another quick question: once you're in the SMS/GG proggy, anyone else get a garbage looking list if they scroll up or down the game selector? with me, the list scrolls up or down in an effect that I can only describe as the same thing that happens when you look at an untextured wall in Doom (or use noclip to walk outside)

er...lemme see if this helps for those who don't know what the hell I am talking about now....moving up or down the list doesn't get rid of the old options..and after a quater of a second, it's impossible to read anything

Yeah I'm getting that too with the file listing. Looks like the screen isn't clearing itself when you scroll down. I'm sure the author knows about it as this is a pretty huge bug.

I bought my 1GB Sandisk from eBay. I thought mine messed up a few weeks ago (turned out it was the reader). Emailed Sandisk support and they sent me an RMA number and an address to send the card back to. Even though there was no receipt or anything :)

sweet thanks, im emailing them now.

death to the swaploit! :(

So is it confirmed that all UMD games from here on out make you upgrade your firmware? I'm looking forward to MC3 coming out next week but if it's going to force me to update I may wait until there's a way around it.

no zip support, but wow, it sure does work good, and with sound!

Yeah, I'm really impressed compared to the other Genny emus. But I guess the only game I've played it Gunstar Heroes... but it works good and with sound!! The options and menus are kinda screwy but should be awesome in a release or two.

well i tried the genny emu was playing sonic for a while...that was all good. then went to play chrono trigger again for a while, worked fine. then saved, restarted psp and bam, dead memstick, wont read on anything. shit cost me 220 AU aswell :( oh well psp is a paperweight to me again i guess.

Your memory card isn't dead. 2 pages back I had my 256 meg sanDisk do the same. Simply start up the PSP, go into the system settings and format your memory stick. You lose everything on your card, but it goes back to being functional again. No need to get a new card.

Impressions? Options? GIMMIE
impressions: not as good as PSPGenesis in any way, but still better than the others by far

sound is good

crashed on sonic 1

gfx glitches in games that dont gitch on PSPGen

good for a first release tho

Not bad,I dunno to me its a tad slower the emulator I use( MDP.021) over at psphacker.com I've got the cpu jacked to 333 mhz.,screen isn't full screen,no option to change it. Sound is pretty good, though scratchy, even turned off theres not a real improvement in speed for me. Frameskip is there to mess with, and yes a few games are buggy sucjh as enemies in Eswat where can't be seen at times, just their gunfire. Games i tried successfully-AfterBurner,Mickey Mouse Castle of Illusion,I'll try more in abit. I've got a ton of roms loaded so I'l try it some more.

Uh oh,before typing this post I put the game paused and into sleep mode, now it won't start when I resume. EEEEK:/

Stay away from this emulator. Tried it again and it crashes when you put it into sleep mode, both times it happened to me at the rom select screen and in game. Also the emu will not scroll down past what you see for roms on your screen. Youre confined to these only other other roms cannot be chosen because you cannot scroll down in your roms list.

i tried a couple roms on that psp genesis emulator and it crashed two times. i think i'll wait till the new versions come out. i had to take out the psp battery once just to get out of the emulator

its dead. it says "memory card is not inserted" when i try to format it in my pc OR psp.

So....any update on the 1.51 exploit? Is there gonna be one? When are we gonna be done with this swap nonsense? From reading these stories it seems a lil dangerous.

Don't feel like reading through all these pages so can someone just tip me off here-which version of the emulator is best for SNES9X?

I see Snes9X V0.03a(Official)

and

the previous version which is SNES9X V0.02y11

I remember a few some people saying that one of these didn't recognize new or older roms, someting like that.

Which is best?

Unofficial seems to have a couple more tweaking options, but V0.03a supports a couple more games (Shadowrun!) that I'm currently playing.

So it was the reader? Damn, gotta try that one before attempting suicide

oh shit, a friend on mine on msn, messaged me saying the same problem as me with a 512 MS pro duo, i wasnt online at the time and came back to see his message and he was offline. this shit is risky, im not pushing a "dont do it" on ya'l, but its definetly one of those "it wont happen to me" things until it does. if you can get a replacement 1gb/512 stick then its all good i guess

Wow i just got Doom and Doom2 running on this and i must say it is simply amazing. I remember playing this game way back and playing it on psp is so much fun. I definetly recommend this to anyone who every played these games. They run very well too but no full screen mode. Anyone else play them yet?

And right on cue I just had a little scare a few minutes ago. After a swap I got the gray screen and an error message and my PSP stopped reading both the 1gig and 32mb cards. So I turned it completely off for a few minutes, and stood there in a cold sweat praying nothing was wrong. I turned the PSP back on and both cards worked again and everything in them was still intact.

