Basically this would be a favorite albums thread? No album is perfect in my opinion - like anything else in life. It's just that the flaws are so insignificant that you can't possibly hold it against the rest of the album.

Smashing Pumpkins: Gish, Siamese Dream, Adore

Radiohead: The Bends, OK Computer, Kid A

Pearl Jam: Ten, Vs., Vitalogy

Led Zeppelin: III, IV

Wilco: Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, A Ghost is Born

Foo Fighters: Foo Fighters (self-titled)

The White Stripes: De Stijl, White Blood Cells

Sonic Youth: Daydream Nation, Goo, Dirty

Death Cab for Cutie: The Photo Album, Something About Airplanes

Doves: The Last Broadcast, Some Cities

I could add some more, but I'll stop there.

Just post your albums, dont be a snob.
I'm not being a snob, but I'm just saying, nothing is without a flaw. Those are my albums.

Lambtron: Absolutely not! AGIB is their best album, IMO.

listing mostly recent stuff (couple of years to present), these are by no means my alltime favorite albums, but they are all excellent, and i rarely skip tracks as per topic:

I dunno, man. About half of AGIB is really, really, really good. But then again, every song on Summerteeth is fantastic. YHF is way better than AGIB, too.

Tre: Hot Snakes are fucking outrageously, unfairly good. There's a local band that namechecks them and tries to crib their style. They shouldn't, they're just embarassing themselves. If they ever write a song that kills half as much as "Reflex" I'll cut off my penis.

Bah, I like all of AGIB. Only a little over half of Summerteeth is good. Some of the tracks sound like mainstream country music (ELT, Nothing'severgonnastandinmyway.)

spiritualized - lazer guided melodies

and even if you want to skip songs, too bad cos it's formatted in four "suites" of three to four songs each!

i've rediscovered the bends recently (thanks, weed!), and it's awesome, but i dunno -- i skip a lot of tracks on there. planet telex features some attractively squelchy noises, but seems to be about thom yorke's penis. and i don't think i've ever heard "sulk" all the way through. and a lot of the time i'll skip nice dream, bones, bulletproof, etc. just cos i can.

I'd cut off my dick for Kreative Kontrol.

C'mon man, you have to admit that you skip the first few minutes of 'At The Bottom of Everything'. :p
How could anyone skip the first few minutes!? That's the best part!

As for mine, I would agree with the new Bright Eyes, and add:

B0002DRDVE.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg

The Fiery Furnaces- Blueberry Boat
B000025XKM.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg

Nick Drake- Pink Moon

I liked Finger Eleven more when they were the Rainbow Butt Monkeys.

Having said that, Tip was a rulez album

Here's mine:

I don't know how anyone could list More Adventurous over The Execution of All Things or Down II over Nola. Personal preference, I guess. I have all of the Hot Snakes albums and enjoy them greatly, but I don't know that I consider any "perfect". Still, more people should listen.

Anyway:

Slint - Spiderland: Phenominal album from a very short-lived group. They're touring again after years apart. I'd suggest going.

David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust: Bowie perhaps has albums with a better and more developed overall sound... But it's amazing enough on this album. Coupling that with the whole rock star theme this album has just puts it on the top for me.

Marilyn Manson - Mechanical Animals: Most people would ignore this and say I'm an idiot (it's happened to others here), but it's an absolutely excellent album in every last respect. The theme and image, the sound, the writing. Just a great, great piece of work.

Beck - Odelay - My favorite Beck album. I love all of his work (I even enjoy some of Stereopathic Soul Maneur and One Foot in the Grave), but this is my favorite. I don't think there's a single thing wrong with it. Guero is also quite awesome, by the way.

Say Anything - ...Is a Real Boy: Perhaps not for everyone, but it's one of the best rock albums of recent years. Good music, excellent writing. Deserves to be huge, but who knows if they (mostly he) ever will be. I can't think of a single thing to dislike about this release.

There's more, but I'm done.

And I'm really debating adding the new Kings of Leon cd to this list. But it hasn't yet stood the test of time, even though I've pretty much listened to it nonstop since it came out.

It's more arty than anything. If you got in trouble for posting that, something would be seriously wrong with the world.
