One of the cooler games I've played this year

Psi-Ops. Wait! Don't run away just yet!!

I don't know how to describe the game but it's like old school action mixed with old/new school ideas. It's a hybrid of puzzle, action, and a bit of stealth if you choose to play it that way.

Your character has awesome Psi powers that you unlock slowly through the different stages. The puzzles and scenarios are fairly open ended and the level design is simply awesome with all your Psi-Powers.

Action is fast and frantic; I REALLY like how you can die in each battle and that after every battle you get health and psi powerups. This has the side effect of making every battle relevant, but getting health doesn't make the game frustrating. Sooo good to keep a game flowing!

Now, the best part. The physics in this game are awesome. See a bad guy? Levitate him and throw him against the wall. Or pick up a crate and throw it into him. Or pick up a barrel and make him explode. Or use Mind Control and start walking around for a few seconds and kill some baddies. Scared of what might be around the corner? Use remote viewing to go through doors and have a look around. Can't get across the pit? Jump on a loose slab and levitate it and yourself across the pit.

Finally, the graphics are great, the story stays interesting throughout and the play control is absolutely wonderful, with Nick having a nice feel and weight to him as you run around.

Oh and one more thing. Marlena is one of the coolest bosses I've ever had the pleasure of wasting.

I'd love to see a sequel but I'm not so sure how well it sold. Rent it and check it out, it's a whole lot of fun once you get the control down.

Good game, good use of havok physics. Ending sucked shit and the bosses weren't too great, except for the one that threw those huge objects at you. One of my surprised games of the year

I really liked it, but the very cryptic ("So... where the fuck am I supposed to go and what am I supposed to do?" tends to come up a whole lot) level design killed it for me. Always wanting to go back to it, but feel like I'd be too out of it to try and care about finding my way through all these containers.

But, yeah, still not a bad effort. Don't regret getting it since I had a lot of fun before I gave up. Definitely better than Second Sight, if you ask me, even if SS had a more intriguing story as you went along.

Edit: Isn't it kinda funny that FRD and Midway came up with pretty much the exact same concept, down to a military conspiracy and all, and even managed to be as similar as to both have kinda crap level design? So weird.

It was surprisingly fun, though I also agree with Wario's complaint. It was without a doubt better than the obviously compared SS, which bored you with the usage of your powers.
