I smell something. Hitler Stole My Potato's frustration-flung feces mixed with GhaleonEB's custodial arsenal, yes, it is quite unmistakable.... it's like a bait bucket full of Nightcrawlers!

Worms this week, fellas!

This week's game is Psychonauts 2. Tim Schafer has issued a personal apology to Hitler Stole My Potato and promises tri-weekly releases from Doublefine.

People can pull out all the sales charts and show me that this nostalgic crap is selling but personally I'm not happy at all with this shit, especially at these prices. PSN offers much better content at much better prices. XBLA can suck it.
XBLA customer base has proven to be of a very different composition than GAF, and certainly different from YOU. The fact that the retro titles are selling (aka charts you don't want to see) is evidence enough of that. And isn't this a rather random point in the week to start up the same bitching that goes on every week? We don't even know what the game is yet. :lol

I believe we do actually.. like I said, the xbox.com site had AH listed and it happened to be in line with the last 3 games released, I think its certain that's what is gonna be out.

I want Sonic to finally hit the arcade. I mean how in the hell does it take that long to port Sonic 1. I mean its been ported to like every ****ing system. it cant be that hard to implement Achievements/what ever the hell else they wanna put in.

In fact the only reason i havent bought it on the wii is because i want the achievements for it on 360

:lol Much better prices? I'm sorry, but since November I've gotten well over 3200 marketplace points for, collectively, about $10 total, due to taking advantage of in-store discounts and sales on the marketplace and Zune cards vs. having to use "actual money" on the PSN store.

I got about 6000 points for $0. I win.

(I'm sure someone else has more points than me for free)

I don't know what promotional deals have to do with PSN/XBLA pricing though. And for the record, I think the PSN pricing + game sharing beats XBLA

I think the point when it truly beats XBLA is when they make those downloadable PS games playable on the PS3. The PSP thing is neat, but both systems should be able to do their download thang independent of each other.

I think the default pricing between the two... are equivalent.

We'll see how equivilent they are when SotN hits. PSX games go for $6 (or is it $7?) on PSN. I, along with most people, expect SotN to go for 1200 points. Even if it goes for the reasonable amount of 800, that is still way more money than any PSX game on the PSN.

$5 for Paperboy or Q Bert is way too much no matter how you look at it.

root beer tapper and paper boy are the top 2 full version games on xbl right now....................

And people spend $60 for yearly sports updates. What's your point? $5 is way too much for classic games, especially when most can be found on a compilation for significantly cheaper. Just because some people are buying them doesn't mean they aren't over priced.

And yes, Nintendo charging $5 for NES games (some NES games) is way too much as well. Companies gouge, but I'm going to protect my eyes.

Just because they are the two most recent additions.
Many games have come out and either had low debuts (Roboblitz) or never even cracked the top 10. (Novadrome, here's looking at you.) Just being the new game has never guaranteed the top spot in the first week.

I believe this is correct.

If it's a good game, I think it'll sell. But it's also obvious that the big name franchises help.

What I'd like to see is some classic franchises brought back to life with true HD sequels. Or even a port of GnG PSP or that rumoured Sonic: High Speed. They would DEFINITELY sell because they have a good name behind them, but can also offer something to us clamouring for new content.

But it's obvious that there is a market out there for retro content - Paperboy proves that. While I'm all for retro content, I think there is a need to move from 1979-1985 era to the 1989-2000 era. I want to see Streets of Rage, Sonic, etc. Dreamcast arcade ports like Crazy Taxi would be an obvious choice. There's so much more that could be done, so much more money that could be made.

To release one (ONE) crappy early 80-ies arcade conversion a week doesn´t cut it anymore for Live Arcade

Where are the new games/90-ies conversions? one a month?

I don't think Konami will be that stupid. 1200 MS Points for new games like RoboBlitz I can understand, but they'll have a hard time justifying that price tag if SotN will ever cost that much. It's common sense, they should know this.

I don't know how most people expect it to happen though. It doesn't have any online modes (not that the game needs it), the enhanced graphics probably won't look that different compared to the original sprites, so all the XBLA version has is art on the side of your wide-screen TV and achievements. Charging 1200 MS Points for that would be lunacy.

Man, I hope not. I think a lot of us called it last week though. We were just hoping to be proven wrong. :P

Isn't it Monday? It's the rare week we hear on Mondays, but I'll let y'all run around on fire some more. I gots Volk to take down.

Sad, but probably true. Shouldn't be allowed to go above $10 in my opinion.

Considering I got the PS1 version for $10 I don't think this version should go above $5.
Hell I don't even know why I'd buy it, it'd just be paying $5 for 200 achievement points....oh well

I kind of hope the game for this week is Double Dragon. I scoffed at the "classics" until I picked up Gauntlet on a whim. It's fun as hell with four other players, cursing each other out whenever we got stuck. :lol

I believe in that XBLA DD screenshot thread it was said to have a March release.

This isn't some kind of sick joke (about no release), is it?

I'm not going to complain about getting games that I want but don't come, like Worms, because I know it will come, but nothing just pisses me off.

Mojovonio said:
XBLA could have been so great. They really need to release more games.

Agreed. Surely it can't be so hard to release two or three classic arcade games per week plus an original game if available. Most 80's or 90's arcade games ie Pacman only need leaderboards and achievments and that can't take that long to implement.
