Jim, if you think that was loud (and it is) please, for the good of your speakers, don't download the demo for Guns Cash Chaos. Holy ape shit my heart skipped like sixteen beats.

Really, don't bother downloading the demo. It ain't that good, and BF shits all over it.

Hah, yeah, I was just making sure it wasn't me.
Note to Sony: Please make everyone normalize the damn volume for their demos, games and trailers.

SHIT!!!

Someone just drove past me in motorstorm ON FIRE and then kaput'd off to the side of the track. :lol

I LOVE THIS GAME

edit: I LOVE FLYING OFF THE CLIFFS. There is some sweet comedy in diving fullspeed off cliffs right past "SLOW" signs.

There is soooo much awesome shit that happens during a race that you can easily miss and not even see. Catching a glimpse in the corner of your eye of a truck busting apart (in flames!) as it rams into another is pure bliss. Motorstorm is freakin' incredible.

Quick question about the heat of the console. I've had the system on for about an hour and it already seems pretty toasty on the right side of the console (especially below the vents). In fact I'd say it's downright hot to the touch (not painfully so, but hotter than I expected)... you guys having the same experience or should I be concerned?

Bueller?... Bueller?

Yeah, felt it again and it's really f*cking hot right below those vents on the side. :/ Anybody else?

I picked up my system and started watching Talladega Nights just to see how the Bluray player was. About 10 minutes into it I started noticing dark horizontal bands moving up the screen....kind of like when you see a TV running in the background on TV but not as bad. I tried Resistance, Genji, and Ridge and it did it there too. Its really noticable in those games and annoying as hell. I also tried composite, component, and hdmi inputs and multiple TVs. Something is obviously wrong with the video output. Of course, EB doesn't have a replacement. I'm just going to get a refund tomorrow and have them order a 60gb for me for the next shipment rather than use my replacement plan. This sucks. :(
I had the same issue earlier -- I literally rewired my entire setup two or three times, even going so far as to put my PS3 and TV on seperate outlets in the event of interference. Each time I thought the problem had been solved, but I'd boot up the PS3 and I'd see the lines for just a moment. They'd fade in and out, sometimes severe, sometimes not.

Then I cut my system selector out of the equation and hooked up my PS3 directly to the TV via component. No bands. It ended up being my crappy cheap system selector, but buying another one isn't feasible right now, nor is manually digging around the rear of my set whenever I want to plug another system in. My solution? I kid you not, I wrapped my damn system selector almost entirely in aluminum foil, even going so far as to lift it and place the foil underneath. I haven't had a band since.

I finally won the motorcycle race in Motorstorm while using waggle controls. Took many tries :lol

You are a god among men. Beating you online next year will be hard.

Actually I had this same issue several years ago when I used to use system selectors. When I finally figured out the selector was the problem I gave up using them permenantly and just hook up about 4 things (2 on TV, 2 on receiver) and then manually swap when I play systems not hooked in.

Selectors are usually really cheaply made and do that shit to you :(

Oh and I've got to agree on the Resistance AI (where's Chespace when you need him?). It's really really good. It's not the Halo kind of smart where enemies work together as teams and flank you (no game have matched up to Halo 1/2 in AI), but it's one of the best non-Halo AIs because the enemies are BRUTAL and HARD. They hide behind stuff, they pop out quickly and take pot shots, when you hide they take the side and try to sneak up on you, etc...battles are REALLY TOUGH but intense. Very good AI job by Insomniac.

Yeah the A.I. is crazy in that game. Some times the guys try to guess which way I'm about to go and try to cut me off. Has that happened to anybody yet. Caught one of them guessing and shot 'em in the ass. :lol

is there a thread for everyone's user id's?

mine is IrishFigg if anyone gives a shit.
I somehow managed to get into the G4tV game of Resistance for a while earlier. :D

Someone send me a message!!!!!!!! :)

Picked up my 20GB + HDMI cable + Marvel Ultimate Alliance and rented Gundam, Blockbuster selection was shit they didn't even have resistance.

