That didn't stop them from making more Bonds. And there are actually five books (not all by Ludlum, but same situation with Bond & Fleming).LM4sure said:I hope he doesn't do it. Don't milk it. There were only three books. There should only be three movies.
Well in that case I think there are more Bond books than movies. Plus I don't think the Bond movies are a good example of not milking.Teddman said:That didn't stop them from making more Bonds. And there are actually five books (not all by Ludlum, but same situation with Bond & Fleming).

Don't make Bond strangle you with your own bikini top.LM4sure said:Well this is not Bond! These are actually good movies! There, I said it.

He was in that thing with those other famous guys last year... some kinda mob film... it won some kind of award that looked like a golden naked dude...knitoe said:I have no doubt there's going to be a Bourne Part 4.
1) Ultimatum will make lots of money. Movie studio is not going to let a franchise just waste away with money to be made.
2) Matt Damon says he's not going to make anymore, but what other hits has he had other than the Bourne franchise recently? None. 2-3 years when he's doing nothing + big pay raise, he'll be back for next part.

After that, he's working with Greengrass again on Imperial Life in the Emerald City. He's hardly hurting for roles. Hell, he turned down a role in the new Batman movie, so it's not like he needs a big paycheck either.

Next 2-3 years, no doubt, he'll have plenty of secondary roles and a few dud movies, but afterward, he'll need to pull out another Bourne to generate buzz.
Sapiens said:Who's pretending? Like you said, he's one of the only things that's worth watching on that smear of feces show SNL and if you look at the money his film made compared to the amount of theaters in which it was released, he has long since peaked.
That, my girl, is a flash in the pan.

Well, you're right. He has second billing on Departed, below Leo DiCaprio and above Jack Nicholson.knitoe said:None of those movies were "BOX OFFICE HITS" and huge money maker. It's that way always for Bond. Bond movies make INSANE money over-seas. It is one of the few franchises that has appeal in every single country nearly. Bond isn't a franchise done by an American production company or with American crew. It makes sense we are not the key market for it boxoffice wise.jey_16 said:THE BOURNE IDENTITY

domestically, the Bourne films did quite well, but internationally Casino Royale did crazy numbers, i didnt realize it made so much money
I think it's because Bond is one of those characters that connects generations. Kinda like Star Wars in USA I guess. At least here it's normal to have at least one parent who has seen and liked Bond and that passes on to the next generation.Solo said:Oh, Juice.
Also, Bond movies NEVER do huge domestic bank, ever. CR is the highest at like $160M. Its the international markets where they destroy the box office. Always been that way. Basically keeps in line with Bond's univeral appeal I guess.
