Most hilarious trial ever. I start Megaman 9 demo and play the first stage. On the second screen there's a small hole which can kill you. I try to jump over it, but an enemy jumps up and pushes me into the hole and I die. I try again and die. I try yet again and die... Trial Over! Would you want to purchase this game? :lol

I'll end up buying both--but which should I play first?

Braid.

Wow, they really did go to lengths to make this feel like a NES game. The music will occasionally stop a playing an instrument when certain sounds are playing, to mimic the small amount of sound channels. Although with all the work they put it into I'm surprised they didn't add support for one basic thing, which is scaled graphics without any smoothing. That bilinear filter really looks out of place. I want my pixelated graphics showing in all its glory darnit.

Too bad Capcom seems to be using the game as a DLC scam. If you read the help screen, you can see there's 2 modes which is locked out unless you buy all the DLC. It seems fairly obvious they've already finished all the extra content and they're just delaying it on purpose. Just release the entire game at once at a higher cost, I really don't like buying a game in small pieces and having to wait for everything to arrive.

Bionic Commando: Rearmed.

Well, this is definitely the day for ridiculous trials. War World's trial is so short it's basically over after you click "start", I didn't even get time to figure out how the controls work. Game looks pretty though, too bad the framerate hurts a lot.

Megaman 9's trial seems to be fairly long, but it's so insanely difficult you end up playing as short as War World's trial.

I think I'll just buy Megaman 9. Not sure if it's a type of game I'd enjoy, but I think Capcom deserve getting some monies for daring to make a retro game. Dunno what to do regarding War World.

From its description on the marketplace: "War World is a fast moving fist/third person shooter." Awesome.

The War World trial is timed to 49 seconds, what the fuck? :lol

If you select anything other than the default mech or the default map you'll see "Unlock this blah blah". Then you start the game and you're figuring out the basic controls and stuff and the unlock screen comes up. It seems like it's got quite a bit of depth (I see controls for Stealth, Thrusters, Mortars/Mines, Miniguns/Lasers, Missiles, Shield, etc) but no one will ever get to try any of that before buying. One of the most ridiculous trials and it'll kill sales of this game. Too bad...

49 seconds of trial later ... delete. Cant really tell what the game is about, or game is so shallow that i see it all in 49 seconds. Of course 3 of the 49 seconds tick off as you getting ready.

49 seconds..... ? :lol :lol

Christ, people think that MS are showing no confidence by pricing BK:N&B at $40, what does it say when a demo of a game has a 49 second limit!

MM9 is a no-go as well, I didn't enjoy BC:R that much, and after Yahtzee's rant I realised I completely agreed with him on all points.

Ah well, just as well I only have 100 simoleans anyway.

Wait, that's not a joke? Are the developers retarded? That's almost circumventing MS's policy of requiring demos. They should crack down on this shit.

So what's War World about?
I'm not going to download the demo for 40 seconds, you guys tell me, please.
Does it have a Story mode? is it multiplayer-only?

I would love to play a good mech game online but I will have to give it awhile and see what general impressions are like. Hopefully my 360 will be back soon so I can play my 46 second demo (if that doesn't say must buy I don't know what does :/).

It has to be a mistake. A typo somewhere or something.

What I'm most curious about now is how they decided on such a weird time limit of 49 seconds. It's like they thought a one minute demo would be too generous and decided to shave off 11 seconds, fucking ridiculous :lol

Okay, I tried War World and it does actually give you enough time to get the feel of the basics of the game, which is essentially third person UT3, only not as good. The fact that they're mechs is window dressing, and doesn't seem to have any impact on the gameplay. If you want a good arena mech game, play Phantom Crash. If you want a multiplayer deathmatch with a lame story mode, go UT3. I'm not sure what the appeal of War World is supposed to be.

Here's a link to the development blog for our next game (currently called project2).

http://voidstarcreations.com/newgame/

We're still in the really early stages of development, but we do have a few in-game screens posted. We'll continue to post screens and movies as things progress. We love to hear feedback, so let us know what your thinking.
This looks very good so far.
I've always wanted a 3d isometric type rpg game for the 360, retail or xbla game. Something like Nox or similar would be awesome.
I hope you guys can pull it off.

Days of Wrath Announced

http://xboxlive.ign.com/articles/915/915157p1.html

October 1, 2008 - Foxy Films and United Coders have announced that Days of Wrath will come first to the Xbox Live Arcade…if the group can find a publisher willing to take on the project. The game is set to be completed in the spring of 2009 and is based on a movie of the same name. It tasks players with controlling one of four gangs and expanding their underworld empire. Each gang has its own strengths and weaknesses, thereby differentiating the various factions.