Is the air coming out the back of the PS3 supposed to be so hot?

Yeah that's what keeps the actually overall system cool. I've been running it for 12 hours and my PS3 is almost cold.

One interesting thing is why does the JPN store have Genji 2 downloadable costumes and the US store doesn't?

Something like Minna Issho that is a Japanese GAME with tons of text I can understand but ummm...a costume? WTF x 10.

Bebpo, I forgot all about those costumes! Where are they, in the Genji section?

I'm downloading the MotorStorm demo and it's been an hour and just 85% complete! Wtf? i

It's only 435 MB and my 360 gets download rates triple that with GB files...
Anyways, can anyone help? Or may it just be my wifi(but it is 60% signal strength)?(I use wired 360 btw)

Try turning your system on and off. That's what I had to do, and the demo downloaded in about 15 minutes as opposed to the hour it took the first time (and then wouldn't install). Then you'll be seeing ASS IN NO TIME!! :lol

Connected to my old TV for now so I can hook it up to the Internet, will move it to the projector later and then the HD fun begins :D

Check this: My TV supports PIP over HDMI. So I have 360 and PS3 running right next to each other :lol

Because they know we don't want that shit. :lol

Do you have RR6 and RR7? :D

You could compare heh...

I don't have RR6. :\

That was the first use I thought of, to be honest. LET'S COMPARE GAMES...but I don't have any multiplatform.

You're a genius!

Eeek! You are too!

:O

As for running games, I'm not really doing anything special, it's just PIP. :) I could try and play Motorstorm at the same time as I played like Oblivion or something. That'd be fun.

resistance is damned good stuff! it's cool to play something so high-speed after gears. feels like you're in fast-forward; you half expect the voices to be squeaky. the feel of the firefights is pretty unique -- i'm not seeing why reviews have called it derivative. it controls better on a pad than any other fps i've played -- dunno if it's the additional precision of the sixaxis, the way insomniac have coded things, or some combination of the two. it's a world of difference from dual shock, in any case. i just wish the levels weren't broken into such brief segments. just as you build some momentum you're interrupted by one of those dull expository cutscenes.

Couldn't agree more.

somebody wanna post a quick howto on creating a jpn account

1. Make new user
2. Sign up for PSN
3. Choose your region as Japan, language as Japanese
4. Fill in BS address
5. Say "no" (2nd option) on if you want to register a CC
6. Done.

Resistance looks like ass in 480p :(

Why'd you have to screw us 1080i users over, Sony :(

Other than that, though... I think I'm in love.

I just got a new job and I want to get that tv. Where can I buy it? I'm also buying a PS3. Not thing you know people will be doing PiP with BluRay Vs. HD DvD

What TV is that?

I've had it for two summers. I don't think they make this model anymore. It's a 720p lcd samsung though. I really like it.

*runs before dark10x comes to nitpick*

Motorstorm has me feeling way less buyer's remorse. The car wreck chaos reminded me of the kind of fun and unpredictability that a super-powered game consoles (or PC) pumping fun physics can deliver.

I watched Silent Hill on Blueray. Can't say it was all that much better than DVD. Less artifacting than my cheapo all region DVD player, but that's about it. One scene looked hyper-real, when Rose was in the hospital room with the
bloody nurse ghost and the burnt up witch girl

But man, they really need to get next gen with the DVD menus. They're shit on Taladega Nights and Silent Hill. Super cheesy looking. Not the kind of thing I want from hi-def.

I noticed some banding during movie playback too. And I'm not using any switching. Just straight HDMI. I'm gonna need to clean up the soup of wires behind my set up and isolate my video cabling.

The fact that they had to patch it on day (100MB) one tell us they knew of a ton of problems before they even launched. Someone should keep their console unpatched j ust to discover wh at kind of shape the units launched in.
