This is pretty much it for me. this has to be the best show ive ever seen, not just animated either. whoever thought of putting Hip-hop with feudal japan is a pure genius. he should get a nobel prize

Wrong season though, you're like half a year too late to be pimping Champloo in this thread. :lol

Ok so far my current season impressions:

#1 - Eureka Seven
#2 - Honey and Clover
#3 - Kamichu

Most consistantly entertaining bad show - Speed Grapher

Most disappointing good show - Gun x Sword

Of the currently running series, my current favorites are Aquarion, Snow Queen, and Eureka 7/Zoids Genesis in the top 3 spots although a few of them are ending soon. Gun X Sword is pretty fun though.

I would be digging Snow Queen, but there's only one subbed episode. :(

I agree completely about Snow Queen. Why is it that the shows I like the most end up taking forever to get subbed. :( Some even to the point of waiting well over 6 months for an episode.

Ok, I'll do mine.

#1 - Eureka Seven
#2 - Gun x Sword (would've been number #3 but ep5-8 have been really fun)
#3 - Honey & Clover (would've been number #2 but ep14-18 haven't been as good as 1-13)

Most consistantly entertaining horrible show - Gundam SEED Destiny

Most boring as hell, can't get through an ep without following asleep decent show - Kamichu

Biggest surprise - Tideline Blue

Yep, meanwhile shows that are 100% guaranteed to be brought over within a year are being subbed by 10 different groups (guess which show i'm talking about :P)

I like Tide-Line blue but it's still too early for me to tell if turns out good.

Yeah, I wouldn't call it great or anything yet; but just like Fantastic Children it's a show that I was expecting to be just an average generic piece I would dismiss after one ep, but it turned out to be a pretty well made show and almost like a new Nadia :)

Yeah, that's pretty much my top 3 of the year. It's also starting to look like, barring any surprises in the Fall, that my top 3 at the end of the year will be exactly the same as it has been basically since Kamichu debuted.

I dunno what happened to that group that's scanslating the ai baby manga. =\

But my Top 3 summer anime is easily...

1. Eureka 7
2. Honey and Clover
3. FMP:2nd, Aquarion

And look, we are almost into fall season. Summer 05 Anime Season is just DRY. I hope the upcoming season delivers.

I'm only watching Honey & Clover, Ichigo Mashimaro, and Gokujou Seitokai at this point. Too busy to be following anything else. I did get all of Gundam Seed Destiny (at least of the eps released) but didn't watch more than 7 or 8 episodes. Backburner that one goes.

Something called Shadow OAV 1 has just been released. It rocked by boxors! :) Great characters, story, animation, lots of gore and even some boobies 'n' sex (all 5 seconds cencored ofcourse). I'll be watching this one.

That looks interesting. Know anything about the story?

And apparently there's a live action Honey and Clover movie in the works.......

Synopsis:
"One day during the spring break, Haruka saw a man in blue shining snow on the roof of the church. He was Karasu came from a 15-year-later world, “Dimension Lacrima”. Karasu was a Dragon Knight of the country. Actually, he was Haruka’s childhood friend, Yu, and he appeared in front of her with the grownup figure.

15 years later, severe war had continued between Dimension Lacrima and Dimension Shangria. Lacrima was trying to save the world by the high technologies, while Shangria was trying to demolish the whole dimensions. Before the overwhelming power of Shangria, Lacrima was helpless. The only hope to resist Shangria is “Torque of the Dragon”. The command noticed that, and they sent Dragon Knights including Karasu to the world 15 years before.

Meanwhile, Haruka encouraged him to run away from home seeing him depressed. In front of them, Karasu reappeared in blue lighting snow. At the moment, HarukaÂ’s neck began to shine blue."