Nearly shat a brick cause of that so no swap for me anymore.

donno if this has been answered before...

whenever i try to run the PSPGenesis, after the swap, my psp will freeze at the white screen with the word "PSP" on it... and then it will shut down... did i miss something to run the PSPGenesis? i used the same way to run the NesterJ and it worked without any problem...

you have my thanks in advance!

Sounds like there is something wrong with your eboot file on MS2. Try to make a new copy to it and see what happens.

That happened to me as well - make sure you're using the latest version of MSwap.

If you're still having problems (this is how I solved it), use PBP Unpacker to extract DATA.PSP from the original EBOOT.PBP for PSPGenesis, that is, the one that's sitting in the \PSPGenesis, not the one created by MSwap. Then take that DATA.PSP, rename it EBOOT.PBP and sitck it on Memory Stick 2 in the \PSPGenesis folder.

Thanks a lot, BuddyC! The problem was solved!!!

yeah i think its only a matter of time before it starts happening to a lot of others, i mean u can do it 30 times with no worries and that 31st time you can lose. not worth it imo. il wait for a better 1.5 solution

SNES9X is still hella slow, so I guess I'll be waiting (and hoping) for a faster release soon. I mainly want it to play Dragon Quest VI, but right now it runs at like 8 fps, which isn't gonna cut it. How often are new releases turning up?

How are the other emus right now? I saw the PCE one is pretty good, but most of the PCE games I want to play are on CD. How about the Genesis and NES emus? And GB?

The emu I use is MegaDrive version .022. The speed is around 85-90%,no sound in the version,I can't get any of the Gens emulators to run, maybe someone else can chime in on those? Btw-theres also no save stating in the one I'm using which sucks.

As a huge Sega/Genny fan version MegaDrive V.022 is good but I expect more from an emulator. I'm sure it will get better as time gos on. Don't get me wrong its very playable, but compared to the tweak setting and full screen playability of the SNES 9X emu,it makes me want more. Also theres no full screen in the version I'm using. Somewhere between 1-2 pages back someone posted a link to a new Genny emulator (PSPGenesis v0.11) but its not too great. It crashes if you put it in sleep mode,I tried 4 games,2 were abit buggy, its speed was actually a tad slower than the emu I'm using.

If you can't get the latest to those Gens emus to run for you(I couldn't) then version MegaDrive .022 is pretty good anyway. Most all the games play at a pretty darn good speed.

The latest PCE and Genesis emulators are pretty good. They don't run a a good amount of the the games I want to play such as Double Dragon and Street Fighter II though. The latest Genesis one (PSPGenesis) has a lot of potential. It just needs some options like NesterJ has. NesterJ is pretty awesome. Some of the games with a lot of scrolling are nearly unplayable though. Super Mario Bros and Ninja Gaiden 2 for example. In SMB the upcoming part of the level is always being showed right behind you which is pretty confusing.

yes snes9x is slow, i am playing Chronotrigger at the moment and it runs at about 48FPS

so its ok

but Zelda a link to the past runs at a slow 27FPS i can get it up to 45 with tranparency off but then i wont see the ground i am running on with link.

NES emu works great i dont get any frame dropping at all, runs a 100 % on my PSP

Oni Link 666
i do not have any problems playing SMB in Nesterj, it runs at 100%

i havent tried GB emu nor PCE yet

Give the scene a couple of months...333 Mhz and a VFPU that's way better than the MMX should be enough to get the results.
I played SNES/MD emus on a P1 233 MMX in a pretty decent way...with sound and at full screen :P

FYI the official PSP Dev Kit Libraries have been leaked on the net. It's illegal to get but it's probably gonna help homebrew software dev.

Bah, then the homebrew stuff itself will be illegal, ala Xbox.

That only a problem during the rain.

The only people who this is going to help is the pirates, who won't really care if their warez loader code is legal or not. Real homebrew people will not touch this with a barge pole, as making use of knowledge gained from it would render their whole program illegal.

Looking at the "illegal" Xbox homebrew scene, the libraries will be put to good use.

I think the definition of illegal here is very different from warez.

Never stopped the XBMC team, or craploads of other Xbox homebrew devs. The leak of those official devkits actually helped Xbox homebrew scene expand like crazy.

What? That can't be. Even the most graphically demanding games, like DKC, run smoothly if you fiddle with setting just a bit - even with sound enabled, if you don't stretch the screen and disable transparency.
