im sorry guys but double dragon has not aged well at all.....

I agree. Arcade needs less Double Dragon, more River City Ransom. And more Turtles in Time.

Any word on when we can expect more tables for Pinball FX? The same three are starting to get a bit old...

The head of the development studio has been posting on the xbox.com Pinball FX forum, so you might find info there. Also, I am going to do some on-site consulting there for a couple months, so I might be able to find out something later this week.

I'd expect Catan to go up. Last week most people were buying blind. This week, you had the demo out to tempt the non-tabletop fans. I wouldn't presume legs just yet.

I think it has a least a bit of staying power, especally in the face of the not so mighty Soltrio Solitaire.

OMG free? Any videos anywhere? How did I miss this announcement?

Gamerblog had a PR of it on Friday but they took it down quickly, probably cause it was dated for May 14th. Someone on SA copied the PR though before it got taken down. No screens or videos but here's the PR:

Xbox LIVE Arcade Intern Project Game “Aegis Wing” Launches This Week as Free Gift to Gamers

REDMOND, Wash. — May 14, 2007 — This Wednesday, team up with up to three of your friends and prepare yourselves for intense side-scrolling, sci-fi shooting action in “Aegis Wing.” Originally conceived by three Microsoft Corp. interns over the course of a summer, “Aegis Wing” will be available for free to all Xbox LIVE® Silver and Gold members in North America for a limited time. “Aegis Wing” will be available for download on Xbox LIVE Arcade for Xbox 360™ beginning Wednesday, May 16, at 2 a.m. PDT.

“Aegis Wing” is a 2-D side-scrolling space shooter that combines epic space combat with fantastic visuals, and is set to a rich symphonic soundtrack. It is set in the year 2105, when humanity must flee a dying Earth for the distant world Europa. But this new home is soon threatened by a powerful alien race, the Araxia. With stolen Araxian technology, the Europa fleet develops an experimental star fighter and assigns four ace pilots to test it. The Aegis Wing is born, and it becomes your mission to wield this new technology as humanity’s last hope for survival.

Up to four players can play together either locally or over Xbox LIVE to defeat waves of nefarious Araxian ships and bosses, and can even combine spacecraft in two-, three- or four-ship formations to access powerful Super Weapons.

“Aegis Wing” was originally conceived by three students – Scott Brodie, Danny Dyer and Matt Monson –during a summer internship at Xbox LIVE Arcade. The students worked in tandem with Carbonated Games – the creators of fan-favorite, UNO® – to bring the game to the Xbox LIVE Arcade community. The full version of “Aegis Wing” is being released on Xbox LIVE Arcade free of charge and will be available for a limited time.

Game Features

Game features include the following:

· Amazing environmental art

· Full symphonic soundtrack

· Up to four-player simultaneous cooperative multiplayer gameplay, either locally on the same Xbox 360 console or over Xbox LIVE*

· Ability to attach your ship to your wingmen’s spacecraft to gain the “turret” ability and increase the firepower of the Super Weapons

· Four Super Weapons: the Hades Beam (wreaks total destruction), the Gorgon Burst (wipes out incoming fire and disables enemy spacecraft with an electromagnetic pulse), the Arcus Missile (a heat-seeking missile) and the Lambda Shield (deflects incoming fire back at enemies)

· Six epic missions and several memorable boss encounters to fight through

Where Can I Get It?

You can download “Aegis Wing” beginning Wednesday, May 16, at 2 a.m. PDT on Xbox LIVE Arcade. “Aegis Wing” will be available for download in North America only. “Aegis Wing” is rated E for Everyone, with Mild Fantasy Violence. More information is available at http://www.xbox.com/games/livearcade.

Yeah I know it's free but hell I just want something to look at cause I'm bored. :/

No but Robot on this forum said it looked "cool" when he saw it from some powerpoint presentation. I guess we'll find out tomorrow. If the PR is real.

:( This sucks; no free game for Euros, I'd pay for it if they'd let me!
Where the hell is Mutant Storm Empire? It hasn't even been listed in the last two upcoming games things :'(

It is sadly interred in development limbo.

That is only thing I can come up with, the game has vanished off of the XBLA radar.

Yeah, did a search for it on the ESRB site, and it hasn't gone through the ESRB yet, assuming this game is still in development. Also, I noticed that Final Doom is on the ESRB site. Don't know how long that's been listed there, but looks like that's coming to 360 as well. Don't know if that's old news or not.

If I recall correctly, that was rated at the same time as Ultimate DOOM being released on the sevice, and it has been brought up before, but still rather unknown.

Why aren't there more PopCap games on Live Arcade?

I want Peggle and I want it yesterday.

This is a very good good question actually, they haven't even announced anything new in recent time. Maybe we can blame it on Greg Cannessa.

Let's not jump to conclusions though, XBLA games are quite media-shy and generally prone to delay.
Tommorow I'm gonna use my contacts to try and phone their offices seeing as they're UK based, for now I've sent an email.

I wish Sega would support XBLA more. They have a pretty good back-catalog and they're not taking advantage of it. I'd like to see Sonic, Streets of Rage, Shinobi, Vectorman, etc. Instead the only game they're bringing out is Happy Tree Friends by the shitty Novadrome developer.... ugh.

SHOTEH FOCK OP said:
So was that Sega Vintage Collection just a hoax?

We are not sure, but I would imagine that the answer is yes, seeing as how nothing was announced at that Segafest last week.

Grecco said:
It doesnt say if that Free Game will have Achievments. :(
If the Burger King games have achievements, this will have achievements.

Awesome they're giving us a free game. Even to Silver members, which I did not expect.

Is this an official PR release or still the leaked one?

Does anyone here know what the hell Hilary over at IGN is talking about? He says that a new "classic game" will be announced today. From his description I'm guessing an old PC game.

Hilary said:
This one actually surprised me. I can only say (yes, I am under NDA) that it's a classic game, but not some cheap quarter-muncher. This is one of the most important games from the '80s and it will come to XBLA with updated graphics.

The announcement should go live Monday morning. We'll have an interview and exclusive trailer when the announcement is released.

I know, I know, stop being such a c$#@ tease, right? Well, I'm just curious what classic 2D games people are hoping to see on XBLA. For me, this is the first "enhanced" classic that looks worth the price. What classics would you like to see on XBLA?

Mario Brothers 3 or Zelda.

Edit: Im hoping its a late 80's game.. that could mean early genesis game.

Those two do not belong together.

Star Wars? Tron?

I wouldn't mind seeing Bubble Bobble myself but I don't think I'd call it one of the most important games of the 80's. Of course this IS IGN we're talking about here so I guess anything is possible.

Hitler Stole My Potato said:
Tron's already been announced.
Has it? I haven't been paying attention to NeoGAF in the past few days, if so sweet. Are we talking about the light cycle or disc throwing game?

I still don't get his clues though. I can't think of anything important from the 80's except for Atari-like type games, which are cheap quarter crunching games.

*Edit: And I doubt it is Tetris because they said they are coming out with that Tetris game for the Xbox360.
