I ran out of guys in the EXACT SAME PLACE as I did when I first played this game in the arcades so many years ago. Damn you, Mr. T clone! Though I'm not buying it. Give me Final Fight, or that four player beat 'em up by Konami where you could kick people when they're down. Four player live would be rocking.

started co-op twice now, its lasted 10seconds and then drops grr!!!

are we now to the point where we expect that oddness in the first hour of live play?

had a quick play through on solo, seems like the basic old DD, bit of a dirge etc as the gameplays pretty simple but its been bought for the co-op after the fun that was TMNT online.

I actually prefer the enchaced graphics to play in, when playin its not too bad (shame they didn't create new frames of animation tho but guess its not really needed).

I thought DD looked awful with the filter on, but man, you feel like you're squinting when playing on original mode, wow :lol

I suck at this game when there's at least two baddies on the screen, get my arse beaten down, they surround me, then keep knocking me down each time I get up.

Don't remember the C64 version being this hard...

Right, so apparently Sonic the Hedgehog: High Speed is still alive and a German site called Sega Online has posted brand new screen shots.

Also in Sega Rumor News it is being alleged that Streets of Rages is heading to the XBLA and is being ported by Sumo Digital.

I'm certainly going to be less inclined to pay 5-10 dollars for these games seeing as I have full ability to play them on gametap(Sonic especially, but also the final fights and streets of rage and what not).

But co-op will get me to buy more games than anything else.

Please let this be true!

SoR is the kind of side scrolling fighters.

It isn't hard to see that rumor becoming true at all, though you are wrong it is Streets of Rage 2 that is the king of brawlers.

#1- Sweet, this is an instant purchase for me, hope there's an option to cut out the borders though.

#2- Should have been Streets of Rage 2 and/or 3. The first game is so horribly dated and awful in comparison(I'd buy it anyway though =/ )

Oh and for the record the Japanese version of Streets of Rage 3 is still king. Shame it costs a mint on ebay and the only other (legal) way of playing it is via the JPN release of Sonic Gems collection.

Sega knows the term "vintage" is so much cooler than "retro" or "classic".

At least if this is true it sounds like Sega will have a series of these games under their "vintage" line.

I expect Golden Axe 1 to get a release, despite being incredibly awful by today's standards. Golden Axe: Revenge of Death Adder in all of its four-player incredible goodness will of course never get a port.

Sonic 1 is still amazing though, hopefully the port isn't borked like the GBA release.

"SEGA, ALL THE RIGHTS MOVE?"

More like "SEGA, ALL THE RIGHT MOVES!"

Oh wait that doesn't describe Sega at all. :(

COPYRIGHTED by "Sega, All the Rights Move."

WHAT.

Maybe they babelfished "Copyright" from some weird language to English.

That may be what happened as well, It looks like what was trying to be expressed was Sega, All Rights Reserved and instead they that future Neo GAF Meme instead. Also, it would be like Sega to screw up a simple copyright notice.

Is there anyway for me to turn off these disgusting graphics in the demo, and revert to the original? Can someone post screenies with original graphics, so I can contemplate buying this game. From what I took from the demo, I'm not getting it.

I dont have the game, but did you even look at the options? There should be an option to revert to original.

I should give Mad Tracks and Street Trace more credit than I did before. I wouldn't have expected a 4 player split screen mode for ST, might be fun. Mad Tracks looks more like a behind-the-wheel Micro Machines - frankly, it makes me wish No Cliche still existed and we'd get Toy Commander.

Good god at Rush 'N Attack. Looks like awful, awful shit.

But you know what, **** all those games because THIS game just came up on the OFLC!

YESSSSSSSSS
BOMBERMAN!!!

that made my year :)

here's hoping for 5 player online

Back in March of 2006 Hudson’s online marketing manager hinted at the Saturn version being under evaluation 10 person multiplayer and you could play it online using NetLink; I think you may be setting your sites too low hoping for only 5 player :)

I've played a bunch of ten-player Saturn Bomberman, and honestly I prefer the eight-player modes. But hey, the more options the better.

Too early to guess on next weeks release?

No, not at all, especially since Microsoft did just do the list thing again.

I pick Street Trace: NYC for the release next week with Band of Bugs showing up if it turns out to be a 2 release week.

I'd be very surprised to see two indie/original IP games show up the same week, but you never know

I meant the series as a whole.

Although SoR3 > SoR2

Sonic on xbla?! It took them a year to do it, of course we don't know when it comes.. Hopefully this signals the immediate release of chu chu rocket (DC version) with the ability to make and swap custom designs with friends.

