Official Xbot turn in your jacket thread.....

there sure is gonna be alot of core systems on store shelves this holiday season...it's sorta pointless

If the core group of people I play against in live sports games passes on the $399 version,I'm for sure not getting it right away.

*Looks at Fifty,Dm,FMT,Mr.Bob,CK.....save me some money :P *

Uh, no. 90% out there don`t give a fuck about Live, HDTV and wireless. They want the cheapest deal and just play their games.

Edit, you might be right about this holiday season, as mostly hardcore gamers will pick it up. Over time though, the more casual will mostly pick up the core pack.

You seem content to buy the standard Xbox 360. Why? You are going to have to pony up 40 bucks for a memory card anyway. Which is only 64mb. So that 300 price is really 340. For 60 bucks more you can buy a removable 20 gig hdd which offers a ton more space. One sku at 349 w/ the hdd (forget the headset and remote) would have been better. With one sku and 10 bucks more you could have had storage which nearly 30 times bigger.

I would say almost all of the people that pre-orderd in my store wanted the hard drive with it.

I'll be picking up the premium xbox at launch. It isn't that big of a deal. I had a bunch of money budgeted for the 360 anyway. I'll just buy 9 launch games instead of 11. LOL

I can feel sympathy for the people who were duped by the promises of wireless controllers, HD in the box though... It is a valid reason to bitch, but I think that the majority of them probably will pony up the money for it anyway.

I`m still hoping it will come with a small memory card for that 299 price. If not, oh well. I`ll still buy the core pack.

I don`t need the other stuff. Never used the HD in the Xbox for anything but gamesaves. Not even custom soundtracks.

Why pay 60-100 bucks for something I`ll never need/use ?

Im still buying the US machine (import) but UK gamers are laughing. Absolute Bargin

Totally.

Even £60 for a wireless adapter is cheaper than you can get 3rd party ones for Xbox (last time i checked anyway).

Im still not sold on 360 though, considering turning in my Jacket if the hard drive is as useless as it now seems and the launch period games dont pan out.

No jacket to turn in for me. I'm grabbing the premium X360. All this means is I won't be buying a PS3 as soon as I would have liked. But in the end I'll own them all,not all of them on launch day though.

You know, i might miss out on NTSC 360 and just go on ahead with the PAL model. Its at a fantastic price and i dont have to put up with the headache of importing.

I HATE importing machines, theres so much room for error. Tax, delays, losing items etc

Here in Portugal current Xbox and PS2 games are an average of €65 (more than $65).

I wish it were €60 for Xbox360 games for all it's worth hehe :D

To those comparing the 360 harddrive price to normal harddrive prices. Laptop drives are fucking expensive! I payed like 150+ bucks canadian for a just a slow ass (compared to desktop harddrive speeds) 40 gig drive. Anyway, not turning in my jacket. The premium pack extras are all just fluff to me. Harddrive means nothing to me. It was hardly used in the xbox 1 and it's other advantages I didn't care for (except for maybe not having to buy a memory card).

here is an 80 GB notebook harddrive for less than the 360 one.

here is a 60GB SATA notebook harddrive for slightly more than the 360 one.

these are not being sold at a loss. and im quite sure MS can get a great deal straight from the manufacturers since they will be buying in bulk..

No reason to import with basically simultaneus launches. And i assume as with the PAL Xbox, 60hz option in the hardware. MS deserves support for this, when was the last time we got a console at the same time as the others? And cheap too ?

Microsoft have been my favourite PAL console manufacturer this generation. One of the reasons I only own one XBox. :)

Oh I don't know...faster loading times due to the HDD?

So Europeans will have to pay 490USD for Xbox with HD.... why, just because they did a straight conversion? Seriously... 490USD! Thats 90$ more than Americans, for the same product!

We paid more for PS2 and Xbox back on 2001 and 2002

What if you have a game that takes up 50 megs of save space? YOu gonna buy another memory card? Between the two prices, 99 bucks for a 20 gig hdd or 40 bucks for a 64 mb memory card the memory card is a rip off.

i agree. fast conversions and always (well almost) 60hz. great quality. that's one of their strenghts.

when i play on my xbox i feel quality. may sound geeky but thats feeling i have :p

Given the price of the peripherals (their obvious grab for cash strategy) you'd be an absolute jackass to buy the "core" product.

