Well, "magic hour" has come and gone and there has been no word what if any new XBLA games will be uploaded this week, what this means, well, from what I have gathered, the dual launching of the Arcade Greatest Hits and Xbox Originals programmes tomorrow seems to be all the activity this week, in short it looks like there are no new Xbox Live Arcade games to be released this week.
Thats alright I guess. I'll probably pick up Exit, Undertow, and Psychonauts this week. :D

I hope they make up for this by having Gripshift, Sensible Soccer and Rez coming out on time. That's all I want. Instant purchases easily.

The Arcade Hit program (permanent price reduction on some Arcade titles) launches on Tuesday this week. The first titles out of the gate are:

*snip list of XBLA Hits*

Edit: Yes, this is the Arcade ‘release’ this week. There is no game release on Wednesday.

Anyone got the 10 games free codes ? One of these days they should sent me my email :(

I haven't found anybody who bought a 360 after oct 15. Neither here (tho the thread was barely read), or at work (nobody replied to my email anyway). I find that hard to believe, as after the price drop, 360 sales increased.

So I'm concluding nobody likes to be my friend :(

Another disappoint week for the Arcade. I don't think I'll be picking up any of the arcade hits.

I want a new 4 player co-op game that doesn't suck. :(

We have been informed that GripShift has now passed cert and will be coming out as scheduled in December.

Mario, how long ago did you guys start Gripshift for XBLA?

From some earlier posts in this thread (or the GripShift thread), we have been intending to get GripShift onto XBLA since early last year. In terms of actual production, I believe we started around March this year.

And can you tell us how much it'll be?

I can't reveal that at this point (have been asked to keep that under wraps). However, it will be priced competitively and I'm sure in line with expectations of people here.

How is the XBLA different from all the other versions?

Only high level changes have been explicitly revealed at this point which are the inclusion of Deathmatch Mode. If you watch the trailer you can see some other changes. There are a number of other smaller tweaks and additions.

800 it is, then. I just hope you remembered to turn on V-Sync. :lol

The problem with having vsync on is that if there is a framerate drop, it becomes way more pronounced, and can affect gameplay.

There is some tearing in 4 player, so you'll want to wait for impressions if you feel that might be a problem.

Tell me Mario, is the entire "keep quiet about our release until near release" thing entirely the Dev, publisher, or Microsoft themselves? Sometimes it just seems absurd, while at the same time a game like Castle Crashers has the most hype of any DLC release.

Thanks for answering my questions :)

Interesting that its gone from March - December production time.

I'll probably pick this up when I get some points :)

The release of information and media leading up to the release of the game can be driven by all 3 parties. Though in the case of retail games, the developer usually has limited, if any, say.

In this case, we consulted with Microsoft who have an approach they like to follow. It doesn't match exactly how we would like to roll things out, but we were prepared to compromise and hopefully it works out well.

Nice try but it is actually a pretty busy week in between the Arcade hits and the Xbox Originals.

I have to concur with him for now (never was a fan of the VC rom-dump model), but I think early 2008 is going to be amazing.

Anyway, this week may be a bust as far as new releases goes, bu there shall be at least one game next week.

Next Week's Release: Arkadian Warriors

The holiday release schedule has begun to solidfy. We already knew that Sensible World of Soccer was coming on December 19th. Now comes word that Sierra Online's dungeon crawler Arkadian Warriors will be out next week on December 12th.

Check out the official site here and see the "ship date" for yourself. (Sidenote: can you call it a ship date if nothing is physically being shipped?) If this turns out anything remotely similar to Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II (which I played obsessively) then I'll be logging plenty of time in this game.

Two titles down, now how about the rest of 'em? Hopefully there are still some surprises along the way too.

I purchased Exit. I was gonna do it eventually, so even though I'm too busy for it, I grabbed it. Still a lot of stages missing even with the 1st pak being out, but they'll come eventually.

And after having 6000+ points and going "I'm never gonna spend all this", the purchase of Exit brings me down to 450 points. Craziness, I hope I get some points online for Christmas. Also, the cost of points for Canadians is still $7.75 for 500 points. Come on we're at parity and the US pays $1.50 less. They're literally ripping us off $6 for every 2000 points sold.

I'm starting to wonder how MS is going to do the releases/announcements of hits/originals and not affect arcade sales. I know that Originals may be regarded as different but just say Originals come out every Tuesday imo it'll affect the sale on a Wednesday as spending 2000pts (on average 1200 + 800) a week is a little too much for the casual/arcade regulars.

Me personally I liked having nibbles of Arcade games to play once a week/2 weeks depending on the releases but now in place of buying one two arcade games I'll look to buy an original. (This week Psychonauts :D)

We will not know that till Microsoft tells us.