Bit of an update on those Sonic Screenshots via IGN XBOX 360

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/786/786650p1.html

Last year at E3 Microsoft and SEGA quietly announced Sonic the Hedgehog High Speed for the Xbox Live Arcade. The game was supposed to be part of a series of SEGA console classics headed to Microsoft's download service, but the title soon dropped off our radar after E3. Now SEGA's official Netherlands Website has screenshots and a name for the classic series: SEGA Vintage Collection.

Our Dutch is a little rusty, so we can't be sure exactly what SEGA Netherlands is announcing about the game. But the opening paragraph clearly says "Xbox Live Arcade," and the screenshots show a title screen where "Leaderboards," "Achievements," and "Return to Arcade" options can be found.

IGN is awaiting comment from SEGA. We'll keep you updated with more info as we receive it.

What is learned from this article is that the site those screenshots have come from is the official Netherlands representation of Sega and not some random fansite, which means the percentage of those screenshots being real has increased greatly.

Another Puzzle Quest Q&A this time from from Gamespot.

http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/puz...nge/news.html?sid=6170347&tag=topslot;title;1

GameSpot: Did you expect Puzzle Quest to get the reception that it did?

Steve Fawkner: By the time we released Puzzle Quest, we had logged hundreds and hundreds of hours playing the game, so we knew it was a lot of fun. I had a pretty good feeling that we were going to get a great reception, but we were really surprised at how quickly fans became addicted and began spreading the word about the game.

GS: What inspired you to make the game?

SF: Puzzle Quest is really the child of my love for role-playing games along with a terrible Bejeweled addiction that I suffered a few years ago. As a game designer, when you love two things, you always start wondering what will happen if you put them together--peanut butter and chocolate? Or beer and cranberry juice? The only way to really find out is to make a prototype, which we did in early 2005. It turned out to be greater than the sum of its parts, so we immediately went into full production.

GS: Did you try to guess as to what the reaction would be? What do you think of how it's been received?

SF: It sounds kind of selfish, but we really made the game for ourselves. After we had a solid foundation for gameplay, we went through the usual process of trying to widen the appeal, adding little touches that we hoped would garner a great reaction. No matter how much you like a game, you always have that 1 percent doubt in your mind that gamers and the press might just hate it. In many ways, that's what drives you to constantly improve it in those critical last few months. As it turns out though, it's been very popular, and there's no higher form of flattery for a development studio to receive than to have gamers recommend the title to their friends.

GS: What's the most surprising thing about the way the game's turned out?

SF: I'm still quite surprised at the depth we were able to achieve with the game. I mean, there is a simple 8x8 grid with seven colors of gems to move. It doesn't sound like much, but there are so many spells and monsters and different tactics to employ. Every character class plays quite differently, and I'm still learning things about the game myself.

GS: Why did you decide to bring the game to Xbox Live Arcade?

SF: I think that XBLA is a fantastic service. I'm almost ashamed to admit that I bought this huge, expensive console, but I spend half of my time playing these small, fun downloadable games on it. I think Puzzle Quest will just be a perfect fit for the XBLA service. We're small enough to download, but we have the gameplay, depth, and replayability of a full game.

GS: Is the game going to be a straight port of the PSP and DS games or will there be new content?

SF: XBLA has so many great features that it would be a criminal act if we didn't take advantage of all of them. We've had time to make changes and plenty of feedback from players about potential improvements and balancing.

GS: Will the game support downloadable content?

SF: Role-playing games are a great genre for downloadable content: monsters, quests, items, spells, etc. Oblivion has been fantastic with the content it has made available, and there is no reason that Puzzle Quest couldn't make similar things downloadable. We don't have any announcements about that yet though. We're still focused on tweaking the core game to make it perfect for XBLA.

GS: In terms of both visuals and gameplay, what's being enhanced to take advantage of the 360?

SF: All I can say at the moment is that there will be a few interesting surprises that should make the game even more enjoyable.

GS: Will you be taking any user feedback on the PSP and DS games into account when prepping the game for XBLA?

SF: Absolutely! We've found over the years with our Warlords games that the players are one of our biggest sources of inspiration for new features and improvements. A few suggestions from the forums have already crept into the XBLA version.

GS: Will we see D3 bringing Puzzle Quest or any of its other titles to the PlayStation 3 or even Virtual Console on the Wii?

SF: I can't speak for any of the other D3 titles, but I know that the team at D3 is a very sharp bunch of people. I'm certain they'll be evaluating all sorts of opportunities to get Puzzle Quest out into the gaming community.

GS: Thanks for your time.

I tried Double Dragon and it's something cool for those who have played the old version except for the 360 pad, which is very frustrating: It's too hard to play it in that configuration and uncomfortable.