I'll laugh when Sony announce the PS3 price. Entire civilisations will collapse. If you think Xbox360 is expensive, don't think Sony are going to be giving you Blue-Ray, HDMI, 3 ethernet ports ect for free. :lol

Chalk this Xbot up for one premium pack on November the X. :D

That's what I'm saying. The only reason the 299 core price is out there so MS can say they have the X360 priced at 299. The core package is worthless.

I fear that with all the money that Sony made with the PS brand they will be able to take some loss and put the PS3 with a decent price and even with a HD

Very few games will take that much space. If not I`d be very surprised.
I`ll propably never buy another memory card. Just like I haven`t with my PS2 (had since japanese launch) and like I never will with my PSP. Just delete some if it gets full.

I don`t see why it`s any more of a rip off than memory cards on other consoles. Again, I would never used the harddrive, it would just be 20 gigs of empty space.

that's the issue though, isn't it? and why 360 has played so poorly? Sony has done nothing but show slick films, talk about next gen-media and features, etc. When they launch their machine with some stunning new tech and the most power being a few bucks more than this overpriced mish-mash isn't going to sting quite the same, is it?

I mean christ, what if the one Sony sku (I bet it's one) is $50 more but I'm getting better tech and better looking games months after I've watched the 360 launch at a premium price for less value?

Their playing out their advantage in time pretty poorly if you ask me.

What`s up with this kind of thinking?
If I`ll never buy anything else than a memory card, I have saved money over the premium pack. I`m glad I have this choice.

Not with the new bloke at the helm. Sony simply can't afford it. Infact, I wouldn't be surprised if PS3 is being drastically scaled down as we speak.

This is what Microsoft wanted, us to fight amongst ourselves. It was their plan all along. Their pricing plan is stupid and impractical.

What the fuck. Didn't I buy a 160gb hdd for like $90 from NewEgg a year ago?

Whatever. I was going to consider an X360 close to launch, but for those prices, they can suck me off.

I'll wait for the PS3, and the Revo, and then maybe after I get those, I'll consider an X3 once the prices return to sanity, somewhat.

Think of it more as a credit card deal. You pay 299 as an entrance and then add an HDD and other stuff as 2nd payment with taxes in coming months. :D

$50 wireless controllers? $40 wired controllers? that, friends, is some bullshit. $60 games too, i expect. i don't like the idea of waiting for ridge racer 6, but i'm no longer sure that 360 will be worth it at launch.

Has everyone forgotten that XBox 1 controllers were $40 when they came out years ago?

Some people here are just looking for excuses not to buy an Xbox360. When PS3 comes, all the shitty prices will look like great prices just because it's PS3's stuff.... :P

It's as if Sony has a god given right to rip everyone's asses and we still enjoy it. :lol

MS lied to us. Sale -1

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/e32005/20050516-pressbriefing-news.htm

Offering the greatest value in entertainment today, Microsoft detailed more key platform experiences that come standard with every Xbox 360 system:

Detachable and expandable 20GB hard drive to download demos and trailers along with new game levels, maps, weapons, vehicles, skins, community-created content, and more to rip music for playback and to listen to custom playlists in every game.

A wireless controller with Microsoft-patented wireless technology.

standard with every Xbox 360 system
standard with every Xbox 360 system
standard with every Xbox 360 system
standard with every Xbox 360 system

LIARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not an Xbot at all, but I was considering buying a 360 at launch for RR6, GR3, and Oblivion.
That was when I thought the system would come standard with a wireless controller, hdd, and some form of backwards compatibility.
Now I'm just going to use the money to upgrade my PC or wait for PS3.

M$ really had some momentum going until they made this move.

Yeah, if your a complete retard.

Try;

They have X800pro's for as cheap as 200$ The brand new X850 platinum is 399.00 the exact same price as the 360, and it doesn't come with a hard drive either.

Matter of fact, check out thier prices on 20gig harddrives as well. The 100$ 20-gig harddrive is fucking dumb as shit, and no self-respecting person will EVER say otherwise.
