Axiom: Overdrive screens and mini-interview

The screenshot that we have shows a top-down view, correct? And the object at the center is what the player controls?
Side-view. The object is called an O.T.F. (Orbital Thrust Frame).
The IGF entry alludes to "physics-based gameplay". Another game on XBLA that focuses on physics is the Unreal 3-powered RoboBlitz. RoboBlitz focuses on weapons that are used to solve physical puzzles and battle enemies. How does Axiom differentiate itself from that? Is your ship the key means of affecting the physical environment? Would you consider Axiom more of a puzzle game or an action game?
Like many indie games, the gameplay of Axiom Overdrive is innovative and as such, we're not ready to fully divulge details yet.
You mentioned that the game has been cooking for a while now. When was the first seed of the game planted? And how long has focused development been underway on Axiom?
Seed? Hmm... a 1-day prototype was put together in early 2003. When Wik was completed for XBLA, we came back to the 1-day prototype and began pre-production on Axiom.
What is the primary mode of control for the game (e.g., twin-sticks)?
Again, a bit early to divulge, but it's not Geometry Wars controls, if you were wondering.
The tagline on the website (yes, I noticed) is "Fly Fast, Fly Strong!" Care to elaborate on it at all?
The game is about speed and skill.
Reflexive has a strong PC portfolio, so what facet of the DNA/architecture attracted you as a studio to the Xbox 360 and Xbox Live Arcade?
We've made downloadable games for a long time and we focus on making games we care about. Our passions overlap well with XBLA's strive for playable "out of the box" titles. The games we are passionate to make have an audience that is excited to play them on XBLA. Wik was very successful for us, on XBLA, making us excited to continue following our passions on the Xbox 360.
A big thanks to Russell Carroll for making me want to shake the real answers out of him (he's just too good at his job) and to Tony "Twitchfactor" Barnes for the screens.