Yeah. I read "dungeon crawler" and leaned forward so fast in my chair I lost balance and nearly faceplanted in the keyboard. :lol

I've been wanting an old-school dungeon crawl/hack'n slash for a while now. Yay!

(I was about to break out Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance II again. Heck, I still might.)

PRESS RELEASE: Gameloft Expands Brain Challenge for Xbox LIVE Arcade
Press release supplied by Games Press 09:27 (GMT) 04/12/2007

New York, NY - Gameloft®, a leading publisher and developer of video games for mobile phones, today announced that it is bringing its tremendously popular Brain Challenge game to the Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Xbox LIVE® Arcade is the premier destination for digitally distributed, high-definition original and classic games.

“The tremendous growth of mass-market, casual games coupled with the massive consumer acceptance of gaming platforms such as Xbox LIVE Arcade, has opened up a significant opportunity for Gameloft,” said Gonzague de Vallois, senior vice president of Publishing, Gameloft. “Xbox LIVE Arcade is the perfect vehicle for us to expand our presence with players of all types.”

“We at Microsoft are excited at the prospect of expanding our gaming catalogue to include one of Gameloft’s best sellers,” said Jeremy Wacksman, Product Manager of Xbox LIVE Marketing. “Gameloft’s reputation and standard of excellence in the casual gaming space precedes them and Brain Challenge is a welcome addition to Xbox LIVE Arcade.”

Released on mobile carrier decks in 2006, Brain Challenge has achieved sales of 1.5 million units to date, and continues to be ranked in the top downloads on carrier decks more than a year after initial release. The sales success is further driven by the launch of Brain Challenge vol. 2 Stress Management which complements the original game.

Brain Challenge will be available to challenge the skill and intellect of players on Xbox LIVE Arcade in early 2008. Brain Challenge boosts brain activity and helps players develop stress-management skills thanks to a wide variety of games. A personal coach helps players develop their abilities in several areas of cognitive function, including logic, math, memory and visual thinking, in a fun and entertaining way.

In addition to Xbox Live Arcade, Brain Challenge will soon be available on iPod, Nintendo DS and PC. This will be the first ever multi-platform launch of a casual brand from a mobile game publisher. Each game will be specially formatted and adapted to complement each unique platform to ensure the best consumer experience.

The mobile game version is available now across most U.S. carriers.

I got today an email saying that they are printing (huh?) my free codes for the 10 games of the promotion, they'll sent me an email shortly. :D

Gametrailers.com recently uploaded a couple of trailers for two of the more understated XBLA games coming in the near future, enjoy.

Poker Smash

Schizoid
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/28542.html

Poker Smash: I love(d) poker, and the gameplay looks like simple fun. It will probably end up being a buy.

Schizoid: I had to watch the trailer twice to really understand what was going, and ever after the the second viewing I'm still a bit baffled. I could tell it was co-op, but other than that....I'll have to try the trial out.

Shard, you are so damn reliabe <3 kudos to all the info you bring.

Latest XBLA list from Major Nelson:

Top Arcade Titles (Full Versions)
1 - Asteroids & Deluxe
2 - Sonic The Hedgehog 2
3 - UNO
4 1 Undertow
5 8 Bomberman LIVE
6 - TMNT 1989 Arcade
7 - Worms
8 - Geometry Wars Evolved
9 - Tetris Splash
10 - Street Fighter II' Hyper Fighting
The arcade list is based on full versions purchased.

Lots of old titles making a re-appearance. I guess that means lots of new 360 owners.

1Up.com holds a mini-preview of Girpshift.

http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3164773

GripShift will soon make its third appearance in the digital-download realm. Previously released for PSP and on PlayStation Network, the game is now making its way over to Xbox Live Arcade. The stunt car puzzler -- think Marble Blast with four wheels and more nitro -- is largely unchanged, so casual fans of the Sony versions may not find enough reason to buy it for a second or third time. Regardless, numerous tweaks to the tracks have been made thanks to user feedback, letting developer Sidhe adjust the challenge while lowering the unfairness. And there will be new courses (with the possibility of more to come), achievements, and an online deathmatch mode.

I've been thinking of downloading Fable, are the backward compatibility issues bad? I know it says audio popping / static on the official site, but when exactly does it occur, is it regularly, like every five minutes, or only in special places etc. ?

Sorry if this is the wrong thread, but I couldn't think of a better place.

Pirates vs. Ninjas sounds like a slam dunk for gamer geeks everywhere, but after watching the video, I think it looks pretty iffy. Hopefully it's good. There are lots of good concepts in gaming that get ruined by bad execution (put the "Ninjabread Man" concept in the right developer's hands and that could have been on every gamer's Christmas list).

Just downloaded Undertow last night and I must say it is probably my favorite XBLA game right now. The multiplayer is fantastic fast paced fun, although people really don't play it online.

The art and audio are great pieces of work too.