It sounds interesting, however, the real deal here is the stylish animation it should have. Just check the broadband trailer in the first link. (2nd Orange Button)

Eureka Seven ep20 = wow........... erm.......... wow. Evangeliowned total. :D

(Oh and Bones are being fuckers again, just like with FMA ep50, there's no preview for ep21 after this one. ^^;;)

Having read a synopsis of 20 and prior episodes, i'm beggining to seriously regret not watching the raws and waiting for subs. Anything would be better than this unbearable wait ;_;

Ep20 of Eureka was good like always but ummm, I didn't see any OMGWTF factor. It was just good drama like the previous eps but with more action this time around. End part was a tad cliche though :\

That's because you love ToL and you hate Kamichu. I think you're beyond cure, actually living in Japan has destroyed any hope of you having decent taste again. :(

Takemoto's actor looks like a girl :lol

I like H&C so much I might actually check this out. (Been real hesitant to get into J-drama cos I already have enough stuff to watch with anime :o)

So like I was looking around at the staff info for Gun x Sword as some of the eps lately have been pretty good and this weeks' kept me smiling. And I noticed that Gun x Sword really isn't a Goro Taniguchi show at all. He's barely done anything on any of the eps.

Here is his involvement so far:
ep1 - storyboard aka. direct
ep2 - storyboard aka. direct
ep3 - co-storyboard
ep4 - nothing
ep5 - one of 3 people on storyboards
ep6 - nothing
ep7 - nothing
ep8 - co-storyboard
ep9 - nothing
ep10 - nothing
ep11 - co-storyboard
ep12 - nothing
ep13 - nothing
ep14 - nothing
ep15 - nothing

So he basically did the first two eps and then gave it to other staff to make the show while he threw some ideas in here and there. :\ Yeah, I can't really call this a Goro show at all in good faith and unless he directs most of 16-26 I don't think it should really go on his bio.

Despite that I think the quality is still pretty good so at least Goro picks his staff well. Kushiro Lion who did ep4 (river/cave ep) and this weeks ep10 definitely knows what he's doing and is talented. The other guy, Eiji Shu who seems to do most of the eps is decent but his best eps are the ones with Goro co-storyboarding, so I don't think the guy can really handle the show on his own. But it seems like most of the upcoming eps are still just Eiji on his own so yeah...I dunno the show is good, but the best director seems to have left at the start, and this other talented guy only shows up once every 5-6 eps; so Gun x Sword is kinda doomed to be good entertainment but never reach the really high quality of a real Goro show.

Still it's probably the most enjoyable show I watch weekly mainly because the cast is very likeable :)

Hmmm,

Also, I'm up to episode 20 of Hunter X Hunter now, and man do I love this series. It deeply saddens me to think that at some point something so great is going to turn so bad. :(

AIR summer special (first half) and movie are out at Suki. I've only watched the summer special so far. It was decidedly meh. I have higher hopes for the movie.

Started watching Ai ze Baby because of the recommendations here. Watched two episodes and see it as having potential. I definitely want to keep watching. Honestly, though, I find some of the implied innuendo a little disturbing. I tried to convince myself I was reading too much into it, but at least once they made it impossible for me to keep the illusion going. Ah well, I survived episode 4 & 5 of Koi Kaze, so I should be able to get through this. I just hope it's not recurring.

Ai Baby was good at the start but the extreme whining made me hate that girl. I couldn't bear to watch past ep 12 or so :lol

AIR movie was great. had a different story but same outcome.
haven't watched summer special yet.
and wow there's going to be a H&C movie? rock on.

Yeah, I love it too. Maybe I mentined it, but they're in Sweden too. :) The sign on the door, 'lappis' means patcher, their names are a little screwed up but it's all good. Also, I don't think there were glaciers in Sweden since the last.. I dunnu, Ice age? :lol

It's dreamy, like a ghibli, totally watchable.

Yeah, you really should stop watching at the end of the Hunter exam. That's when the series takes a very bad turn. At least DEFINITELY stop watching after the first OVA, OVA2 (Greed Island) is AWFUL AWFUL STAB MY EYES stuff.

Yeah, I'm thinking I'm going to go through OVA 1 and probably call it a day. We'll see how it goes.

In other news....

Eureka 7 episode 13 is SUBBED at long last.

Expect episode 14 very soon, as apparently they've finished work on it except for the new karaoke.

Out today in US I think, for all you gothlolicons and Shinbo Akiyuki (Soul Taker, Tsukuyomi...) fans.

Probably my favourite OVA of past few years, and one of the better Yuki Kujiura soundtracks.

Wow, Eureka 21 was the best ep in the series since ep12. A+++ all the way with incredible direction and top-notch writing. Mechanical designs were really good too :)

I wonder if any show will be able to get near Eureka in quality in the next 6 months.
