There is entirely too little discussion of Sensi in this thread. We have a release date at last!

sure there's a sensi thread around somewhere.

would be nice to know more details on it but it is ages away

Well, I did make a thread about the release date a couple of days back.

Is 3D Ultra Minigolf really any good? I got the impression from the demo it was pretty lame.
I play it with the wife and kids once in awhile and it's a good time. Other than that it's pretty lame.:D

Have to say I was a little disapointed with Undertow. Guess I didn't read the previews enough. Was really looking forward to a horizontal underwater shooter. It's quite different. Not bad and has some great graphics but not what I was looking forward too. No purchase.

They did the same thing for the PSP versions
How does that matter at all?

It's really lame. It'll be kind of fun for one or two trips around the courses, but all of them have these extremely easy to find and use shortcuts that lead to an instant hole-in-one. When everybody you play with has figured these out, the game just dies. And if only some of your buddies/family/whatever have figured them out while others have not, it'll be beyond frustrating for everybody who hasn't. Very stupid design choice.

Guys, there are like fifty levels for EXIT available for free.

everybody who does not already have it go buy this game now
I decided to put off buying the game until they gave the levels that were supposed to be in there in the first place, so now I'll give the game a second look.

Battlezone? I'd kill for Activision to release the 1998 quasi-RTS remake. I had way more fun playing that then I did with the original.

That "modern" Battlezone was awesome. I wouldn't mind its real granddaddy either: Carrier Command.

My older daughter and my wife play it now and then, as do I. It's pretty simple, but we've had a good time with it. And even bought the expansion pack, which has some great, challenging holes in it. Most of the hole in one shots are kind of tricky.

Boom Boom Rocket update live, joined by five free tunes

Revealed earlier this month, a title update to Xbox Live Arcade's rhythmic detonator Boom Boom Rocket is now available, bringing with it some bug fixes, added peripheral support and, most importantly, bigger and better 'splosions. In addition to supporting dance mats and fake guitars, we've found that the game also works with Rock Band's drum set, yielding an activity both challenging and utterly embarrassing.

Arriving in tandem with the update is the game's long awaited downloadable content, announced by EA to be a set of five new songs:

* "Eine Kleine Rochtmusik"
* "Cannon in D"
* "Sugar High"
* "Sting of the Bumble Bee"
* "Explode to Joy"

Yes, it seems someone's gone and shoved five more classical tunes through some sort of Eurotrash bastardization device, but we managed to enjoy the game despite that last time. Oh, and they're free until December 16th, after which they'll set you back 250 MS Points (an awkward $3 and 12.5 cents).

The levels which were missing when the game was released isn't such a big deal. When it was released, the game had 120 levels. That's enough to call it a full game, that's more levels than the original PSP Exit had when it was released, and it's lot a more levels compared to most other games on XBLA.

I wish the bonus levels had been released right away, but it's really no big deal. But half of them are released now, and I'm guessing the other 50 will be released next month or something.

Anyway, anyone who hasn't tried Exit should definitely check it out. It's probably my favourite game on XBLA, and I would recommend it to anyone who likes a brain teaser type game instead of a twitch based game.

Just got done playing Puzzle Quest and I have to say "WOW". It makes everything else on XBLA (well the demos at least) look like shit. Its probably the most well balanced product on there from what I've seen. I just hope more games in the future are of this quality. It really sets the bar for XBLA.

Just sayin....Exit 1 and 2 for PSP had downloadable levels that were released and staggered over a few weeks. They're just doing the same for the XBLA version

Did someone earlier mention Boom Boom Rocket has support the the Guitar Hero guitar? I might pick up BBR if that is the case. I really want to play some of those new downloadable songs, but I didn't care for the demo so much. If there is a unique guitar control scheme (poor man's GH), I might pick it up.

Excellent. Although I'm wondering one thing. One of the things I loved about previous installments of Chessmaster were the extensive tutorials (voiced too), as well as the huge list of classic matches. Will the XBLA version include these?

EDIT: Okay, that was two things.

Those who have played the PSP/PSN versions, how is Gripshift?

I look forward to trying the new stages for Exit, but I really wish you could mute the voices...

Well fuck I guess noone in here bought the Asteroids collection last night?

I did,but then I've always loved the series.
I even bought the Atari 7800 Asteroids vector update that was released last year.:lol

Anyways - concerning the XBLA release...I dunno about the new overhaul in graphics,sorta distracting more than anything. Often you can't even see whats coming at you with the colorful explotions,I guess I'll just stick to playing the games on their original modes.