Foxy Films and United Coders also intend to make the movie available for download at a cost, and several expansion packs for the game are planned.

NOX!! I don't think I've ever seen anyone even mention Nox outside of my friends... that multiplayer was so much fun. Can't wait for this new project to shape up..

Penny Arcade Episode 2 Gets Cheap
On the rain-slick precipice of affordability.
by Ryan Geddes

http://xboxlive.ign.com/articles/915/915173p1.html

October 1, 2008 - Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness Episode 2 has reached gold master status for its PC, Mac and Linux versions and is nearing closer to release both on those platforms and on consoles, developer Hothead Games announced today.

The sequel will also be cheaper than the original, at $14.95 for computer and Xbox Live Arcade versions. A PlayStation Network version will release "shortly thereafter with similar pricing," Hothead said. The first episode of the downloadable Penny Arcade episodic game was $20 (1,600 MSP).

"Episode One was a huge investment for us and established a great base from which we built Episode Two. It allows us to focus even more on the fans in developing future games in the series," said Hothead's CEO, Vlad Ceraldi. "Our new game has a lot of great enhancements that were made possible by direct fan interaction and we are extremely excited to get our game into their hands and get their feedback."

So... because I liked the PC version I'm going to buy War World this eve on a whim. I'd try the demo first, but at 49 seconds why bother? :lol

I'll let you guys know how it pans out.

For someone earlier questioning what niche this would fill: UT3 is far too expensive for an ostensibly multiplayer shooter without a big fanbase. A dethmatch based fast action shooter on XBLA services a specific craving- those who want fast action but don't want to pay for a retail release. That would be me!

It's like $9 on PC now... but if we're talking strictly 360, then yea.
If we're talking strictly 360 its a bit naive to think War World is going to get a decent following due to the horrendous demo. It could be the greatest game in the world but you don't get enough time to find out.

Graphics whores will certainly jump on it. There is a free demo for the PC version here.

UT3 still has a significant player base on Xbox Live, and is fairly cheap now. At least I've seen it on sale. It's also a much, much better game than War World. Seriously, try the demo of WW before buy. Even if it's less than a minute, it'll leave you better informed than not playing it.

Sense? Caution? I laugh in the face of such things.

Seriously though, you're probably (see: definitely) right. I'd like to jump on UT3, I really would- but I'm pretty skeptical I'd be able to get a good match in this backwater country (Australia).

The population here just isn't big enough to support a decent community for many Live games unfortunately. Not that War World would likely be any better :lol But, it is a lot cheaper. UT3 is still very expensive here ($100).

Oh, and I wish I had a computer that could run UT3...

I picked up Braid a few weeks ago and beat it about a week ago, loved the game. It was nice to be able to play a game my girlfriend actually enjoyed watching and helping me with as it went along. Any other XBLA games like Braid in the mix or possibly an expansion or sequel in the works?

I downloaded the Castle Crashers demo and love it, but any new on a patch for the game? I don't want to buy it until a patch is up.

I just played the War World demo and I noticed some problems with the framerate. Is it an intermittent problem or does the game have serious framerate issues? 49 seconds isn't long enough to make a judgement call. I'm probably just going to delete it. I tend to err on the side of being a cheapass when it comes to XBLA games.

No sequel or any extra content for Braid. The developer is working on a PC port and then his next title which is said to be very different (3d game).

The Behemoth is working on a patch for Castle Crashers, currently in testing and then it'll go through certification. I'd guess probably a week or two from now it'll be released.

I honestly think that War World might be worth owning but how can you tell? lol I played it and I can't tell if its a good game with a horrible demo or just a bad game and the dev is trying to cover it up.

It honestly looks to have the potential to be the 360's Warhawk at a glance but no one will ever know.

Can they patch a demo and give us maybe 3-5 minutes of playing time at least?

I got really excited when I saw the stealth mode because, along with the description, it looked just like Trap Gunner. Then I saw the real multiplayer mode and I was instantly disappointed.

For those that don't know, Trap Gunner was a 3rd person isometric action game where you would run around in grid based arenas laying traps. You could snoop for traps and disarm them with a button sequence, although snooping would lower your movement speed. You could also combine traps into rube goldberg like machinations of destruction. The multiplayer mode was phenomenal.

Can anyone help me getting these two 3D Ultra™ Minigolf achievements ? :

Open Champion
-Win an online multiplayer game.

Host with the Most
-Host 3 online games.

Seems that no one has played this for months, and no one of my friends have this game :(

Really? Not even suggestive themes? I suppose that was more of a Tooie thing, but Banjo 1 had a couple snuck in there.

For that matter, was it the first or Tooie that had the island that looked like a penis when viewed from above? Google isn't being very helpful.
