson

Thank You guys

i would definitely trade Semin for Ovechkin, Kunitz, Zajac, Craig Anderson, and C. Price

as for your second trade, i'm a little tentative... I mean Luongo, Mike Richards, Gustavsson, Ryan Smyth, and Phil Kessel seem like good return, but Osgood has more cup rings than all of them combined. i know it's a regular season pool, but i'd say stick with experience and stay away from that one.

How many people are you playing with lordog? Looks like you have a freaking allstar team right there.

Anyway I wouldn't do either trade as I don't see much benefit for you looking at your roster.

Just had the draft for my work's team. Eight GMs, so a fairly deep roster. Scoring didn't favour goalies as much so I took mine in rounds seven and eight. Also, everyone was taking defensemen way too early (according to my spreadsheets), so I took Gonch in round nine, and my next D was Kronwall in 16. Overall I'm pretty happy with my team.

Centre
Ryan Getzlaf
Jeff Carter
Jonathan Toews
Henrik Sedin
Left Wing
Dany Heatley
Simon Gagne
Alexander Frolov
Slava Kozlov
Right Wing
Patrick Kane
Phil Kessel
Ales Hemsky
Jason Pominville
Defense
Sergei Gonchar
Niklas Kronwall
Ryan Whitney
Joe Corvo
Marc-Edouard Vlasic
Goalies
Steve Mason
Ryan Miller
Bench
Drew Stafford
J.P. Dumont
Cristobal Huet

So how confident is Ron Wilson in starting Toskala come Thursday night?

he is starting toskala

he said "we played bad in front of vesa"

no, ron. vesa didn't make the saves for the lapses in defense.

17 saves, 7 goals... we do need to expect our goalies to stop the pucks. Vesa has been by far our worst goaltender this preseason - even reimer made some saves

Didn't see the game but this is the perfect ending to preseason for the Leafs. Get Ron Wlson and Double-B pissed off right before game 1 against the Habs. There will be a much stronger looking team out there in game 1, poor Habs are gonna feel the wrath lol. Yes even Toskala will bounce back, it WAS only preseason after all. Leafs got the stinker out of their system.

Just so you know Mike, I'm the person trading Semin, Kunitz, Zajac for Ovechkin and Carey Price.

Mind you I have Stamkos and Zajac benched. So I feel it would be a great trade for him.

:D

You might get really lucky.

Oh yeah, I know.

My entire team can fall into place IF...

1) Mike Smith owns

and

2) Toskala sucks

So here's to hoping! Leclaire was on the board when I picked Smith AND Gustavsson but I didn't want someone with career injury problems.

we all got a nice laugh when zherdev went to you alex. but the bogosian pick was pretty impressive by the autodraft!
WTF, i didnt even think about that, how can he even be on the draft?

Poccaco: I actually dont think that i can blame that pick on the autodraft, When i first logged in i messed around with the early rankings. Bäckström, Kane, Lidström and Havlat may not have been the best picks, but without a doubt the guys i wanted on my team;) Looking at the draft results again, i probarbly would have picked Iggy if i only were going for a win.

It is really the semi-late rounds that are interestering i definantly wouldnt have picked Ryan Smith and Huselius before Danny Briere and Dustin Brown.

Really! I love the guy.
I even like it when he rants about the Canadians fighting oversea or about some sick kid that has died. It's great. Somebody needs to remind Canadians about the important things going on in the country and about feel-good stories. He has like a 5 minute segment that's on for once a week. Come on guys :p
Fair point. But I'll explain where I'm coming from. 5 min a week is too much; a person like Cherry shouldn't have a soapbox. Not to mention, that soapbox is incredibly important to Canadian culture given that he speaks between periods on Hockey Night in Canada. For every segment that may stir tepid Canadian nationalism, as you seem to like, he'll give us plenty of ignorance, plenty of narcissism, and general loud-mouthed bullshit that no one needs to hear. I suppose the problem is that we WANT to hear it - he has history on his side (so firmly attached to hockey culture) and can be pretty fascinating to watch. For me, he's just an obnoxious douche-bag like so many out there, but one that has Canada's ear.

Don Cherry is one entertaining motherfucker. As long as people take what he says with a grain of salt, then I don't see the issue. Sure he goes a bit overboard with some of the business he says (IE: Women at hockey games, National bias for 'good ol canadian boys' etc) but that's just a part of the entertaining package that he is. You don't need to agree with him, just see the funny side.

I actually look forward to watching him on TV in Vancouver next year as opposed to the random segments I get from HNIC torrents.

Probably the most excited I've been about a season since the 90s. I'm not entirely confident the team will be great, but at least it's going to be quite different from past years.

Go Habs!

I was looking over what is probably gonna be our final roster on HFBoards today. It's looking really good. Our offensive lines have really come along nicely. Defense is what I'm a bit worried about. We got 4 really good defensemen but our 5th and 6th are looking weak. Nabby is as unpredictable as ever. Hopefully he isn't injured again like last season.

I wouldn't even bother trying to predict anything to do with the Sharks. For the first half of the season last year, they looked like the Harlem Globetrotters of the NHL.

Cover of the ESPN mag NHL preview issue. I'm amazed ESPN is even discussing the NHL, let alone devoting a cover of its magazine to it. Toews' face is hilarious though. I wonder what he's so pissed about. :lol
