England and Canada for me

Ditto

As I said in the football thread, I don't mind watching rugby but I don't follow it that closely, so a world cup is perfect for me. I won't be saying "we won" if England win as that annoys me so much when people who don't follow football latch onto the national team when it's doing well, nowhere to be seen during the bad times, but I'll support them.

Not that I'll see the England game as it's cleverly been timed to clash with England - Israel in the football. That'll help get this football obsessed nation interested in other sports.

Opening ceremony should be starting soon, then it's France/Argentina. Home side is obviously the favs, but I think the Puma's can surprise this tournament.

PS: Go the Wallabies!

:lol @ Bundy Rum ad!

Unleash the Beast!

In unrelated news, check out this insane conversion kick from NZ's Dan Carter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_NaCrcl4do :O

Damnit. Already missing the first half of france Argentina. Gonna miss some of USA England tomorrow because I have to play a rugby game myself. What crap!!

I dunno, Argentina are pretty damn good and underrated. They really pushed the All Blacks last year.
*Takes bow*

Great game, Argies were awesome on defense. Would've been a hiding if they'd kicked all their goals and a couple of those droppies went over too.

While conversely the French would have won if they had kicked all their goals and started with a decent halfback and first-five.

Spreadbury had no control of the game as was letting the Argies get away with murder at the breakdown. In particular with hands in the rucks and going straight off their feet, although the French didn't really help themselves there by not committing smartly to the rucks and taking out the opposing players.

Couldn't believe I wanted the Argies to win, but then found myself cursing at such an idea. Hopefully Ireland knocks off the French as well.

The French only missed one penalty didn't they? Argies missed 2 and a conversion, and about 6 drop-goal attempts. Yeah it's irrelevant, but the Argies outplayed them all throughout.

Edit: Maybe they missed 2 actually, bah who cares.

Hello, hello.

Its sad being in Boston when everyone is in France. Yet, nothing a pint and an Irish breakfast won’t fix tomorrow while watching France/Argentina.

Also, for those interested OLN will be playing a number of matches including all of those that the Eagles play.
OLN as in Versus? Oh my! COME ON EAGLES!!!!

Just noticed the All Blacks beating Italy 76-14. Uhhhh what's the point of anyone playing their A team against them?

Yeah it's a bit silly at times with the whole lop-sided teams. Japan are defending ok against Australia so far, especially considering that most of their top players are resting for the match against Fiji.

Yeah I bought the supporters pass to watch all USA matches and I'm just hoping they dont set a record for largest loss against England. I'm hoping for wins against Samoa and Tonga.

Apparently Mike Cron, the All Blacks scrum doctor, did some work with the USA team recently. I doubt they'll get past Samoa, but should beat Tonga.

The ABs Italy match was helter skelter stuff. After less than 20mins they'd already run in 5 tries and started throwing the ball around a bit too much after that. It was quite frustrating to watch as you couldn't take much out of how well they're really going. And with games against Portugal B and Scotland B and Romania to come it won't exactly give any further indication.

The biggest problem with the Rugby World Cup is definitely the difference between the top sides and lower sides. People complain about the tournament going from 16 to 20 teams, but even with 16 teams not all of them will be competitive either.

Australia flogging Japan. No surprises I guess but they're playing very disciplined which is a good sign - not letting the gigantic score get to their heads. Haven't seen Australia play this fluid and controlled since the '99 World Cup and they only let 1 try in on the way to win the Final :lol

91-3 end score for Australia vs Japan. Wallabies play the Welsh in the next game at Cardiff so that will be a very entertaining match.

Aye I want to see the English choke :lol Was going to head to bed but I'll leave the TV on for a bit.

The game was basically forceback with all the kicking. How France didn't capitalise on that I don't know, especially since Argentina kept it kicking away possession in the last 15mins when the French desperately needed to score a try.

Really bad referee in the England vs USA game. Playing 30-60 second advantages, gave England a penalty when their captain has blatantly, illegally, and cynically tripped player from the USA who had a good chance to score a try. They even replayed the trip on the big screen in the stadium and the ref still did nothing!

28-10 England full time. Definitely happy about that result. I was expecting it to be closer to the Australia-Japan match.

Final score, England 28 - 10 USA

Happy to see the Eagles hold England to a respectable scoreline. England really need to buck up for the SA match if they are to avoid being embarassed

Refs aren't allowed to make a decision like that based on the replays. It's up to their touch judges to help them out.
Beside that Kaplan is probably the top ref in the game at the moment. Although there have been some nutters coming out already saying he didn't penalise him because now he will get cited (harder to get cited if the appropriate action was taken care by the ref on the field) and ruled out of the SA/ENG match.

Great show from the Eagles. Springboks are going to destroy England.

Good to see the team improving. Hopefully Canada goes well too. Anything to bridge the gulf between the top sides and the rest is a very welcome thing.

Wales 9 - Canada 12 @ halftime.
Wow, the Welsh were suppose to be the Wallabies biggest threat in our group.

Edit
Try-time Canada... 9-17! :lol

Wales is screwed..
Jenkins for the sack right now. Wales haven't been the same since Mike Ruddock left.

As soon as the substitutions were made, Wales picked up their game and comfortably won that... Whilst Hook is a pretty damn good kicker, he doesn't complete the side and break the line with his kicks like Stephen Jones does, so I'm glad he's match fit otherwise we'd have shamefully lost today's game. And if any of you think Jenkins is an idiot and a worthless coach like I do, then you'll love this YouTube video.

And so far, none of the other results bar the French mishap seem to go against what I thought would happen; I'm not expecting many upsets in the future either, with most of the Northern Hemisphere nations going out in the quarters, with New Zealand or Australia winning it.

ahh Samoa, they tried so hard there :(

held off south africa well at the start, then just before half time with their disallowed try and south africa getting one it all fell apart. poor kids.

Complete underestimation of the Canadian side. Canada will be a contender within a decade.
What are the chances we get that Tri-Nations between us, the Canadians, and the Argentines? I'm tired of watching gridiron.