Btw-they got the emulation wrong with Asteroids - they didn't even take it upon themselves to add the damn music. The Jaws like bass tune is missing within the game,geez.:(

Abit sloppy but still a solid release.
7/10 for me.

Without the nostalgiac glasses knock it down a point or two I guess.

I totaly forgot about it, will download it and give a try now.

I bought Space Giraffe last night. I fucking love it. It was my first XBLA purchase. I'm looking at Durandal next, but I'm not sure about it.

Yeah, that's the big fuck-up i predicted right there! The explosions are way too big and you can hardly ever see the smaller rocks splitting off. Genius work as always from Stainless.

Played Undertow... I really, really don't get it. From screens I thought it was going to be an old school side scrolling shooter, but what it actually is I don't know.

I saw that picture and immediately my penis exhibited precum.

If only that game, and or others similar from the codemaster catalogue, would go to xbla.

The Oliver twins and Codemasters who both own 50% of the intellectual property have expressed interest in resurrecting the series, although the twins concede;

“ ... if he were ever to make another appearance it would have to be something special ... he would have to compete with the likes of Jak and Daxter and Ratchet & Clank - and those types of games require big budgets and many months of development. If there's a publisher willing to commit to that kind of investment, though, then they can definitely count us in. ”

The Oliver twins's software company, Blitz Games (with the permission of Codemasters) have experimented with their artists to demonstrate what the Dizzy series might look and feel like if revisited (see below) and produced a one minute video clip with an online petition to see if there was consumer interest. The online petition has recently been moved to www.yolkfolk.com.

The creators have also expressed interest in re-releasing the existing titles to handheld platforms such as mobile phones.

It's actually really awesome multiplayer, I bought it last night. I don't know what to call it either, someone I was playing with called it a capture the flag of the NES jaws game.

Having played Bubble Bobble on VC the last couple of days now have me pining for an XBLA version. That game was made for online co-op and leaderboards. Get on it, Taito!

Speaking of which, Taito is somewhat underrepresented on XBLA...

I somehow cannot imagne dizzy in next gen 3d, does not compute.

But I would love to see the 2d games on live, would instantly buy them. Cannot remember each of the game's names but damn some of the pc ones were hard to crack.

see what i did there?

I'm here to beat Shard.

Xbox LIVE Arcade Ends Year with Arcade Hits and Fresh Lineup of Upcoming Titles

Top-Selling Arcade Titles Available Tomorrow at Discounted Prices with Launch of Xbox LIVE Arcade Hits

This week’s Xbox LIVE Arcade Wednesday is coming a day early with the Tuesday, Dec. 4 launch of the Arcade Hits program, offering some of the best-selling Xbox LIVE Arcade games at permanently reduced prices. Timed with the Xbox LIVE Fall Update, Arcade Hits can be found within the Xbox LIVE Arcade section of the new Game Store, making it easier than ever to build a library of great downloadable games. The first games to become Arcade Hits:

· “Bankshot Billiards 2” (PixelStorm). “Bankshot Billiards 2” improves on the original with nine game styles: classic 8-Ball, 9-Ball, Cutthroat, Euro 8-Ball, 14.1 Continuous, 3-Ball, Trick Shots, Time Trial and Golf. The game will be available for 800 Microsoft Points.

· “Lumines LIVE!” (Q Entertainment Inc.). “Lumines LIVE!” is a deep and entertaining game experience, enhanced with vibrant music and newly designed skins that players can custom-select in Skin Edit mode. The game will be available for 800 Microsoft Points.

· “Marble Blast Ultra” (Garage Games). In “Marble Blast Ultra,” players compete against each other by navigating marbles through moving platforms and dangerous hazards, while collecting rare gems and power-up enhancements, in an effort to complete each course in record time. The game is available for 400 Microsoft Points.

· “Small Arms” (Gastronaut Studios). Easy to pick up but hard to put down, “Small Arms” is a frantic multiplayer action game with the feel of an arcade shooter. The game is available at 400 Microsoft Points.

· “Zuma Deluxe” (Oberon Media). Gamers can explore more than 20 realms in Adventure mode and put their skills to the test in this fast-paced puzzle game. The game is available at 400 Microsoft Points.

