Oh, does anyone know how much actual usable space there is on the hard drive on the 20gig? Can you at least install 2 games at a time with it and then just delete them as you install other games?

i heard it's 16G free for you. again, i don't own a ps3 now. i heard it from another board where a japanese ps3 owner mentioned it.

Any word whether the remaining 4 gigs are just preloaded content on the HDD that can be deleted?

Nifty. :) Isn't there some wacky patent that prevents devs from implementing "mini-games" during loading times or something like that? I guess this isn't exactly the same thing.
Held by Namco, the creators of Ridge Racer 7.

The max supported res for the PS3 is 1080. Just because it uses HDMI doesn't mean it will support the full spectrum of resolutions.

although you may be right, here's an article i found through google:

Despite 1440p not actually being an official spec just yet, Chi Mei Optoeletronics has officially announced it will be mass producing a 47-inch Quad HD LCD panel in the second quarter of 2007. We've been drooling over the lovely 56-inch 3,840 x 2,160 resolution -- and apparently delayed -- panel CMO has been showing off all year, it looks like your first chance to surpass 1080p will come in a 47-inch, 2,560 x 1,440 resolution package. Its 3.68 million pixels are 1.78 times as many as are in current 1080p (1,920 x 1,080) screens, along with 450 nits brightness, 1,500:1 contrast ratio, 90% NTSC color saturation and a 6.5ms response time. Dual-link DVI and HDMI 1.3 connections have WQXGA resolutions like this in mind, so keep an eye out for a PlayStation 3 software update to 1440p, the only true definition of HD. The 56-inch panel is pictured above, hopefully we'll get a look at this panel later this week during the FPD International conference in Japan.

ps. I have no idea where they got that from... but I hope it is true!

After taking this picture, he probably took it from the floor, cleaned it and started playing.

Man at every system launch, somebody seems to buy a unit just to break it. It's like you almost know that evolution is going to eliminate their genes from the pool, being of inferior blood.

Did Anyone put in a third party BIG Hard Drive in yet> How does that work?
Yeah someone hooked a 320gig harddrive to their PS3.

Does anyone have some random statistics/estimations on what Resistance's attach rate was with the PS3s sold? I am hearing something like 25% of all PS3s sold, and the game has sold out in some stores. Who can comment on this?

i think it's some chinese website that did that... here is the picture:

i think something is fishy here. first, i did not see a picture of the ps3 successfully detected the new hdd. second, the way they connect the hdd to the ps3 looks wired...

there seems to be nothing wrong, they just used a SATA cable because the 3.5" HDD doesn't fit inside the PS3

knowing that the PS3 does support larger HDD than the standard 60GB model i don't see why that HDD shouldn't work

:)

For those with PS3's already, Jaffe's screen name is "sweettooth" although he's trying to figure out how to change it to INDIANAJONES. :lol

Here's some new concept art for CAC

oh.... now i see. so the red cable that gose into the ps3 is the data cable? and the thick black cable is a power cable...

it's been a long time since i upgraded my pc last time and i've never seen a sata hd in person before... i dont know the new hdd data cable is like that... *feel ashamed of himself*

Eh ... you guys have got money over there. :)

not all of us, but the majority of people have a high standard of living over there.

actually it's the son of our prosident that bought it, so it's pocket money for them. No way in hell would i spend that much on any console.

I got my u.s xbox 360 for around $560 since we always pay more for imports. not bad considering the 360 was being sold for $1500 when it first came out at those same import stores.

even if i bought it directly form the U.S i'd still have to deal with shipping charges and crap.

i'll wait on the PS3 untill the price is justifiable.....and untill i get my 50" sony XBR 1080p LCD screen :)

what on earth is 1440p? is that a new HDTV standard? and i'm guessing the PS3 doesn't support it right? how about through custome settings?

Its not a new HDTV standard :p

Its a resolution supported by newer CRT Monitors and some LCD Monitors.

Since the PS3 can do 1080P and now apparently the XBox360, 1080P is no longer the "holy grail" of HD resolutions, 1440P is. :p

For Blimblim :)

Heres how the Playstation Store scales to 4:3 sets apparently.

bad pic I know, but it does give you an idea of the scaling.

i got a question about line up etiquette,
up here, it rains like crap in November:

is it okay to put a folding chair in the line up and wait inside a car near bye when it rains?
(in suburbia, only with a car can you reach this place over night), keep in mind

Maybe. I'm just so ****ing sick of seeing that damn pic. It's like Lorena Bobbitt is slicing off my penis everytime a Sony fanboy waves that pic in my face.
