OK, I'm getting a DS today.

I can find it. I'm going to be careful not to get too many games at once with the DS, though, like I have with every other system I own. Besides, Prime Pinball rocks. I haven't had this much fun in YEARS.

There aren't many games to worry about making bad choices on

Just buy the games I told you to

you've really got me interested in metroid pinball now, especially since you said you enjoy hotshots golf as much as i do in that other thread.

i agree with you too about not owning/playing too many games at a time. sure, if i had more cash i'd probably be tempted to buy games more frequently, but having a couple of games to play at a time can result in some really deep, fun gaming (if the games you've got are any good, of course).

enjoy your ds.

My gold standard for pinball is Pinball Dreams on the Amiga. I've played a lot of pinball games since then, and some of them were really quite good, but MP Pinball is the first one I've played that not only matches that old classic, but blows it out of the water definitively. It's a tremendous game.

i read a review (ign or gamespot, can't remember which) that said one of the bad things about the game is that there are only 2 tables in the single player mode--is that true? can't be...

To begin with, you just have two, but you unlock a lot more. I'm already up to 4.

There's a rumour that they're going to announce a redesign today, so you might want to hold on a few hours. If it's true, we should know something within the next 4 hours or so. I'm well excited for Metroid Pinball too - I've heard nothing but praise for it and the TV ads make it look awesome. It looks like a game I'll have to play on some bass-heavy headphones.

This is a hard game, especially without an effective tilt, but I feel compelled to play the tables over and over until I get the elusive 12 artifacts to move on to the next level... (which I haven't managed yet. My chops will come back to me, but I need a couple of days to warm up..)

I am thinking of getting a DS, pissed that i can't find a 360. Already have a psp, wonder what it would be like to be a doubleagent.

Now I have Phoenix Wright, but my brother is hogging the machine. Grrr... we haven't had to fight over a system since we got the Genesis. :lol

Whahuh.

Guess this one gets bumped back up my "buy" list.

(Anyone looking to sell a used copy? :))

I have been playing Phoenix Wright for five hours now. All I have to say is WOW. I'm up to the part where
Phoenix is arrested
. I don't know how much longer this game is going to be - and I don't want to know. I'm so hooked that I'll probably finish it tonight anyway.

You have a long way to go, not that that's bad.

Glad you're liking it. Phoenix Wright is definitely one of the most hilarious games I've ever played. I was laughing almost non-stop while playing it. Can't wait for more.

I'm not just laughing, though - it has me in suspense, sweating, heart racing.. I didn't expect to get that from the DS, of all the systems out there! The only gripe I have is that the recycled animations have gotten old already.

damnit, sonarrat--another game you're playing that i'm really interested in getting.

i came thisclose to getting my ds today but they didn't have the color i wanted :D

i'm going to get 2 games to start--mario kart is definitely a get, but i'm really, really torn now between metroid pinball, animal crossing, and phoenix wright. i still have my old copy of ouendan from when i had my previous ds but i want a couple others to jump into.

Not that I feel this should influence you, but I am not going to be getting Animal Crossing. I gave the GCN version several rentals and Gamecrazy trials, but I just kept getting weirded out. There's something.. not right about it. :lol

what do you mean? how did you get weirded out?

I've seen some really strange opening sequences (Cubivore and Katamari Damacy come to mind), but Animal Crossing's actually scares me. I can't put my finger on exactly why.

Always nice to see another Phoenix Wright convert :D You ain't seen NOTHING yet!

I've been trying to get all my DS-owning friends to experience the joy that is Phoenix Wright. They've all loved it, and it's great fun to watch as they go through the game enjoying every moment of it. And yes, the game gets only better as it goes on.

Best part of all (don't read, Sonnarat):
The Parrot interrogation! I almost died.

I picked up Phoenix Wright yesterday. Fuck awesome total.

Mario Kart DS doesn't do it for me (I got the bundle so it only cost me 20 bucks so I'm not that mad), Castlevania DoS is somewhat of a disappointment compared to AoS (Have not played Julius mode yet though), but Phoenix Wright is fantastic. On the 3rd case right now and am having a blast. So cool. Trauma Center is next on my pickup list.

For what it's worth, the DS games I've loved so far are: Castlevania: DoS, Phoenix Wright, Mario & Luigi: PiT, Metroid Prime Pinball (which came as a total shock), Trauma Center (which I loved playing even though it kicked my ass), and Trace Memory (which I wouldn't recommend to everyone, just because of how short it is versus the price, but I enjoyed it a lot).

Advance Wars was fun, but it's not really my style -- I'm more waiting for Fire Emblem DS. I've got Battles of Prince of Persia, but haven't given it much play time yet, and I still want to spend a bit more time with Lost in Blue (it came out right at the same time as Trauma Center and Phoenix Wright, and so I barely touched it).

Nevertheless, I'm really happy with the number of awesome games for the system so far.

i'm leaning towards phoenix wright so i'll pick it up if i can find it or i'll get a copy on ebay. i'm trying to sell a copy of doa4 too, hopefully if i sell it i can pick up metroid pinball or animal crossing.

:lol :lol :lol

The whole game is hilarious. I think I'm near the end of the game.
I'm doing the Lana Skye trial. I finished the first day in court and now I have to give a salsbury steak lunch to Jake Marshall. The problem is that I can't find him! Right now this trial does not feel like it should be part of the game, but the amount of times that I've been stumped by it are more than all the other chapters put together. Being able to "check" evidence is cool too.

Hey I have heard that the Japanese version has an option to change it all to english? Does anyone know if this is true? If so I might go pick it up today.

Yup. Actually importing it may be the best way to get the game if you don't already have it. I can't find it anywhere and it's been removed from Capcom.com's website.

Has a second one come out yet for the DS in Japan?

I reccomend Lost in BLue and Phoenix Wright, cause they are now "Discontinued" which makes them uber rare now ;)

I saw a bunch of copies of Lost in Blue at Best Buy last week. Are you sure it's rare? And how's the game?

This thread makes me sad... I had the perfect chance to get Phoenix Wright, and I passed it up. I had it in my head that I wanted Meteos. Still haven't been able to get Meteos... Since when did it become rare? But now I don't know if I should get Meteos or PW... Not that it matters, cause the copy that was at the store is gone now.

Ah good. I am in Japan right now so I will pick it up in the next few days.

I know how you feel. I held Meteos in my hands sometime before Christmas but I got Trauma Center instead. I haven't seen Meteos since.

edit: Thanks ethelred.

Oh really? Damn that sucks. I didn't know it was rare now. I got lucky and bought it along with some other friends.

Someone said they did a reprint of Lost in Blue, it's readily available now online. As for the game, think Harvest Moon with ugly graphics and a sense of exploration. Addictive, but not for everyone.

I guess this will be the next game I get at Best Buy since it seems that it will most likely be rare in the future. I really wish I could find Meteos though...
