Atari this morning announced Asterix & Obelix XXL 2: Mission Las Vegum for the PS2 and PC. This Etranges Libellules-developed title has players exploring Las Vegum - the city of games. While not much is known about the games players will compete in, we do know that this sequel will feature several parodies of classic gaming icons (as can be seen in this first batch of screens). The game will ship for both platforms this holiday season in Europe. Currently there is no North American release date announced.

It almost looks like what everyone wanted Nintendo games this gen to look like. Good texture detail too, but I'm going to guess these are PC screens.

Lets all hope and pray that the gameplay manages to be at least "decent." I wouldn't mind spending a rental and having a good time laughing at all the video game parodies.
