How close am I to the end? I'm currently at around 15 hours on the clock.
Tabris said:I'm really hating disc 2
Give me hope it gets better. At least I heard the ending is good.
It's just so weird when they introduce characters to fight, they give them a 1 minute intro, then you fight them, then that's it. No cutscene on their death. They just disappear.
I mean some of these characters seem interesting, but they're not giving any development for them.
Disc 1 was SO good too![]()
dark10x said:Yes, there is a strategy you are missing.
Try this...
First of all, figure out what "breaks" the boss (I think it is CCBB). I'd say, have KOS-MOS in your party and stock up. Then, using another character, do a CC attack and immediately boost and choose KOS-MOS. Then, execute a BB attack along with all possible circle attacks. You can also have another character stocked up ready to boost into battle and continue the beat down. You want to get him in the air and break his defense. It just comes down to finding the weakpoints and setting up huge combos. If done right, you will be able to wipe the floor with this guy very quickly.
The US version had some of the best VA dubs of any RPG to date, and by contrast Episode II's cast comes off as amaturish at best.

Tabris said:Here's my opinion (WARNING!! End game spoilers in that link!!) on the story/characters/dialogue for the game.
AniHawk said:Maybe it's a spoiler (if it has to do with the end of the game, no one tell me, please), but what the hell happened to the Gnosis? Did the Song of Nephilim kill 'em in Episode I or something (it's been a couple years)?
But is he also supposed to sound like this is his first acting job ever? Although I will admit, the voices are starting to grow on me (just got to the final dungeon).Tabris said:Canaan is supposed to be emotional-less.
Tabris said:It almost feels like the first disc of Xenosaga Episode II should have been the end of Xenosaga Episode I, and the second disc of Xenosaga Episode II should have been fleshed out to compromise the entire game.
I think that's what happened. They were making Episode I, then Namco must have rushed them or the release date came up too quick, so they cut what they had done and released it. Then they added the rest of Episode I unto Episode II, so with a good chunk of game added, they just kinda rushed through parts of Episode II that weren't meant to be rushed.
Bebpo said:Yep. Ep2 is short and packed with filler because they took the final 10-15 hours cut from ep1 (most likely due to budget and time) and had to expand it to at least a 25 hour game.
the XSep1+2 we are playing really = XSep1 of 6 in the original design.
haha is this documented? This really explains a lot..Bebpo said:Yep. Ep2 is short and packed with filler because they took the final 10-15 hours cut from ep1 (most likely due to budget and time) and had to expand it to at least a 25 hour game.

Tabris said:By the way, if you're "wearing bosses down". You're sucking at the battle system.
The battle system is set up for huge damage air/down juggles with mad boosting. So you prep (stock) and heal for that moment, then you go absolutely crazy (timing so when you're air/down juggling someone, you're doing it on the boost icon.
That boss should only need 3 air/down juggles.

All my guys are lvl 30 or about there.
Tabris said:As a complete game? It's worse. For seperate moments? It's one of the best story-driven games I've ever played.
...really?! my guys were like level 31 at the end of the game. I rushed my playthrough to concentrate on story only though. It was a lot more challenging and exciting that way.
Miburou said:So, cloudy, Anihawk and Tabris, do you find the game to be better than Xenosaga I or worse?
Cloudy said:I prefer the battle system and leveling in the first one better but so far (Female boss in the stronghold), I'm enjoying the game. I wish they hadn't listened to the whiners and reduced the number/length of cutscenes though >_<
teh_pwn said:Ok, I started yesterday, and I just hit disc 2. I don't understand why this is rated so much lower than the first. The music is a bit worse in composition and quality, but at least there's plenty to go around.
I'm so abusing the very first part of disc 2. With the solo battles with Shion, I've gotten from level 22 to level 35 in like an hour.

I beat the game. It's a good thing I had a Rejuvinator E vs. Patriarch. My party was KOS-MOS, Jin, and Jr. the entire battle, and at one point, the latter two were killed off (when Patriarch had 5555 HP left). The fight vs. Albedo was bittersweet, because the scenes leading up to it and the VA was SO good. However, it sucked because I thought he was the best character of both Episode I and II, and the Rubedo/Albedo relationship was the best part going about the story. Good ending, but a little bit short.
So now they've: revealed MOMO's past, revealed Jr.'s past. They still need to cast the full light on the Jin/Margulis thing (though we know Margulis probably killed Grandpa Uzuki), why Shion is important, what the deal with chaos is, and what's so special about KOS-MOS. Oh, and Ziggy's past.. that'll need to be explained a bit further.
Honestly, and I'm disappointed in saying this: I doubt everything will finish up in Episode III. I was hoping that maybe Episode III would conclude this arc and then we could have 3 games set in Xenogears. I hope the game connects to Xenogears at all. Still looks like it could go either way at this point.
