so playing a Snes game on PSP and when your done you pause the game and put your PSP in sleep mode does that hurt the MS?

I do that and I haven't had a problem yet.

Damn, I got the corrupted data error using this. These cards are too expensive to risk frying them...guess I'm waiting for the one card solution again.

for some reason, the pics don't load if i switch between 2 images on the PSP. i guess the PSP doesn't have memory to load them up? if i switch to a month with a default BMP, then go to the other pic, it'll load. otherwise, it'll just show up a white screen
Yes, I noticed that too. I am assuming because te BMP files we use are over 100K(well, mine are), that the PSP has trouble loading them so quickly after we change the date. Holding the power switch for a couple of secs to reset the PSP solves that problem though. Also, the BMP files that the PSP uses are like under 4K each and are super tiny. The PSP has no problem reading those really quick. I assume a updated version of this personalizer will be released soon along with a way to get rid of those moving lines.

Masterfully played sir.

That was because of a shoddily designed "Do you want to load your save game?" prompt that came up after finishing a round that had been in sleep mode, not because of any intrinsic flaw with the PSP, memory stick or sleep mode. Say yes and you'd lose the score from the last round, say no and it would then ask if you wanted to save your game. Screwed a lot of people up the first few times they saw it.

oh fuck, i had better not have lost my new top score i got last night :(

Be very, very careful here amigo. I'd refer you to the "LIST CLASSIC GAMES BEACUSE THE 1.50 EXPLOIT JUST HIT" thread that's likewise skating close to the edge, but I can't seem to find it.

where's this store at? i want some of that hot $5 turbo grafx 16 action

its here in malta! so if your not in malta you wont be able to buy any, and besides Red only sells to clients that he calls friends and can get drunk with. he is strange in that way.

Just stop before that grave gets any deeper.

edit: Oh, nevermind. Here's a hint for future reference: Don't spam the forum with PMs asking for ROMs. It's so totally against the TOS and it makes you go away for a very long time. And I already warned you once about asking where to find ROMs.

Wow that was sad... *cue crying purple thing, etc*

I don't think he really fully understood the consequences of his actions but well, rules are rules and he'll be learning the hard way. :(

I don't think it has any zoom/rotate features. But it's perfect for manga, provided you have it resized to the PSP's resolution width.

PSP-DEV now claims to have a direct loader. Say goodbye to swapping.

Several days ago we released the swaploit (15-Jun) , some of sceners got satisfied but some of you tell us to do it better.
Today we are proud to announce that in a few days you will get a new hit from Killer-X and PsP-Dev Team...
They claim it's a legit, seemingly no-swap exploit for 1.5. PSP Hacker has picked up the story.

Nice. Release date 22.6.2005, 1200 GMT!

god at last. I was getting sick and nervous every time I loaded new stuff on the stick, did the swap trick just to see some stuff getting corrupted in the process.

The big question is how it's done. Have they patched the firmware in some way (in vogue with the new background changer and different boot animations) or did they figure out why the swap worked and recreated the exploit with one card AND WITHOUT SWAPPING?

Then again I'm just happy it works - knowing how would just be an extra.

As much as I want this to be true, he could have replaced memory sticks, and it would be impossible to see that with the camera angle in that video.

The second part of the video pulls out to show that the Memory Stick isn't swapped.

Btw. - the topic could be changed to include the non-swapping part?

I'm so happy I'll just leave office right now :)

Finally! Playing NES-games on the move was a bit problematic with the swapping. Praise the hackers! :)

Marconelly: Come on, you knew it was gonna happen sooner or later.

True. I stopped watching the video before that part, thinking that was the end of it, and he'd just be playing/changing the games.

It does look rather convincing.

I predict that this will turn out just to be some sort of ELF launcher that you will still have to use the swaploit to run. It'll reduce the amount of swapping needed, to be sure, but it won't eliminate it entirely. Also the fact that PSP Hacker picked up the story is like the kiss of death IMO. I'll be happy to be proved wrong though. Be nice if they could make it work on 1.51 as well.

You mean you load the launcher with the swap method, and from there you can launch any emu you want as many times you want until you reboot/crash the PSP, and then you have to redo the swapping? Well better than nothing I guess.

Yes, that's pretty much what I was thinking of.

but they launched it from the PSP home screen. both times, including the zoomed out view.

Well, we've seen them "strategically edit" videos before - the original videos didn't contain any sign of memory stick swapping, if you remember. I find it interesting that they turned the lights on halfway through the new video - why not take the whole video with the lights on?

They said they had found an exploit for the 1.50 PSPs, they delivered.
They are now saying they've found a non-swap method and that they will release it tomorrow. They'll deliver. Give them some credit, dudes.

Danj plays the devil's advocate here. But I can't see any signs of editing so I'm tempted to call this a real miracle.

The only cheat I could imagine happening here is that you'd need one swap (they do it in the dark on the first load) and after that you can run the code from the home menu as many times as you want.

But I'd say that the simplest explanation is that the "Direct Loader" is truly a non-swap loader. That would seem to be the option Occam's Razor would favor: both from programming/hacking perspective and regarding the good reputation of PSP-Dev as they wouldn't want to risk it.

Well, we'll know in just 18 hours or so...

If this does end up being a firmware hack, I hope they provide a way to unhack it as well. Otherwise, I'll stick with swapping.

But, if it is a firmware hack, that bodes very very well for a solution for 1.51+ users, which I will eventually become as soon as games that I want require it.

Oh oh oh hurry up tomorrow, I want to know.
