I only played the PC one, but it's definitely a game game. The game is basically built on timing explosions to get the biggest chains, collecting items to extend the game, and chain up more explosions. Like GW, it's a game built on simple concepts that gets deeper as it goes along, but the actual gameplay has a unique feel to it.Eggo said:Can someone explain what E4 is or how it plays? Link to a video of gameplay? It looks like Geometry Wars. But does it play like that? Or is this a visualizer non-game?

I have a crappy PC and ain't going to upgrade any time soon, so no thanks.Shard said:If you really want to play it so badly, it is already out for the PC.
I don't want a 3D graphics upgrade, thanks. It's always the first thing I turn off on Xbox LIVE Arcade games. Thankfully you can do it here, and that's when you see that the "3D mode" is just a skin they lay on top of the original. You can flick between the modes at any time which is kind of cool. I think a lot of people will feel like the game is uncontrollable while they play it in 3D mode - the game still behaves as if you're controlling it with an old school Atari-style joystick, and the extra fluidity and range of motion that the 3D models sport send mixed signals. Using the analog stick is also a recipe for disaster.
The team update screen drives me nuts. Not because it's overcomplicated (it's not). Not because it gets in the way of the game (it's essential). Not because they expanded the team roster so it takes longer to get a "fully kitted out" set of players (great idea). It drives me nuts because it's bloody impossible to read the menu options on a SD screen. This is ESPECIALLY maddening when the original game had a perfectly presentable menu screen that was totally readable on the Amiga / MegaDrive version which ran at, what, 320 × 200? Why did they mess this up? Agh. There's no option to revert to the classic menu graphics, which is just agh. Silly. Stupid. Probably not worth all my ranting, but still.
The online code actually works! I know that seems kind of silly to be excited about, but this is Xbox LIVE we're talking about and it's always a crapshoot. It's nothing fancy but you can be playing against a friend pretty quickly. And to be honest, two player Speedball 2 is what it's all about. You'll be calling your friends fucking assholes in no time at all.
So yeah. Despite the annoying menu system and lack of trademark soundtrack, this is STILL a bloody awesome game. It's been a long wait, but we're glad to report that Speedball 2 has made it safely to the modern world.
Overall: If you don't get this you're an idiot and I'll spit on you if I see you at a party, not that I go to parties anyway / 10

Rocketmen: Axis of Evil Coming VERY Soon?
After a flurry of activity and information about Rocketmen: Axis of Evil back in August, Capcom has been very quiet about the game.
However, the refreshingly forthwright Christian Svensson (Sr. Director of Strategy at Capcom) has blessed us with more knowledge. And what's better, it's about the release date. On the Capcom forums he says:
Release, worldwide, cross platform is targeting mid-late October (slightly later than originally envisioned as we've decided to do full localization for Europe) however we need to find a window where both XLA and PSN can prop as near simultaneously as possible, which doesn't always work on our schedule. So long story short, it could be a bit later due to factors out of our control.
Sounds like we'll be playing this game within the month. And finally a bit of news that is positive for Europe (as opposed to the usual contest/free game that you unfortunates don't get) -- full localization. Cause to celebrate?
For those of you busy traveling through time and space to hypnotic beats, psychedelic colors and gazing into The Eyes of Allard, a title update for Space Giraffe will be released later this week. The update includes the following updates:
* Players will no longer be able to indefinitely hold the power zone at its maximum on a given level.
* Players will no longer be able to indefinitely juggle enemies.
The leaderboards and start level bonuses will be refreshed as part of the title update. Any levels that have been unlocked through gameplay will remain accessible.
And I can tell you why: it's horrible.Shard said:Capcom has been very quiet about the game.

Gamespot said:October is shaping up to be a busy month for Australian developer Auran. Earlier this week, the studio launched its action-focused massively multiplayer online game Fury. Today, Sierra Online revealed that the developer's other principal product, TV-series-inspired Battlestar Galactica, will hit the jet stream for PCs on October 23 and be a part of Microsoft's weekly Xbox Live Wednesday update on October 24.
Battlestar Galactica fans eager for a refresher before the new season launches on the Sci-Fi Channel in late November will be pleased to know the game includes 10 single-player missions based on popular episodes from the TV series. The flight-combat shooter also features multiplayer domination, deathmatch, and team deathmatch modes, accommodating eight players in the XBL game and 16 pilots in the PC version. Gamers can align themselves with either the human or Cylon factions and have a selection of four ships from each contingent.
Xbox 360 owners can pick up Battlestar Galactica for 800 Microsoft points ($10) through the Xbox Live Marketplace. The PC version will be offered both as a digital download and via retail for $19.99. It is rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.