With free trial downloads for every game and over 100 games to choose from, Xbox LIVE Arcade offers something for every member of the family. Last month, Xbox LIVE Arcade celebrated two major milestones: its 100th title release on Nov. 14 and its two-year anniversary on Xbox 360 on Nov. 22, highlighting the platform’s leadership position as the premier destination for digitally distributed, high-definition original and classic games. The fun continues through the New Year as Xbox LIVE Arcade prepares to release several new titles in the coming weeks:

· “Arkadian Warriors” (Sierra Online). Gamers can play as one of three heroic shape-shifting warriors embarking on a trek of epic proportions to release the Land of Arkadia from the evil Gorgon’s stony gaze. An original title on Xbox LIVE Arcade, “Arkadian Warriors” features treacherous dungeons where cooperative hack-and-slash role-playing action enhances a deep single-player storyline. The game includes a robust LIVE-enabled cooperative multiplayer mode for two players online or on the same console.

· “Brain Challenge” (Gameloft). An entertaining brain training program, “Brain Challenge” boosts brain activity and helps players develop stress-management skills thanks to a wide variety of games. A personal coach helps players develop their abilities in several areas of cognitive function, including logic, math, memory and visual thinking, in a fun and entertaining way.

· “GripShift®” (Sidhe Interactive). Through a mix of sky-high platforming and stunt driving, “GripShift” combines automotive and puzzle-solving skills across 120 challenge levels, 25 rubber-burning racetracks and 20 deadly Deathmatch arenas. Gamers can zoom to victory with four players over Xbox LIVE or race solo, all while enjoying a customizable music experience.

· “N+” (Slick Entertainment and Metanet Software Inc.). Gamers can play as an acrobatic ninja in this addictive action-puzzle platformer. “N+” features inadvertently homicidal robots, stylish graphics, a level editor and intense multiplayer awesomeness.

· “Omega Five” (Hudson Entertainment). “Omega Five” is a next-gen, high-definition shooter with awe-inspiring graphics. Gamers can fly through dangerous 3-D environments in this side-scroller and do battle with enemies that come at them from all sides, even the background. “Omega Five” comes to Xbox LIVE Arcade this winter.

· “Poker Smash” (Void Star Creations). Players will experience a whole new puzzle game with a poker twist as “Poker Smash” delivers stunning visuals and radical features such as super-slow motion and card-blasting bombs. Gamers should get ready for a fast-paced innovative game with amazing HD graphics and a custom soundtrack that will blow them away!

· “Rez HD” (Q Entertainment). The psychedelic, cult-classic shooter created by Tetsuya Mizuguchi, “Rez HD” makes its way onto Xbox LIVE Arcade early next year. A frenetic, wire-frame adventure backed by industrial beats, the story of “Rez HD” takes players deep into the world’s computer network, where they must hack the system, alter the visual output and take over the music, creating their own rhythms and eye candy as they dig deeper into the cyberworld.

· “Sensible World of Soccer” (Codemasters). The game that inspired a generation, “Sensible World of Soccer” lets players experience both the classic and modern HD version. With multiple play modes, they can play a quick game, start a career mode, manage a team or take part in their own Champions league.

More than 100 games are now available on Xbox LIVE Arcade, including dozens of original intellectual properties and classic titles updated for this generation. Specific game information about each title will be available on http://www.xbox.com in the coming weeks.

Zuma and Marble Blast are steals at 400 points.

Rez coming in the "next few weeks"? Niiiicccceeee.

Interesting. Shane mentioned it was "very early 08," along with the PR. If it's earlier, even better, but I'm guessing it will be in the first set of releases in 08. And what a way to kick things off.

I own all the price drops too, might go back to replaying some.

Man the list of upcommers is great, Sensi (woot! FINALLY!), Rez, N+, Gripshift and Omega Five (tho no online so-op sniff!)

Gona be a big spend spree again

Poker Smash looked interesting and has promise from the previews.

Brain Age Challenge I have heard nothing about, expecting PC style nastly Brain Age rip tho if done right could be a buy but then why have we not seen anything on it hmm... and Arkadian Warriors??? I have no clue, Sierra and online co-op (brawler) has me on the look for more info.

Stinkles: its the same as the PopCap PC one Tho I think that is Delux also (or maybe is because the 360 has boarded widescreen :D) , thats the one game I managed to get everyone hooked on, so much fun, tho later levels destroy you.

A friend of mine played Arkadian Warriors and was saying good things about it. I think it's a mixture between Gauntlet Legends and a poor man's Diablo.

Eggo said:

Your friend is on crack. Arkadian is decidedly mediocre.

Mediocre game by Sierra on XBLA? Unpossible! (Switchball and Carcassonne not included in sarcasm.)
