Oh why not?!! Show some love for the Super Scope!

What was that game where one player controlled Yoshi, the other controlled Mario with the Super Scope? That game rocked.

Edit: Thank you Unison.

That pic brings back memories. I got that game for my birthday, I was so happy but the problem was that I only got the game and not the gun. So that kinda sucked. Only game I ever traded-in.

Shit... I never got Yoshi's Safari (speaking of Yoshi games!)

I remember about.. 8 years back I found all my Super Scope shit and set it up and just had a blast with Battle Clash (still one of my all time faves!) and those 6 wonderful games that came with the gun.

The Super Scope was actually the first time the family and I (Yes... ENTIRE FAMILY) played a game together. We'd make teams and play the missle shooting game. Oh the memories! THANK YOU SUPER SCOPE!

Super Scope was more fun to watch than to actually play. I saw it for the first time on the Nintendo Tour '92 when the Super NES was shown for the first time in Europe. I thought it looked really cool. Hence, once it arrived, I put down around what equals about 100 eur only to realize that the Super Scope 6 games were boring as hell. I had some good moments with Battleclash, however.

The best thing in the Super Scope to me was that the European version had a red fire button instead of the US purple one, and the Super Famicom four dot logo instead of the US stroke logo. It was cool to get a customized device after Mario Paint had a mouse with a purple button, totally inappropriate for Europe.

Btw, any European gamers remember the Nintendo Scoremaster - the coolest arcade style joystick from Nintendo for Super NES, almost like a follower to NES Advantage ? I think it was never released in the US, but I know the us Nintendo Helpline guys used them. That was one sweet joystick for TMHT Tournament Fighters and Super Street Fighter II.

It was the LAST time the family and I played together.

Why only have a poorly supported console light gun....

when you can have a poorly supported console light gun with ASSORTED ATTACHABLE CRAP?

Sega does what Nintendon't

They both look pretty excessive to me.

The scope was a nice clean design IMO. Not at all realistic or anything, or attempting to be slick - but it was nice. My younger brothers chewed the crap out of the plastic aiming reticule thing though... was Menacer for both lefties and right-handers like the Scope was?

I still love the old NES blaster. That was a light gun in the true sense of the word. The screen flashed as you shot and that had something to do with how the gun worked. It wasn't as complex as something like a Gun Con which needs calibrating...

...and it was bright red!!

Mine wasn't. I had the original one with the NES color scheme.

One of the main reasons I kept my Super Scope besides Metal Combat was for the port of Terminator 2: The Arcade Game. Except that the game would become all washed out so that the light gun could detect it. Ended up playing with the controller instead.

Oh man. Super Scope rocks. I still have mine. I played through Yoshi's Island a few months ago to get a credit roll for Shikamaru Ninja, but there was none that I could find.

I love the story of how back in the early 90's, in front of Congress, Nintendo was talking trash about Sega, due to the Mortal Kombat situation, and said they only make game suitable for all ages, so the Sega rep pulled out the Super Scope, which totally shut the Nintendo guy up.

Quite frankly...

This gen MISSES a highly supported gun accessory.

Families WILL be brought together in then shadow of a new Super Scope. (at least in the South ;) )

Eh? Guncon 2 works with Time Crisis 2 and 3, Virtua Cop, Ninja Assault and whatever more games Namco and Sega cooked up recently. Isn't that already a bit more than the Super Scope ever got?

Yeah. These guns came out during the height of the "videogames are evil/mortal kombat" crap the media and congress were going apeshit for. They had to make the guns in ways that looked nothing like a traditional gun, so we got the Super Scope 6 and the ... Sega one.

My mom was hooked....HOOKED...to the SS6. By the time it came out she was already a seasoned Super Mario Bros. and Tetris fanatic, but i was truely surprised with how much she played my SS6. She was pretty good too. For me, it had some pretty nice music. The missle shooting game, Blastris A(the one with the zodiac signs in the background), molepatrol...even the calibration screen.

The Superscope was great, and I was totally addicted to battleclash. I would try to do speedruns with my friends and shit :(

Same here.
I was playing Mario Paint with my SNES mouse last night, so I guess tonight, I will bust out the Super Scope and relive my childhood.

I don't have my Mario Paint with mouse anymore. :( A long, long time ago my mom gave it to the kids of a friend of her's. I never got it back. That was....10-12 years ago. :(

Ouch. That sucks. I saw one my local independent store along with a copy of Mario Paint for 20 bucks. I may just pick it up so I can have another set. It doesn't come with the mousepad though. I tried using the mousepad with my optical mouse and it's terrible :lol

It's one of those titles I keep meaning to get again.....yet once in a great while II'll see a copy of it with the mouse (no mousepad) at Gamestop. The mousepad it came with was great.

I do have my Power Glove still, though. :D Never could get it to calibrate work correctly, but it was fun. :D

Yeah that mousepad is awesome. It works perfectly with a trackball mouse. I love the color pallete as well. If you see one at gamestop for a reasonable price, you should definetly pick it up.

Zapper>>>Super Scope

Seriously, my parents got me that gun along with the system and I have to say, I wish they got me an additional game instead of that big, clunky, shoulder bruising thing.

In other mindless comparisons,

Grey Zapper>Red Zapper

What was the name of that Sega peripheral that let you stand in an eight-way sensor and "play" fighting games using your hands and feet?

Sega activator. I have one, complete with the tape that shows you how to calibrate it. I never got it to work properly tho

I bought a Super Scope off of Ebay a couple of years ago. I have never actually played it because it requires thirty batteries and the soul of an orphan to run, but I do not regret my purchase. One day, I hope to live in a place that has a fireplace so that I can hang it over the mantle.

Oh man, that's an awesome idea. If somebody tries to rob your house, you can threaten them with the Super Scope. :lol

Activator was such a terrible idea. Terrible.

BTW... I'm really diggin the Scope over the fireplace idea... perhaps a RE4 director's cut should including this in the game? ...but in plain view... always in plain view.

Battle Clash was badass, and I always wanted to play Metal Combat: Falcon's Revenge, but never got around to it.

Those would be interesting IP's to see brought into the current generation. They would probably make some nifty NDS games, actually.
