Ok, I got to know: How does one get custom member status on GAF?

This. Fishing for tags for making stupid posts is risky and you will end up banned a few times most likely, however, so I'd go with being exceptional.
Mine was fun to get though. Yes it was something stupid, but I kind of thought the repetition of Fig eating ape jokes was getting to be a bit much in that PoliGAF thread. So I broke the chain in a really dumb way. Though it did kind of encourage me to kick up the stupid a few notches. It gave me a gimmick. Like being a genetically altered golden lion tamarin monkey wasn't gimmick enough.

My fourteen year old self would have been really proud. In a realm of childish pursuits shedding one was a little liberating though. Since, some of you have gotten to know me, the actual me. Generally asexual, but can see the beauty in both men and women. A few gender identity issue floating around. Intensely interested in gaming software and hardware. With enough free time to watch through five new TV shows in the past year. While going through and rewatching old. I occasionally paint. Though I don't think I've put anything on the net. Haven't put anything up in years at least.

Wannabe indie game dev with modest modeling capabilities and very limited programming. Ideas I know would work I can't get down concretely. Even with generally helpful programs like Unity. I can get the basics running but get tripped adding flourish. My mind is usually scattered either through my choice of medication, or other undiagnosed reasons.

But mainly I try to be nice. Even when I rarely eviscerate an argument. I try to be kind about it. Since this is text you actually have to really watch for that. Even modest criticisms can come across as angry. That's if you want someone to actually read your argument. If you're just trying to piss off someone that's easy. Hyperbole is key. It can't be "That was a disappointing sequel after the sublime predecessor." it is "Fucking worst ever!" or some other clever variant.

I like words so this post could go on for a lot longer if I let it so I'm just gonna post it before I continue talking about whatever else enters my brain.

We need variations on Member. So it says Mebmer or Mbemer or something.

Like Mobot.

Waaaay ahead of you.

Might be hard to see at first but the r in my member is actually bolded.

Being given 'Membre' Or 'Mebmer" would be so worse than being Juniored. If you're even slightly OCD it would make you squirm. I didn't even like writing it out.

Edit:

Or 'Junior Mebmer' ... *shudders*

Yes, but I'll be honest both the avy change and the attitude change was much needed. I'd been the crass oversexed monkey for years. Across four forums. Part of it had to do with me not feeling like I could keep pace with the intelligentsia of GAF that I latched back onto an old habit.

The other is... well... attention seeking validation. I've never really made a mark anywhere. High school, college, or the years after. I was serious when I said I was a social recluse. The only time I'd talk through most of my life was when forced to. And I was a nervous wreck. Though get me alone with friends and I couldn't shut up. I was the nerd explaining exactly what parallax scrolling was and why it wasn't just a buzzword.

Then I met the internet and message boards. Starting with Xbox365 culminating in GAF. All the years of repression and I'd finally found a way to make myself heard. Being young that was mainly through random humor of a sexual nature. Since finding this form of outlet I have changed for the better. I'm not nervous about being in front of people as much. Even doing stand up comedy when drunk at a local bar. It was a trainwreck, but fun.

I look back on it and I wouldn't change much about my time here. I've had fun, met some awesome people along the way and hopefully have grown a bit.

I can relate to that. There are some heavyweights on here that you just can argue with, unless you gots a PHD in arguing. ;)

We all have to find our voice I suppose. Sometimes its in a joke character. Although even in the jokiest of times yours was never that bad, you were amusing.

I noticed the change in your posts a few years ago and enjoy them. But we all have to mature into a silverback at some point, can't hang out on the edge of the group flinging poo forever... :/

I still don't know exactly what tag dishing is but apparently making a thread to ask is a no-no :(

OP, if it helps, you could always do what I do when feeling down or lonely... I like to press F12 and edit the webpage code to add responses to my posts. I screen capture it and can relive the many fun conversations me and my fellow Gaffes have had.

I think this method may work for you. You could even change your name color and ban people who you find offensive like a real administrator... capture a screenshot and relive it again as many times as necessary. It feels good man..

I think I would hate having a custom tag, because I would most likely want to change it to something else, like I do with my avatars frequently, but I wouldn't be able to.

And one without text for future miscellaneous use

Just always liked the avatar and saw a good opportunity to do something with it.

Though it's Baccus, it always reminded me of 100 Bullets. That and I like Thanos.

Edit: haha I also have this post number (776) tattooed on me as a humble reminder that I'm not perfect haha. Wonder if that's a cosmic judgement of my work...

It's funny because you'll make some genuine contributions to the community or make first posts that are post-of-the-year worthy without getting one, but then one day some completely unremarkable comment on page 80 of a random thread will get you tagged.

I'm no SunhiLegend but I did my best...

Bravo sir, bravo.

It's funny because you'll make some genuine contributions to the community or make first posts that are post-of-the-year worthy without getting one, but then one day some completely unremarkable random comment on page 80 of a boring thread will get you tagged.

Thankfully, we're only on Page 16 and the thread is just about running out of steam.

Hmm, Creed? That's gotta be "something dumb" and "something incredibly funny" in combination with being a good and active member of the community, you got that tag. But didn't you have a different one before that?
I had "Poligaf 2012 Co-Champion" for a while, and then it was back to being a member.
