LOL! Xbucks is a hard sell to some of us who have sworn never to pay more than $300 for a game console. PS3, Xbucks, Revo...it don't matter. Gaming can get expensive without me, I guess. :? PEACE.JMPovoa said:Look people. It's still early. The urge to buy it will grow slowly within you as more and more media is thrown out every coming week in gaming websites. Then you'll start to realize that all this HDD / wireless BS is not so bad afterall. You just wait.

Not quite as dumbshit as comparing 3.5' hdd prices to 2.5' 5400 rpm hdd prices, as some people STILL seem to be doing. why don't you pricewatch those, chumly (say, a seagate or a samsung), and tell us how much it comes out to.$66-$70 should be just about right, if you don't wanna do the work. And before you decry the $30 or so disparity between the OEM price and the retail MSRP of the HD addon, let's not forget the idea is to A)make money on peripherals and B)more than likely cover the cost of the Nvidia license for backwards-compatibility.
It is certainly not my intention to do any damage control--I think the 2 sku thing is re-fucking-tarded. But some of you people, seriously, are starting to irk me with the spoiled-brat-bitching It's spoiled brat-bitching when people are PISSED that you have to spend 400$ for a 360 with a Hard-drive? Bullshit on that. I want a harddrive at 299.00, just like the XBOX.

here is a 60GB SATA notebook harddrive for slightly more than the 360 one.
these are not being sold at a loss. and im quite sure MS can get a great deal straight from the manufacturers since they will be buying in bulk..

Seriously, I am the biggest Xbox 1 whore, and if Xbox was a dude I would probably service him until he nutted man yogurt on my udders, but the combination of pricing and segmented hardware is like Microsoft pooping in my mouth.

Sure, nothing is free, but few things are $100 accessories.Redbeard said:Yeah, I'm sure they're just throwing it in for free.
Well, we didn't say MS would do a good job at not losing money.FirstInHell said:Wasn't this the same board that pointed out how MS needed to do something because they were losing money on every Xbox sold?
How did you people expect to get all of that stuff for $299?
That's probably true, and add hard drives to the list. But those are also things MS has talked about as being their Big Deals.Gregory said:Uh, no. 90% out there don`t give a fuck about Live, HDTV and wireless.

They have X800pro's for as cheap as 200$ The brand new X850 platinum is 399.00 the exact same price as the 360, and it doesn't come with a hard drive either.
Matter of fact, check out thier prices on 20gig harddrives as well. The 100$ 20-gig harddrive is fucking dumb as shit, and no self-respecting person will EVER say otherwise.
m0dus said:Sorry, but at a certain point, you're going to hit a brick wall as far as cost of materials, even with the bare minimum platters you use.
And, again, let's not forget--they intend to make a PROFIT on peripherals, and more than likely are using the cost of the HDD to absorb the cost of the Nvidia license (the same way, for example, the Xbox remote was priced to help absorb the cost of the DVD-video licensing). Chances are, the 40 GB HD will be around 129.00 .

It was bad enough to see the skus split in two. $299 for just a graphics card upgrade, you get the system and a wired controller. You need to get the $399 system to have access to all the X360 functionality. Then I noticed the pricing for Xbox 360 accessories. For those of you who haven't seen them here is a list of some of the add on prices:
Xbox wired controller - $40
Xbox wireless controller - $50
20 gig HDD - $99
Wireless adapter - $99 (ME = WTF X 10000000000000000000000!!!)
Faceplates - $20
There may be more, but that is what popped out in front of me. Xbox 360 is assfucking consumers 360 different ways! So, here it is, MS has completely screwed up Xbox 360 from its initial unveiling and it just got worse today. Xbots, here is the day you can sign in and turn over your jacket!

Insertia said:Not an Xbot at all, but I was considering buying a 360 at launch for RR6, GR3, and Oblivion.
That was when I thought the system would come standard with a wireless controller, hdd, and some form of backwards compatibility.
Now I'm just going to use the money to upgrade my PC or wait for PS3.
M$ really had some momentum going until they made this move.

this is Fuckin retarded.
Sony is Promising the world in PS3 and more than likely taking a bigger hit financially than they should considering their overall profit margin debt balancing.

Mrbob said:399 isn't unreasonable to ask for whats included in the premium bundle. What gets me is the accessory prices for the controllers and adapters. Way too high....game prices going up too hurt as well. Although rumors persist that first party 360 games will be 50 with only a handful of 3rd party games at 60. I'd like to see if this is true or not.
Mrbob said:Not sure how this is a negative...but I wouldn't worry too much about Sony making money off of PLAYSTATION 3.

DCharlie said:I dunno - it's like the PSP packs. Looking at the individual addons that Sony put out, the value pack looks like great value. 2000 yen for the cover, 1500 for the little strap, 3000 yen for the memory stick. Same tactic, just a bit more extreme. Personally i'm not impressed by $50 a controller. Unless of course that wireless controller is the UBER CONTROLLER....
on the Sony front, what exactly did they announce yesterday?

it's just a ploy to get people to look at the packs and go for the $399.
they want to be seen pandering to the low incomers who don't care about online and DLC.
I suspect they are hoping that people wavering will go for the $399 version when they see the $99 for a hdd. For an extra $100, you can have that, and a remote and a wireless controller. That starts looking like great value when you look at $50 for a controller and $99 for a hdd alone.

Ponn01 said:But if the HDD is not required for games, and MS going out of their way to let people know that and developers, why should a person go out of their way to get the HDD now? I think that's quite a few peoples problem with this whole new 2 SKU deal me included. Next to media streaming which is looking like a no go for video if I don't have a media center PC (and no i'm not getting a whole new OS just for that) and the HDD there isn't anything else making me look to the Xbox 360 that I can't get on the PS3. And at least on the PS3 I know I can get 3 generations of game comptability, built in WiFi and a BRD player. There's a big picture here to look at and with these new console prices you are seeing the fear of people being stuck with a system now.
